God’s end-time work is to transform man’s corrupt disposition by judging, chastising, trying, and refining man. At the same time, through experiencing God’s work, man will understand the truth and have knowledge of God. When one has the true knowledge of God, he will achieve the practical results of understanding the truth and having God’s word as life. Practicing the truth is based on truly understanding the truth. Only when one truly knows the substance of God’s word and understands the true meaning of the truth can he have the ways and the results of practicing the truth. In experiencing God’s work, we are required by God to pursue the truth and gain the truth and thus be able to resolve problems with the truth. Only those who have this reality are the ones who have been truly saved and perfected. Many people have believed in God for years, yet they still do not know what practicing the truth is. The very reason is that they have not yet truly understood the truth. The depth to which one understands the truth determines the depth to which he can practice the truth. All those who are liable to observe regulations or who are restrained by regulations do not understand the truth. What they understand is just letters and doctrines, not the substance of the truth, so in practice they can only observe regulations and go through the formality. A common problem in the church is that people can only speak letters and doctrines, observe regulations in doing things, and are always restrained by regulations. They fellowship fairly well in meetings, yet are unable to practice the truth in real life. They are always restrained by this or that regulation, being at a loss and having no way out. They all are masters at talking knowledge, but when they encounter real circumstances and need to use the truth practically, they will be totally bewildered. Therefore, they can never satisfy God in performing their duty. The root cause is that they have not truly understood the truth and all that they speak is simply letters and doctrines. How can a man who has not entered into the reality of the truth lead others to enter into the reality of God’s word? However, as for a person who truly understands the truth, he knows that the true meaning of practicing the truth is to meet God’s requirements for man and to live out the likeness of a real man before God, and that only if one lives out the image of the truth has he met God’s requirements for man when he created man. He even more knows that if he observes regulations he will fall far short of God’s requirements and the likeness man should live out. So a person who truly understands the truth will never observe regulations or be restrained by them. He feels it’s totally meaningless to do so. Only those who always speak letters and doctrines and have not truly understood the truth instruct others to observe regulations, for they themselves are observing regulations and they think that observing regulations is practicing the truth and only by observing regulations can they meet God’s requirements. All those who are liable to observe regulations and who are always restrained by regulations are the ones who have no spiritual understanding and who are not enlightened in the truth. No matter how clearly others fellowship about the truth, what they understand can only be doctrines. And when they practice, they just observe regulations. It seems to them that observing regulations is practicing the truth, and that if one does not observe regulations, he is not practicing the truth. All such people are the ones who are absurd and whose spirit is blocked, and they do not at all understand the substance of the truth.
Those who truly understand the truth never observe regulations and are not restrained by any regulation in doing things. In their working, they act just by principles and only strive for results. In seeking the truth, they are good at touching God’s will and pondering God’s meaning. Does the above, as you see, observe regulations in working or in issuing the work arrangements and the preachings and fellowships? Not at all. He always works according to the actual situation of the church and issues according to the circumstances. The issued work arrangements and the preachings and fellowships are all for resolving the actual problems in the church, and all for resolving the problems of the life entering in of God’s chosen people. If no problems are found, he will not work. At ordinary times, he just pays attention to acquainting himself with the situations and to finding out the root of the problems. And from various situations, he can easily discover problems. He never observes regulations but has principles in every matter. A person without the truth does not know what it is all about even when he sees a problem. A person who truly understands the truth is especially quick at discovering problems. Even when fellowshipping with others or from the problems in the church life, he is able to discover the problems with the church leaders and workers as well as the difficulties about the life entering in of God’s chosen people. So in his experience of leading God’s chosen people into the reality of God’s word, he always has work to do, has truths to fellowship about, and has problems to resolve. In working he is free from regulations and is not restrained by regulations at all. Those who truly understand the truth are all flexible and normal. If one is truly a person who understands the truth, he can resolve problems with the truth, without being restrained by regulations, can satisfy God in performing his duty, and can serve according to God’s will if he is a leader or a worker. Only such people are the ones who have truly understood the truth and entered into the reality of God’s word.
What then is the difference between practicing the truth and observing regulations? I will illustrate in the following paragraphs. Take the truth of obeying God for instance. What exactly is obeying God? Obeying God is to obey everything from God, obey every word of God and all the truths, obey the work of the Holy Spirit, and obey all the sovereign arrangements of God. This is the true meaning of obeying God. A person who truly obeys God has no personal choices or mixtures in obeying God, and he practices according to God’s will and God’s requirements unconditionally and absolutely, obeying God like a soldier who regards obeying orders as his first duty. This is a person who truly obeys God. The highest state of obeying God is to be able to absolutely obey the authority of God’s word, obeying unto death and having no complaint. Those who bargain over terms and give reasons in obeying God or who practice a little obedience with their own choices are not ones who are truly obedient to God. People who observe regulations often take the superficial meaning of a word of God as a regulation to observe, but do not pursue to meet God’s real requirements for man, much less seek the due practical results in practicing God’s word. Observing regulations like this does not represent their true obedience, much less represent the likeness of a real man which man lives out by practicing the truth. It certainly cannot satisfy God’s heart’s desire. So such practice of observing regulations is not practicing the truth at all. What’s more pitiable is that some people just pick out a word of God which fits their notions to keep but ignore other more profound and important words. Such a practice of quoting God’s word out of context is even more not practicing the truth, and is not obeying God at all. Some people even take out one word in God’s past work to deny God’s words in the present work. This is satan’s means of resisting God, in which there are satan’s schemes and intents. Such people just keep one word in the former stage of God’s work, which is outdated now, but deny God’s present words. This is resisting God in the most sinister and malicious way. And this is exactly how all sorts of antichrists and deceivers resist God and oppose God.
In practicing the truth of obeying God, one must have principles, and base it on God’s present words. Only God’s present requirements for man can represent God’s will. For one who truly obeys God, he should obey God unconditionally under whatever circumstances and no matter what God requires of him. Some people obey God under the condition of enjoying grace, and the prerequisite of their obeying a thing is that it matches their notions and imaginations. If there is no grace to enjoy, they will not obey God. Such people are not the ones who pursue the truth. This kind of people only seek to enjoy grace while believing in God, but are never willing to suffer or pay any price. Are they ones who truly obey God? Can they be perfected by God? As to the truth of obeying God, by what should we distinguish how to practice is obeying God and how to practice is observing regulations? As for a person who truly obeys God and practices the truth, he obeys God in his heart and practices the truth completely with a heart of obeying God. His heart has already been obedient to God, and then he keeps the principles in practice. The results of such practice of obeying God are that there are transformations in his life disposition, and that he obeys God in his heart and has a heart of fearing God. Practicing the truth like this is to satisfy God with the heart and at the same time with actions. The results of such practice is that others can see that this person is indeed one who fears God, and his heart is indeed caring for God’s will and is satisfying God. As for a person who observes regulations, however, we can only see that he does not seem to resist God outwardly, but we cannot at all see that his heart is obeying God. Apparently he is obeying God and satisfying God, but after such practice, no transformation can be seen in his life disposition. This is the substantive difference between observing regulations and practicing the truth. Of truly practicing the truth and observing regulations, which practice do you think can satisfy God, and which one is obeying God?
Take another example. How should one practice the truth of serving God? He should first understand God’s requirements and this must be based on God’s word. Serving God is to lead God’s chosen people to eat and drink and experience God’s word, so that they will understand the truth, enter into the reality, and become ones who obey God and worship God. This is the practice of leading people before God. In his practice, according to his own experience and the truth he has understood, he needs to constantly resolve various problems in the experience of God’s chosen people, so that they can gradually understand the truth and enter into the reality of God’s word, and at the same time they will have true knowledge of God and eventually be able to absolutely obey and worship God. Only if such results can be achieved when one completes God’s commission is he truly serving God. In his practice of serving God, he should exalt God and testify God’s deeds every time he fellowships, and should resolve problems with the truth, so that people can all have true knowledge of God and have true praise and worship to God. If one can achieve such results, he is serving God in the most substantive way. Whoever can speak out the true knowledge of God, can testify God’s work, God’s salvation to man, and God’s love for man most clearly, comprehensively, and thoroughly, and can make people truly know God and completely return to God, is one who truly serves God. So it can be said that only those who truly testify God and exalt God are the ones who serve God. This is the true meaning of the truth of serving God. In their working, some church leaders and workers cannot fellowship about true knowledge of God, but always speak letters and doctrines. According to their own will, they ask people to do things in this or that way, letting them observe regulations, which cannot at all make people understand the truth and enter into reality. As a consequence, people still are unable to understand the truth and know God even after years of believing in God. It can be seen that all that they do is not testifying God or exalting God at all. So are they people who serve God? Absolutely not. Instead, they are ones who exhibit and show off themselves, and who serve God but resist God. With such way of working, they can never lead people before God. So, you can imagine whether they are ones who practice the truth.
Take another example. What does it really mean to stand testimony? Standing testimony is also the reality of the truth that God’s chosen people must enter into. According to God’s mind, it means that in experiencing God’s work, one persists in eating and drinking God’s word and pursuing the truth, and no matter how many judgments and chastisements, trials and refinings, and even persecutions and tribulations he experiences, he still does not leave God’s word, persisting in eating and drinking God’s word, and holds on to the true way and follows God to the end, so that finally he has true faith in God and has true knowledge of God, his life disposition has been transformed, he increasingly feels that God is love and God is the truth, the way, and the life, he can obey all God’s sovereign arrangements, and no matter how painful and heavy the trials and refinings are, he can obey to the end without any complaints. Such is a person who stands testimony and who follows God to the end and is approved by God. Even if God refines such a person for several more decades, he will not rebel against God, and it can only be that his faith will be greater and greater, he will be closer and closer to God, and his humanity will be more and more normal. In churches there are some people of this kind, who truly believe in God and pursue the truth. These people are no doubt the ones who stand testimony and who are saved by God. The substance of standing testimony is that in various trials and refinings one always stands on God’s side, being one mind with God, loves God without regret, and does his utmost to safeguard God’s work and the interests of God’s chosen people, being able to be faithful to God even unto death. No matter what trials and refinings they experience, such people do not leave God, but still perform their duty in faithfulness to God. When the great red dragon collapses, these people can speak out their true experiences and testimonies, and give genuine praise and worship to God from their hearts. They are just a group of overcomers made by God. In contrast, people who fail to stand testimony are those who do not pursue the truth, and do not perform their duties, who crave for fleshly ease, and who fear the great red dragon within, being especially timid, those who in experiencing God’s work do not pursue the truth but only pursue power and position, deceive God’s chosen people, disturb the church life, and do all kinds of evil, and also those who never pay attention to eating and drinking God’s word or pursue the truth but always expect the coming of God’s day, always long to receive blessings, and always want to escape disasters and enter into the kingdom at one go without any sufferings. These people who believe in God but have no testimony cannot fellowship about any true knowledge of God, much less do they live out the normal humanity and the likeness of a real man. So they do not have any testimony. If one does not have practical testimony, it means that he does not stand testimony. If one does not keep his duty in believing in God, it means that he, even more, has no testimony. All those who do not pursue the truth always long for God’s day to come early so that they can be freed from suffering, and always expect that they will be saved and blessed just by keeping God’s name and not rebelling against God. These people are all ones who observe regulations and ones who dream and also wish their dreams to come true. In fact, for all those who have no reality of the truth and no testimonies, their life disposition has certainly not been transformed at all. They are all failures in believing in God.
Take another example, what is hating the great red dragon? All those who truly know God and love God will definitely be the ones who hate and rebel against the great red dragon. Actually, the more true knowledge of God people have, the more deeply they hate satan and the great red dragon; the more people understand and have the truth, the more truly they rebel against satan and the great red dragon. Some people do not understand the truth, and though they also hate the great red dragon, their hatreds are surely superficial and not real and they cannot truly rebel against it. Without the truth, one cannot see thoroughly the evil nature and substance of the great red dragon. Then his hatred for the great red dragon is only outward and is toward its actions and behavior, but he does not have true hatred toward its nature and substance. If the great red dragon did not persecute him but gave him some benefits, he would hate it even less. If the great dragon had not done so many evil deeds of resisting God, he would even sing its merits and praise its virtues. Is the outward hatred toward the great red dragon the true hatred toward it? Can such hatred yield the testimony of rebelling against the great red dragon? Absolutely not. How many kinds of hatreds toward the great red dragon are there? Which kind of hatred is true? Which kind of hatred is superficial? With which kind of hatred can one rebel against the great red dragon? With which kind of hatred is one still liable to be deceived and used, to surrender to the great red dragon, and even to wallow in the mire with the enemy? Can you discern these substantive problems about hating the great red dragon? What are the manifestations of truly rebelling against the great red dragon? Do you completely stand on God’s side? Has your heart fully turned to God? Have you fulfilled your faithfulness in performing your duty? Are you truly obedient to God and gained by God? Have you had these realities of truly rebelling against the great red dragon? The great red dragon is God’s enemy, and between God and it, there is no reconciliation and no neutral position. If you cannot be faithful to God, you do not truly rebel against the great red dragon. If you cannot truly obey God, you do not truly rebel against the great red dragon. If you cannot be one heart and one mind with God, then you are not a person who has completely broken with the great red dragon. Do you think it is a simple thing to rebel against the great red dragon? It is not a simple thing to enter into the reality of the truth.
Those without the truth cannot see through a person’s true states, and cannot easily see clearly whether a person truly understands the truth. Then, how to discern whether a person truly understands the truth or not? We should first know that the truth is what God requires man to understand and do, and is even more the reality of life man must possess. Only those who have the truth can live out the likeness of a real man. What is the truth? According to God’s word, the truth is the reality of life that a normal humanity should have. This reality of life has form and image and has the lived-out likeness. Only the image of the truth that man lives out is the very likeness of a real man that God requires man to live out. Only if one lives by God’s word can he have the likeness of a real man. For one to live out the true meaning of life, if he has no truth, it will absolutely not do. Only by gaining the truth can one live out the true human life. This is absolute. Therefore, understanding the truth is not as simple as people imagine. The inner meaning of the truth cannot be thoroughly expressed by man in words. Only those who know God and who are perfected by God can sense some mysteries of it. The truth is the life, the normal humanity, and the life disposition of a real man. How man should obey God to meet the standard required by God, what a person who truly obeys God can enjoy, and what can be seen in the likeness a man lives out by God’s word, all these are related to the degree of one’s understanding the truth. So, for a person who truly understands the truth, the manifestations of his practicing the truth and the likeness he lives out can certainly benefit and edify people who contact him, having the truth and humanity, and being normal and practical. If all God’s chosen people can live by God’s word and become ones who have the truth and humanity, the kingdom of Christ will appear. What God’s chosen people live out will be the likeness of a real man, but by observing regulations one can never achieve such results. Because those who observe regulations do not understand the substance of the truth, they are unable to live out the normal humanity, and still live with satan dominating their flesh. Their hearts are like a pool of stagnant water, and they behave like a dead man. Even if they somewhat practice the truth, they mechanically observe regulations like a robot, and lack vigor. Since they do not have the likeness of a real man nor show any breath of a living man, they cannot edify others at all. This is the difference between practicing the truth and observing regulations. People who observe regulations also perform their duties outwardly, but they treat God perfunctorily and deceitfully. Outwardly they also serve God, but actually they are making disruption and disturbance. Outwardly they also fellowship about the truth, but actually they speak letters and doctrines to exhibit and show off themselves. Their working is not serving God but resisting God in substance. Although those who observe regulations hate the great red dragon with their lips, sometimes they think well of it in their hearts. Once the great red dragon offers them some benefits, they can still be deeply grateful to it. From this we can see a fact that those who observe regulations are the ones who do not understand the truth and who have no life, and they can still resist God and rebel against God. So those who observe regulations do not have the reality of the truth.
Only those who truly understand the truth can enter into the reality. For only if one understands the truth can he practice the truth, and those who are liable to observe regulations definitely do not know how to practice the truth. We must be clear that there are principles for practicing the truth. In practice, it is mainly to take keeping principles as the standard and take never violating principles as the bottom line. As long as we act according to the principles in practice and ensure that we do not go against them, we are practicing the truth accurately. Only those who do not understand the truth observe regulations. Those who truly understand the truth pay attention to the principles in practice. God often tells us to do things by principles. Only if we do things by principles can we practice the truth accurately. What is doing things by principles? How are the principles produced? If we do not truly understand the truth, we are unable to find principles or grasp principles. It is from knowing the substance of the truth that principles are produced. Only when we really see the substance of the truth clearly can we find principles. Then how to determine the principles of practicing the truth? It relates to the understanding of the substance of the truth. The principles in practice are produced according to the knowledge of the substance of the truth, that is, the true meaning of the truth. When you know the substance of the truth, you will know the results to be achieved in practicing the truth. According to the several results that can be achieved, you can establish several principles in practice. Then when you practice according to the principles, if the results are achieved, it means that you are practicing the truth. The most important thing about practicing by principles is that you can satisfy God’s requirements. It is not that your ways of doing things are appropriate, but that your heart can obey God and satisfy God. This is the crux of practicing the truth. If your heart cannot obey God, however good your outward practice may be, it is a pretense and a cheat. If your heart obeys God, your outward practices are sure to be real. So the main manifestation of practicing the truth is that you can obey in your heart first, and then practice according to the principles in your actions. This is the result that God requires man to achieve in practicing the truth. Only if one grasps the principles of practicing the truth can he practice the truth precisely.
For example, when you practice being an honest person, even if there is no lie in your mouth, are there cheats, craftiness and other intents in your heart before God? This involves the principles of practicing the truth of being an honest person. Only if your heart is completely purified before God, and is a simple and open and honest heart can your mouth speak honest and true words. If one merely tries to keep his mouth from telling lies but has not resolved the crafty intents in his heart, then though he sometimes practices fairly well on his lips and in appearance, his heart has not been purified. Is he a truly honest person? Is he a person who practices the truth? It is not a simple matter to practice the truth of being an honest person. If you just try to keep your lips from telling lies, it is a manifestation of observing regulations. Even if your mouth is kept from lying temporarily, yet there is craftiness and deception in your heart and you can still lie in another way. Thus, you are not practicing the truth of being an honest person. When practicing the truth of being an honest person, some just pay attention to keeping their lips from telling lies, but neglect to resolve the lies and cheats within their hearts. As a result, after many years of practice, they still have not resolved the problem of lying and cheating. Can such practice mean that they have entered into the reality of God’s word? Have they lived out the likeness of a true honest man? If such results have not been achieved, how can you say that they have entered into the reality of the truth? Then how to establish the principles of practicing the truth of being an honest person? To resolve the lies in the mouth, we must first resolve the craftiness and cheat in our hearts, and know the substance of lying and cheating. When one hates craftiness and cheat from the heart, he will be able to put the truth of being an honest person into practice. Being an honest person is based on the foundation that you can know from the heart the substance of lies and cheats and thus can hate them, and truly hate the great red dragon’s satanic nature of being crafty, cheating, hating the truth, and being hostile to God. This is the precondition for being an honest person. Some people cannot see thoroughly the substance of lies and cheats, and they do not hate them in their hearts either. So, they can never achieve results in practice. Although they can make sure that they do not lie in one matter, they cannot radically resolve the problem of cheating and lying. Then it is self-evident that whether such practice of observing regulations can bring people the transformation of their disposition and make them live out the likeness of a real man. To practice the truth and enter into the reality of God’s word, we must first be clear about what problems we are to resolve, and what results we are to achieve. This involves the principles in practice. The first principle of practicing being an honest person is that in the heart there is absolutely no lies or cheats. The second principle is that in the heart there are absolutely no other intents, no dealings, no reasons, and no choices. The third principle is that your heart is absolutely for satisfying God, without consideration of how others treat you. When you absolutely establish these principles, seeing that they are indispensable and essential for practicing the truth of being an honest person, and then you practice being an honest person according to these three principles, you will achieve the result of being an honest person. Therefore, you must have principles in practicing the truth. When you keep the principles and do not violate them in practice, this is truly practicing the truth. When you can practice being an honest person according to these principles, you are practicing the truth of being an honest person accurately. Only if you can establish accurate and proper principles in the practice of the truth of every aspect and you can practice according to them will you practice the truth accurately. When you can establish accurate principles in practice in all the truths that you should enter into and you can practice by the principles, you will be a person who truly practices the truth. Only those who can practice the truth in every matter are the ones who truly obey God. Now, are you clear about the main distinction between practicing the truth and observing regulations? The “entering into reality” we often talked about before mainly refers to practicing the truth in every matter. In which aspect you can practice the truth, in that aspect you have the reality. Which truth you can practice, the reality of that truth you have entered into. Only practicing the truth is entering into reality.
Most people cannot distinguish what practicing the truth is and what observing regulations is, and they even treat observing regulations as practicing the truth. There are so many such examples and some of them are listed below. Some people ask: Can I take advantage of the unbelievers when getting along with them? What should I do when finding the lost money? Should I go to college? Should I eat pork? Should I look out for a marriage partner as I get old enough? What should we do when we cannot have meetings in special circumstances? Should I give the presents sent by the gospel friends to the church? Should I turn over to the church the loving alms received from the churches of the grace? Should I give alms to the brothers and sisters with the approval of the leaders or give them to the leaders and workers for transmission to the brothers and sisters? When discovering problems with the brothers and sisters, some leaders and workers just ask them to know themselves and examine themselves, but do not fellowship about the truth to resolve the problems. Whatever illness comes to the brothers and sisters, some leaders and workers only know to fellowship with them, saying, “You must have offended God, just examine yourself,” which causes them to feel very depressed. And so on. In fact, these matters have nothing to do with the truth. However well you practice in these matters, you are not practicing the truth. One’s having some good behaviors does not at all mean that he obeys God. However well you deal with these trivial matters, it can just show that you have some humanity and good behaviors. Why are most people so interested in these trivial matters? It is mainly because they do not understand what the truth is. This is the root of the problem. To practice the truth, it is very critical to first resolve the problem of not understanding the truth. If we cannot truly understand the truth, we will never be able to practice the truth. Practicing the truth must be based on truly understanding the truth. Only those who can practice the truth are the ones who have entered into the reality of God’s word. However well you do the things irrelevant to the truth, it does not mean that you have entered into the reality of the truth. Such things, which even the good people among the unbelievers can do, have nothing to do with the truth. Now the truths people need most to enter into are the ten items of truths which one must enter into for his being saved. If you have these ten items of truths, you will have not only true faith in God but also true knowledge of God. Not only can you know clearly satan’s nature and substance, but you can see through the schemes of satan and avoid being deceived by it. Not only can you know the work of the Holy Spirit, but you can also discern the work of evil spirits. Besides, you can discern the deception of all sorts of false christs and antichrists, and can discern all kinds of wicked men. Only if one has the ten items of truths can he have these four discernments and be immune to satan’s deception. When one is free from satan’s deception and is able to overcome satan in believing in God, he is a person who has been saved and who has broken away from satan’s influence, and he is an overcomer who has been perfected by God. This is the true stature that God’s chosen people must have. No matter how well you observe regulations, can it mean that you are able to discern the deception of the work of evil spirits and false christs and antichrists? Can it mean that you see through satan’s schemes and stand testimony?
In believing in God, you should attend to your proper duties and grasp the ten items of truths to understand and enter into, and should not pay attention to trivial matters. Only if you grasp the ten items of truths and pursue to understand them with all your might and find ways of practice in the truths can you enter into the reality. For example, how should you practice the truth so as to be able to obey God? What truths should you understand so that you can have discernment? How are you able to resolve problems with the truth? How should you practice exalting and testifying God? How should you treat the deception and the control of false leaders, false workers, and antichrists? These fundamental problems that directly relate to whether one can follow God to the end and whether one can stand testimony and be saved are what you should pay attention to. Only when these problems are resolved have you resolved the most fundamental and crucial problems in believing in God. Many people do not spend effort on the truth, but always ask various questions and seek ways of practice concerning trivial things. They are all shortsighted blind men, and cannot at all grasp the truths that they should really understand and enter into. These people have believed in God for years, yet they are actually pitiful to such an extent that even now they do not know what truths are the most important ones to be understood. Is there any hope for such people to be saved? For a believer in God, what truths are the most important ones to understand? The most fundamental ones for him to possess are the ten items of truths. The trivial things can be put aside for now, and after having understood the ten items of truths, you will naturally know how to deal with these trivial things properly. If you do not understand the ten items of truths, no matter how well you practice in the trivial matters, it is useless and is not approved by God either. This is because a person who does not understand the truth can still be captured by satan, can still relapse into his old nature, can continue to do evil and commit sins, and can still resist God and rebel against God. Isn’t this a deadly thing? In one’s believing in God, it is crucial to resolve the problem of not obeying God, and to be able to know God, and only the transformation of his life disposition can mean that he has gained life. If one does not pursue the truth but always observes regulations, he is too foolish! If a person has cancer and also many other minor illnesses, which one should be treated first, the cancer or the minor illnesses? He should first have the cancer treated to keep him alive, and then it will not be late to have the minor illnesses treated. If the minor illnesses are treated first, once the cancer breaks out, he still will die in the end even if the minor illnesses have been cured. How should the wise choose in the matter of being saved? They should first resolve the fatal spots in their nature, that is, how to pursue the truth so as to resolve their disposition of resisting God and rebelling against God. So I advise those who observe regulations to wake up quickly. Do not be foolish any longer! Only if you have understood and are clear about the ten items of truths will you not be deceived by satan again, and can you have the assurance that you will follow God to the end, and that you will stand testimony and not rebel against God. When these big matters have been resolved, you will naturally be clear about how to treat those trivial things. Which do you think is important, observing regulations or understanding the truth? Which do you think can make you gain the transformation of your life disposition and truly obey God? One should have intelligence and wisdom in believing God. Those who are liable to observe regulations are all shortsighted and blind ones. Only those who always pay attention to pursuing the truth and are serious about the truth have great wisdom and will be approved by God.
When fellowshipping about the truth, I never tell others how to observe regulations. I dislike the most those who always ask how to practice in trivial things, and never reply to them. I pay attention to answering questions about the truth and questions related to the life entering in. Many people always make an issue of trivial things, as if they are seeking to satisfy God, but they rebel against God in the matters involving important principles. They pretend to be kind-hearted in small matters but do evil in big matters; they are willing to suffer losses in small matters but take advantage in big matters; and they assume obedience in small matters but rebel in big matters. Aren’t they hypocrites? What God wants is that one can satisfy God in great crucial matters and in matters of principle. If one fails to satisfy God in trivial matters but always satisfies God in great matters, in crucial matters, he will still be approved by God. If one pretends to satisfy God in trivial matters but always rebels against God in great matters and in principles, he will still be punished and cursed by God. This is like the children of a family. They come to see their parents with worthless gifts in their leisure time, but when their parents are ill or in trouble and they are in need of help, they do not show up. Are they ones who truly honor their parents? Will their parents like such children? Practicing the truth has to be based on principles, and it is absolutely not to observe regulations. In matters related to the truth, people who pursue the truth must grasp them, seeking how to practice in them is after God’s heart. It is a matter of principle. Only if you practice the truth in big matters related to principles can you satisfy God. No matter how well you practice in trivial matters, it does not mean that you have the truth, even less that you are a person who obeys God. In believing in God, we should pay attention to reality and attend to our proper duties. To pursue to enter into the reality of the truth is a task of top priority and of great urgency. Only if you fully understand and are clear about every item of the truths can you find the principles in practice and the specific ways of practice. People often treat the truth perfunctorily, and they only want to know some doctrines and observe some regulations, and think that they can practice the truth and have had the reality; aren’t they cheating God? This is like someone who thinks himself knowledgeable after he has only finished the middle school courses. Isn’t he a superficial and foolish person? Those who are liable to observe regulations are just so absurd. They will never know how to practice the truth. All those who observe regulations are the ones who do not understand the truth. This is absolute. All those in the church who always make an issue of trivial matters are the ones who observe regulations. All those in the church who always ask how to do this or how to do that are the ones who do not understand the truth. Only those who pay attention to how to obey God, how to love and satisfy God, how to testify God and resolve problems with the truth, and how to perform their duties faithfully, are the ones who know how to practice the truth. Only those who practice the truth are the ones who live out the reality of God’s word.
Now the work of the Holy Spirit is to lead God’s chosen people to enter into all the truths. Thus, in the church life, we only focus on eating and drinking God’s word and fellowshipping about the truth, with the purpose that God’s chosen people can understand all the truths. Only when we clearly understand every aspect of the truth can we accurately practice the truth. Now the problem with most people is that they observe regulations and are restrained by regulations, and they are unable to practice the truth accurately. Some people even regard observing regulations as practicing the truth. So, observing regulations becomes the biggest difficulty in one’s practicing the truth. It is not a simple matter to resolve the problem of observing regulations and being restrained by regulations. It is because people do not know the truth clearly and accurately that they have the difficulty that they observe regulations and are restrained by regulations. To put it accurately, people have not truly understood the truth, let alone practice the truth. Those who only understand letters and doctrines can but have the practice of observing regulations. So it is clear that the practice of observing regulations results from the understanding of letters and doctrines. Only when people have truly understood the truth can they have the principles of practicing the truth. Whoever does not truly understand the truth but just understands letters and doctrines is liable to observe regulations. Only when we see thoroughly the root of this problem can we know how to resolve the problem of observing regulations thoroughly. Therefore, those who are liable to observe regulations and are restrained by regulations must be clear that in order to resolve the problem of observing regulations radically, you should continue to pursue the truth until you truly understand and know the truth. Only when you understand the truth to an extent that you can establish the principles of practicing the truth will you truly understand the truth. At that time, your problem of observing regulations and being restrained by regulations will be resolved accordingly.
