01To Believe in God, One Must Recognize That Christ Is God Appearing in the Flesh, and That He Is God Himself

It is recorded in the Bible that the Holy Spirit bore witness that the Lord Jesus was God’s beloved Son; the Lord Jesus also called the God in heaven “Father.” Thus, many people believe that the Lord Jesus Christ is the Son of God, and that there is also God the Father in heaven. And yet the Lord Jesus said: “He that has seen Me has seen the Father; … I am in the Father, and the Father in Me” (John 14:9-10). “I and My Father are one” (John 10:30). It can therefore be seen that there is only one God. Jesus Christ was Jehovah God incarnated in the flesh—He was God Himself.

“Philip said to Him, Lord, show us the Father, and it suffices us. Jesus said to him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet have you not known Me, Philip? he that has seen Me has seen the Father; and how say you then, Show us the Father? Believe you not that I am in the Father, and the Father in Me? the words that I speak to you I speak not of Myself: but the Father that dwells in Me, He does the works. Believe Me that I am in the Father, and the Father in Me: or else believe Me for the very works’ sake” (John 14:8–11).

“I and My Father are one” (John 10:30).

02To Believe in God, One Must Recognize That “Only Christ of the Last Days Can Give Man the Way of Eternal Life”

The Lord Jesus said: “I have yet many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. However, when He, the Spirit of truth, is come, He will guide you into all truth” (John 16:12-13). In the last days, the Lord Jesus long ago returned in the flesh as the appearance of the Son of man to do His work and utter His words. This Son of man is Christ of the last days, the Spirit of truth, and He expresses all truths that judge, cleanse and save man. These truths are indeed the way of eternal life that God bestows on mankind, therefore only those who believe in the Christ who has become flesh in the last days and accept the way of eternal life He gives to man will obtain eternal life.

03Is Believing in the Lord Jesus Without Believing in Christ of the Last Days a True Belief in the Son, and Can It Lead to Eternal Life?

The Bible says: “He that believes on the Son has everlasting life: and he that believes not the Son shall not see life” (John 3:36). Belief in the Son is a belief in the incarnated Christ. Many people may ask: The Lord Jesus is the Son of man, He is Christ, and so by believing in the Lord Jesus, we should obtain eternal life. Why then do we still have to believe in the words and work of Christ of the last days before we can obtain eternal life?

“And has given Him authority to execute judgment also, because He is the Son of man” (John 5:27).

04The Jewish Pharisees Believed Only in Jehovah God, and Not in the Lord Jesus. They Also Resisted and Condemned the Lord Jesus, and Were Therefore Punished and Cursed by God. What Warning Does This Give to Us?

1)Is Believing in a Vague, Heavenly God and Not in the Incarnated Christ True Faith in God?

The Lord Jesus said: “If you believe not that I am He, you shall die in your sins” (John 8:24). Thinking back to the early days, the Jewish Pharisees believed only in a vague heavenly God, and when the incarnated God—Jesus Christ—appeared and performed His work, not only did they not believe in Him but they also resisted and condemned Him. Ultimately, they nailed the Lord Jesus to the cross and thus were punished and cursed by God. In the last days, God has once again incarnated as the appearance of the Son of man to perform His work, and if people don’t believe in this incarnated, practical God—Christ of the last days—and only believe in a vague, heavenly God, then is this true faith in God?

“Hereby know you the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God: And every spirit that confesses not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist” (1 John 4:2–3).

“For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist” (2 John 1:7).

2)If One Merely Holds to the Letters and Rules of the Bible in One’s Belief and Does Not Seek the Way to Be Compatible With Christ, Can One Obtain Eternal Life?

Many believers in God believe that the Bible represents God, and that a belief in God is a belief in the Bible, and by holding to the Bible they can obtain eternal life. And yet the Lord Jesus said: “Search the scriptures; for in them you think you have eternal life: and they are they which testify of Me. And you will not come to Me, that you might have life” (John 5:39-40). What is the real meaning of these words spoken by the Lord Jesus? If one only holds to the Bible and does not seek the way to be compatible with Christ, can one then obtain eternal life?
