27. How to Eat and Drink God’s Word and Practice the Truth to Understand the Truth and Enter Into Reality

Eating and drinking God’s word is for understanding the truth and entering into the reality of God’s word and even more for gaining the truth and being saved. This is the truth that people should at least understand in believing in God. Why is it that many people have believed in God for years, but they still have not understood the truth and entered into reality? They not only do not have the transformation in their life disposition, but even do not have a change in their viewpoints on things, their outlook on life, and their concept of value. Then how can such people break away from satan’s influence of darkness and be saved? The root of this is that they do not love the truth. If a person does not love the truth, even if he eats and drinks God’s word, he cannot practice it or experience it, for he has not truly accepted and obeyed the judgment and chastisement of God’s word. Thus, he cannot understand the truth and enter into reality. When eating and drinking God’s word, most people think that as long as they understand its literal meaning and can speak doctrines, they understand the truth and have reality. They believe in God in such a frivolous and self-righteous way that after believing for years, they still cannot practice the truth and have not entered into the reality of the truth of God’s word. They do not have any knowledge of how God works to save men, still perform their duty perfunctorily and carelessly, are still full of lies and deceits and malicious judgments in speaking, and can never practice the truth and be honest people. If only at the end of God’s work they see themselves to be poor, pitiful, blind, and empty-handed, admit that they have not truly obeyed God’s work and are indeed not pursuers of the truth, and realize that a believer in God is muddling along and fooling around if he does not pursue the truth, they can never be saved and perfected but will only end up being eliminated and punished. In believing in God, if one cannot eat and drink God’s word seriously, accept the truth, or practice the truth, this is really a dangerous thing. Just as God’s word says, “I see that you have done a great many things unrelated to the truth in your life. So, I particularly require you all to be the servants of the truth; do not be the slaves of evil and ugliness, and do not trample the truth or defile any corner of God’s house. This is my admonition to you.” Then how should people eat and drink God’s word and practice the truth so that they can understand the truth and enter into reality? This is indeed a crucial matter that people have to resolve in believing in God.

The truth is derived from God’s word, and so is life. God’s word is the source of life to mankind, and God is the truth, the way, and the life. One’s believing in God begins with his eating and drinking God’s word, his practicing the truth is the result produced by his eating and drinking God’s word, and his entering into life even more begins with his eating and drinking God’s word. We may say that the key to whether or not one can gain the truth and life and be saved and perfected lies in how he eats and drinks God’s word and practices the truth. That is to say, it is the most fundamental issue in his believing in God how one should eat and drink God’s word so that he can understand the truth and touch God’s will and thus know God and gain the transformation of his life disposition. Many people are just content with understanding letters and doctrines, and as they can speak and preach them, they think they have believed in God successfully. So they have never received the working of the Holy Spirit. If a person does not pursue the truth when eating and drinking God’s word, he will not achieve the result that he understands the truth and practices the truth. Outwardly, people all read God’s word, but the results are different. Some, when reading God’s word, can seek the truth and touch God’s will and receive the revelation and enlightenment of the Holy Spirit and can understand the truth and enter into the reality of God’s word, while others fail to receive the revelation and enlightenment of the Holy Spirit though they have even memorized God’s word thoroughly, and they have believed in God for years but still cannot understand the truth and enter into reality. What is all this about? The key lies in whether people truly love the truth and whether they can accept and obey the judgment and chastisement of God’s word, which are the foundation. For those who do not love the truth, however they do it, they are going through the formality and the motions and will not achieve any result. When those who truly love the truth read God’s word, they can pray to God and touch God’s will, can quiet their heart before God, and can eagerly ponder over God’s word and seek the truth, and they will have a true knowledge of God’s work. After reading God’s word, they will experience and practice it and gradually understand the truth, and unconsciously they will completely enter into the reality of the truth. People all eat and drink God’s word, but the results are so different, which hinge on their attitudes toward the truth. How people should eat and drink God’s word and practice the truth is indeed very crucial to their entering into life, because “those to be saved are the ones who are willing to practice the truth.

Those who pursue the truth have all realized that in eating and drinking God’s word, one must pay attention to understanding the truth and entering into reality so that he can be saved and perfected, and this is the basis of his experiencing and obeying God’s work. If one can never understand the truth and enter into reality in eating and drinking God’s word, he is not experiencing God’s work but is being careless with himself and fooling and cheating himself. If one, in eating and drinking God’s word, can never know his true corrupt condition and the substance of his nature, cannot understand and know the real significance of God’s judging and chastising corrupt mankind, and does not know God’s righteous disposition and substance at all, and he can even speak letters and doctrines shamelessly for others to think highly of him and adore him, attempting to deceive and control God’s chosen people, he has become a religious cheat who deceives people, and has strayed into the way of antichrists. Actually, this kind of person is a thorough antichrist if he does not repent. If anyone has no reality of the truth and he even wants to deceive and control others, wants to be their teacher and lead the way, or wants to be a leader, isn’t this “the blind leads the blind, and both will fall into a ditch”? Isn’t this kind of person exactly an antichrist that directly resists God? All those who do not love the truth and cannot truly obey the judgment and chastisement of God’s word are ones walking the way of antichrists and will end up as antichrists. This shows that in believing in God, if one wants to be saved and perfected, he has to be clear about how he should eat and drink God’s word and practice the truth, which is very important. Then, how should one eat and drink God’s word so that he can understand the truth and enter into reality? First, one has to understand the principles in eating and drinking God’s word and the results he has to achieve in doing it. Now I will list the seven main principles in eating and drinking God’s word as follows:

1. In eating and drinking God’s word, one should not limit his understanding of God’s word to its literal meaning, but should seek the reality of the truth.

2. In eating and drinking God’s word, one must be clear about the background behind God’s word and about God’s will, so that he will easily grasp the true meaning of God’s word.

3. In eating and drinking God’s word, one must in God’s word know his true corrupt condition and the substance of his nature and see his lack and how pitiful he is.

4. In eating and drinking God’s word, one must pay attention to understanding God’s requirements for man, namely, what God’s will is, how man should practice, and what man should possess.

5. In eating and drinking God’s word, one must know the disposition of God and what God has and is that God’s word represents, that is, he should seek the knowledge of God.

6. In eating and drinking God’s word, one must seek and know the truth in God’s word and understand the significance of the truth to corrupt mankind.

7. In eating and drinking God’s word, one must understand the principles of practice for entering into the truth and what realities of the truth he should enter into to have the likeness of a real man.

The above are the seven principles in eating and drinking God’s word, that is, the seven standards that must be met in eating and drinking God’s word. Although God’s chosen people are all willing to pursue the truth hard, we must know that our pursuing the truth begins with eating and drinking God’s word and that if we, in eating and drinking God’s word, can practice strictly according to the seven principles, it will be easy for us to achieve the result that we truly understand the truth and enter into reality. No matter how many principles in eating and drinking God’s word you can understand and practice, as long as you do your utmost to strive forward according to these seven principles or standards, you will definitely achieve the results in eating and drinking God’s word. Thus it will be easy for you to enter into the reality of the truth. This is because as long as you, in God’s word, truly understand the truth and know the righteous and bright substance of the truth, you will definitely examine and know yourself and see that you have nothing, and you will definitely focus on pursuing to enter into the reality of the truth. Everyone who pursues the truth will pursue to enter into the reality of the truth once he sees his lack and how pitiful he is, so all those who truly understand the truth will know that Christ is the truth, the way, and the life and that the truth is the reality of life man should possess, and thus they all will pay attention to entering into the reality of the truth. None of those who have no reality of the truth are ones who truly understand the truth. Of course, one can only enter into the reality of the truth gradually from the shallow state to the deep state, and he cannot completely enter into the reality by practicing the truth once; it will take several years or even decades to experience any item of the truth. Therefore, as one enters deeper into the reality of the truth step by step, when he has truly entered into the reality of the truth, God’s word will have become his life and the foundation of his existence. This will mean that he has been saved and perfected through experiencing God’s work.

If one wants to understand the truth and enter into reality in eating and drinking God’s word, he must first treat God’s word correctly. How a created being should treat the Creator’s word not only has to do with whether this person has a conscience and sense but also has to do with his substance and disposition. All those who truly have humanity and sense will definitely acknowledge that God’s word is absolutely the truth, and regardless of whether it fits man’s notions or not and whether man can understand and fathom it or not, God’s word is forever the truth, which is absolute. Because mankind was created by God and men’s everything comes from God, only the Creator understands and knows the created beings best. The truth and the life the created mankind should possess and the way they walk are all in God’s hands, and only the incarnated God is the truth, the way, and the life. So the words the Creator speaks to the created mankind, without a doubt, are all the most meaningful and valuable and the highest maxims of life and are all the truth, which is ever unchanging, and the created beings should accept and obey God’s words with a heart that fears God and should seek the truth and accept the truth as the reality of their life so that they will be after God’s heart. All corrupt human beings have satanic nature and are full of satanic dispositions, and those who can truly love the truth and accept the truth are very much in the minority. This shows that human beings have been corrupted so deeply that those who can accept the truth of God’s word as life are too few, and most people are ones who follow the trend of the world and do not love the truth at all. These people may have been compelled to believe in God, but they are unwilling to seek or gain the truth from God’s word, and they always want to research God’s word and research in God’s word how to receive blessings and make a deal with God. This is especially true with the antichrists that belong to satan, the brood of the devils. They even always want to take hold of God’s word and pry into God’s whereabouts and intentions, attempting to take the opportunity to disturb and damage God’s work and put God to shame. Before God’s word, the features of all kinds of people are thoroughly unmasked. God’s word exposes people so fully. So, when eating and drinking God’s word, one must have the conscience and sense that a created being should have. First he must absolutely believe that all God’s words are the truth, are absolutely correct, and are the reality of the truth that God’s chosen people must enter into, and then he should practice and experience God’s words to know and verify that they are the truth. When one believes and acknowledges that God’s word is the truth, this does not mean that he understands the truth. He has to experience God’s word to the extent that he has the true knowledge of it and has completely verified that it is the truth and is reality. Only this is the process of truly experiencing God’s word, knowing God’s word, understanding the truth, and knowing the truth. He who has no experience of practicing God’s word has no true knowledge of it. The foolish ones think that they have understood the truth, as they believe that God’s word is the truth. As a result, they cannot speak any true experiential knowledge, let alone resolve their actual problems. This is a manifestation of having no reality of the truth. It is by experiencing God’s word and practicing God’s word that one can truly understand the truth. One must base his eating and drinking God’s word on his acknowledging and believing that God’s word is absolutely the truth, and then he should practice and experience God’s word and receive the revelation and enlightenment of the Holy Spirit and gain the true knowledge of it. When he truly understands the truth, he will feel that God’s word is the truth and that God’s word is so practical. Only when he has experienced God’s word and practiced the truth to such an extent will he have truly entered into the reality of the truth. Those who talk about God’s word academically are all ones without the reality of the truth, and those who do not practice or experience God’s word will never gain the truth. To obey God’s work is by no means a simple thing. Only those who truly believe in God and can accept and obey the judgment and chastisement of God’s word and pursue the truth are the ones to be saved. We have seen that unconsciously all those who can truly accept God’s word and obey the judgment and chastisement of God’s word can gradually understand the truth and enter into reality. In experiencing God’s work, they all can have the true knowledge of God gradually, feel more and more strongly that God is venerable and lovely, treasure the precious value of the truth more and more, and have a more and more normal relationship with God, and they can pray to God and worship God in spirit and in truth. All those who truly pursue the truth have begun to get on the way of being saved and perfected, and they all have entered into the reality of the truth in different degrees and are gradually becoming compatible with God. All those who always research God’s word and contradict God’s word are increasingly exposed to have the very nature of antichrists the devils, and they have shown their true colors. Exposed by God’s word, people have already been after their kinds. Now, the more God’s chosen people experience God’s work, the more they feel that God’s word has made manifest God’s almightiness and wisdom and has fully testified about God’s righteous disposition. It is thus clear that how God’s chosen people should eat and drink God’s word and practice the truth is indeed very important to their entering into life.

Eating and drinking God’s word is for understanding the truth and gaining the truth. If one can truly accept God’s judgment and chastisement and can seek the truth and enter into the reality of the truth in eating and drinking God’s word, this means that he is truly obeying God’s work. Thus he will receive the revelation and enlightenment of the Holy Spirit and gradually understand the truth, know himself, and truly repent. When one can practice the truth and obey God and has reality, he will have got on the way of being saved and perfected. When he experiences the judgment and chastisement and the pruning and dealing of God’s word to the extent of truly knowing his true corrupt condition and the substance of his nature, he will begin to focus on pursuing the truth and obeying God’s work. Thus, it will be easy for him to understand the truth and enter into reality. Entering into the reality of God’s word is based on understanding the truth and practicing the truth. None of those who do not practice the truth have truly understood the truth or are able to enter into the reality of the truth. Only those who have truly understood the truth can practice the truth accurately and enter into reality. It is by no means a simple thing to be able to understand the truth. One’s being able to speak many letters and doctrines never means that he has truly understood the truth. For one to truly understand the truth has to do with how he eats and drinks God’s word. As a created being, one must believe that every word of the Creator is absolutely the truth. If he prays to God and seeks the truth on this basis, he will have a genuine fellowship with God. Thus he will easily receive the revelation and enlightenment of the Holy Spirit. Honest people never doubt that God’s word is the truth, so no matter how much of God’s word they understand, they can accept and practice it. After they experience God’s word in this way for some time, they will have experiences and knowledge of the truth of God’s word. When they have the experiential knowledge of God’s word, they will be close to understanding the truth. Because the true lovers of the truth are willing to strive toward the reality of the truth, they will practice whatever can safeguard God’s work, whatever is beneficial to God’s chosen people, whatever gives them a peaceful conscience, whatever can produce positive results, and whatever God’s chosen people can approve and support. The more they practice and enter into the reality of the truth in this way, the more they will definitely have the presence of God and the revelation and enlightenment of the Holy Spirit. The more they practice such things, the more they will have ways. This is the practical exercise of practicing the truth. The more one practices the truth, the more he will have enjoyment and comfort in his heart, the more fairly and justly he will do things, the stronger the sense of his conscience and his sense of justice will become, the more selfless and fair and upright he will be, the more he will feel relieved and calm and have real peace and joy in his heart, and the more he will have a normal relationship with God, completely living before God and living in the light of God’s presence. Practicing the truth in this way, one will naturally meet God’s requirements. This is the way to practice the truth and enter into reality. As one’s experience is gradually deepened with his understanding of the truth, he will enter into the reality of the truth unconsciously; meanwhile he will have a clear confirmation from his conscience. Practicing the truth is what those with a normal humanity are willing to do. The more one practices the truth, the more normal his humanity will become, and the more he will feel that at last he has lived out the likeness of man and succeeded in being a man. Thus, he who has truly understood the truth will naturally discover the loveliness and preciousness of the truth. When one reaches the point where he can truly practice the truth and apply the truth, he will discover the value and meaning of the truth. To practice the truth is to live in the light. The more one practices the truth, the more he can conduct himself aboveboard and uprightly, and the more he will realize that actually the truth should have been the reality of man’s life. Only then will he feel that the truth is the reality of the life of the real mankind and more and more truly realize that “Christ is the truth, the way, and the life.” Because of this, he will see the meaning of the true human life. All those who have entered into the reality of the truth can spontaneously speak their experiential knowledge of the reality of the truth and can fellowship about the principles and the ways of practicing the truth, because all the true knowledge of the truth results from the experience of the truth and is absolutely beyond anything man can imagine. Whatever man can imagine is not reality. Only that which results from man’s experience is the true knowledge and is the reality of the truth. One’s practicing the truth is mainly based on his having a pure understanding and true knowledge of God’s word and his having his conscience as the supervisor. Thus he will easily receive the working of the Holy Spirit. One cannot succeed in exercising to practice the truth without the function of his conscience. Whoever does not have a conscience is not a man but an animal in human attire. As long as one can practice the truth according to his conscience, he will have God’s blessing. This is the basis of his practicing the truth. If he can also receive the revelation and enlightenment and the leading of the Holy Spirit, he will succeed in practicing the truth. When one lives out the likeness of a real man, he will have the reality of the truth. The truth is indeed the reality of life possessed by those with the image of a real man. Only when one experiences to a certain depth can he know that the substance of the truth is the reality of the normal humanity to be lived out. When one possesses the reality of the truth, what he lives out will be the image of a real man. This shows that always practicing the truth is the way to understand the truth and enter into reality.

As to how we should eat and drink God’s word to be after God’s heart, there is also the truth we should seek in it. In which aspect we should seek the truth, in that aspect there is God’s will and God’s requirements. In eating and drinking God’s word, one should first see clearly and know where the core of God’s work lies and of the words God has expressed from beginning to end, which are the core of God’s work and which are the central part, the kernel, of God’s end-time work. This is the common knowledge that God’s chosen people must understand in eating and drinking God’s word. There are many people who are against God’s will in eating and drinking God’s word. They discard its most crucial part concerning man’s entering into life, that is, they neglect the words with which God judges and chastises the corrupt substance of mankind. Actually, this is divorced from God’s work of judgment and chastisement, and in substance it is turning to their own way. This is especially true with some who always seek ways to receive reward in God’s word. They try in vain to receive the rights of the firstborn sons and receive the crown without being judged and chastised by God, and attempt to sneak into the kingdom by means of trickery. Finally they all are exposed as antichrists and are eliminated and punished. There is indeed the truth to seek in how to eat and drink God’s word. None of those eliminated antichrists and wicked men could in any way obey the principle of mainly eating and drinking the 119 pieces of God’s word, as arranged by God’s family, but rather they chose the easy way and specially researched the words of God in Christ’s Expression and Testimony at the Beginning. They delved into the mysteries in God’s words to seek the opportunities of receiving blessings, and they even distorted and misinterpreted God’s words as testifying that they are the firstborn sons and the men used by the Holy Spirit as well, claimed to be the perfected “first fruits,” and pretended to be ones sent by God, in order for God’s chosen people to believe and follow them. They simply did not accept God’s judgment and chastisement, much less accept prunings and dealings, and they spared no effort to disturb and demolish God’s work and did all kinds of evil. As a result, they were exposed and eliminated. All such people are wise in their own conceit and have stewed in their own juice. It is clear that those who do not pursue the truth are all arrogant, self-conceited, and submissive to no one. Eventually they will ruin themselves because of turning to their own way and doing all kinds of evil. In how to eat and drink God’s word, all kinds of people are also revealed. All kinds of antichrists and wicked men and the various kinds of evil spirits and absurd ones, who research God’s word and hate the truth, have been exposed by God’s word and been eliminated. Particularly some very sinister antichrists the devils not only do not accept God’s judgment and chastisement or any truth themselves, but judge that God’s family has tampered with God’s words and groundlessly say that all the works of God’s family are done by a man and that God’s chosen people are believing in and following a man. They have totally denied the Holy Spirit’s leading and ruling through his working and God’s almightiness and wisdom in accomplishing everything with his word. This is the most insidious satanic scheme of those antichrists the devils which is to attempt to make people doubt and give up God’s word and lose the good opportunity to be saved and thereby achieve their purpose of disturbing and damaging God’s work. God’s chosen people have finally seen through the ugly face and the true colors of each antichrist the devil. They have already firmly believed that Christ is the incarnated practical God who is the Word appearing in the flesh, and they will certainly be faithful and obedient to him unto death. They will certainly accept and obey to the end the man used by the Holy Spirit leading them into the reality of the truth. God’s chosen people have already firmly determined to do so, and no one can change them. Any plot or scheme of satan’s evil forces which is to disturb and disrupt God’s chosen people eating and drinking God’s word, understanding the truth, and entering into reality will never succeed. Only those who eat and drink God’s word seriously and pursue the truth are the real chosen people of God. Those who do not pay attention to eating and drinking God’s word or pursue the truth are all unbelievers and false believers, and they all have lost the working of the Holy Spirit and have been exposed and eliminated. God’s chosen people must see this clearly.

If God’s chosen people want to understand the truth and enter into reality, first they must pay attention to understanding the truth and knowing themselves and should resolve their actual problems when eating and drinking God’s word. This is the key to entering into the reality of the truth. It is through often examining himself and resolving his actual problems that one can know himself. If one fails to understand the truth when eating and drinking God’s word, he will have no way to resolve his problems of corruptions and will never truly know his true corrupt condition and the substance of his nature, nor will he possibly have true repentance. Thus he will not be able to break away from satan’s influence and be saved. So whether one can be saved and perfected hinges on how he eats and drinks God’s word and whether he truly pursues the truth. If one cannot receive the truth from God’s word, he can never resolve his problems of corruptions or gain the truth and life in God’s word. If one is truly a pursuer of the truth, in eating and drinking God’s word, he can surely achieve the result that he understands the truth and knows God and can surely resolve his problems of corruptions and gain the truth as his life. All those who understand the truth and have entered into reality can achieve the following seven results in eating and drinking God’s word:

1. They can quiet before God and have a pure understanding and true knowledge of the truth when eating and drinking God’s word.

2. They can truly understand and know the substance of the truth, have a change in their viewpoints on things, and gradually have the true outlook on life and the true concept of value.

3. They can often examine themselves and know their true corrupt condition and the substance of their nature in God’s word, and their arrogance and self-rightness will disappear gradually.

4. No matter what problems they encounter, they can seek and practice the truth and can resolve the actual problems with the truth.

5. They can know God’s disposition and what God has and is and see God’s almightiness and wisdom in the truth they understand.

6. They can accept the truth as their life, live by God’s word, and reach the point of being transformed in their life disposition and being God’s witnesses.

7. Their humanity is increasingly restored to normal, and they can live out the likeness of a real man and will obey God and worship God forever.

If one can understand many truths after eating and drinking God’s word for several years, he will naturally achieve the above seven results. This is the fruit of his eating and drinking God’s word and practicing the truth and is also the certain harvest he reaps in experiencing God’s work. After eating and drinking God’s word for several years, all those who truly pursue the truth will definitely have a harvest and reap fruit. They will not only have laid their foundation in the true way, but also have got on the way of being saved and perfected. All these will be the results achieved through eating and drinking God’s word. Whether people can achieve these results depends on how they seek the truth and practice the truth in eating and drinking God’s word. If people believe in God in this way for eight or ten years, they will gain the truth as their life and be transformed in their life disposition and live out the likeness of a real man. This will mean that they have believed in God successfully. No matter how much they have suffered and how much price they have paid, it is indeed too worthwhile. They should thank God forever and repay God’s love all their life.

Those who truly understand the truth will certainly know the value and significance of gaining the truth, and they will surely have an increasingly strong will to pursue the truth, and they can pay any price to gain the truth. To truly understand the truth and enter into reality, people have to receive the working of the Holy Spirit. This is the most fundamental. So they must pay attention to resolving the serious problems that hinder the working of the Holy Spirit and their problem of being arrogant and self-conceited and turning to their own way, and they also have to resolve their problem of having various barriers in their relationship with God. If they do not resolve these actual problems, the Holy Spirit will have no way to work in them. This is the root of many people losing the working of the Holy Spirit and thus failing in believing in God. God is righteous and faithful, and he is not a respecter of persons. As long as one can accept the truth, pursue the truth, and walk the right way, he will surely have the working of the Holy Spirit. God searches hearts and minds. If one cannot accept the truth and obey God’s work, he can never be saved; if he can even reject the truth, hate the truth, and oppose God, he is bringing destruction upon himself. The satanic nature of every corrupt human being is filled with satanic dispositions, and there are many things that resist God in it. This is the root of men’s resisting God. So, every corrupt human being needs to resolve many practical problems in his relationship with God. Especially those problems that can hinder the working of the Holy Spirit and cause him to lose the working of the Holy Spirit and thus resist God must be resolved as soon as possible; otherwise he will easily lose the working of the Holy Spirit, and worse still, he will lose it forever. Therefore, as we are faced with the dangerous enemies, we should never take a casual attitude, but must seek the truth and resolve the problems as soon as possible. It is most important to normalize our relationship with God and ensure that the working of the Holy Spirit will not be hindered. In one’s experience, when he loses the working of the Holy Spirit because of encountering a difficulty or facing a temptation, if he cannot practice the truth and also does not seek the truth to resolve the problem and remove in time the obstacle which hinders the working of the Holy Spirit, he will not be able to normalize his relationship with God. So, an ordinary problem must be resolved within several days, and a serious problem must be resolved within a month or two. Only if he does so will his growth in life not be stunted. If a person does not have a heart that fears God and he is totally unconcerned about whether or not he has the working of the Holy Spirit and does not resolve the problems in time when finding them, he is not one who truly experiences and obeys God’s work or one who truly pursues the truth. All those who pay no attention to maintaining their normal relationship with God are ones who have no place for God in their heart and ones who do not have a true faith in God, let alone a heart that fears God. Such people are not the pursuers of the truth, and they can never possibly enter into the reality of the truth. Whether one can receive the working of the Holy Spirit is very important. Now I will list as follows the twelve manifestations of walking the way of antichrists which make people unable to receive the working of the Holy Spirit:

1. Some people simply do not love the truth or accept any truth, and they believe in God only to receive blessings, so they cannot receive the working of the Holy Spirit.

2. Some people always hold to religious notions and practices, and they try their best to keep the regulations, but simply do not practice the truth. They cannot receive the working of the Holy Spirit.

3. Some people always speak letters and doctrines and simply do not practice the truth, but they show off and parade themselves and consider themselves right. They cannot receive the working of the Holy Spirit.

4. Some people clearly know what duty they should perform but just refuse to do it, and they do not practice any truth. They cannot receive the working of the Holy Spirit.

5. Some people eat and drink God’s word but do not pursue the truth, and they can never examine themselves and know themselves. They cannot receive the working of the Holy Spirit.

6. Some people refuse to accept any pruning and dealing, and when they have transgressions, they not only do not repent but always argue and obey no one. They cannot receive the working of the Holy Spirit.

7. Some people misinterpret God’s word and distort the truth and the facts, but they always vindicate themselves and simply do not accept the truth, so they cannot receive the working of the Holy Spirit.

8. Some people always doubt that God’s word is the truth, so they cannot accept God’s judgment and chastisement and obey God’s work. They cannot receive the working of the Holy Spirit.

9. Some people just like to obey and follow antichrists and the wicked men, willing to be the lackeys and accomplices of the devils. They cannot receive the working of the Holy Spirit.

10. Some people follow their own will and turn to their own way, but they insist on its being God’s will and the Holy Spirit’s guidance and go astray. They cannot receive the working of the Holy Spirit.

11. Some people do not obey the leading and shepherding of the man used by the Holy Spirit, but they say that they only obey God and do not listen to man. They cannot receive the working of the Holy Spirit.

12. Some people simply do not walk the way of pursuing the truth, but instead pursue fame, gain, and position, attempting to control people and seek independence. They cannot receive the working of the Holy Spirit.

There are still many other cases that I will not talk about in detail here. The above problems are all practical problems that most people have in varying degrees, and are all obstacles that severely hinder them from entering into the reality of the truth. It is these problems that cause people to have an abnormal relationship with God and cause them to disobey God and resist God and entirely lose the working of the Holy Spirit and thus be eliminated. For example, some people are rejected and expelled for doing all kinds of evil, but they are not convinced and even want to oppose to the end. They do not have any hope of being saved. If one does not resolve these actual problems but just speak doctrines, it is useless, and whatever will or wish he has, he can never fulfill it. If one does not resolve these practical problems, the Holy Spirit will have no way to work in him, and others will not be able to lead him. So, to understand the truth and enter into reality, one must first resolve the various practical problems within him which can cause him to lose the working of the Holy Spirit, purging away the various obstacles and difficulties that hinder him from entering into the reality of the truth. Thus his relationship with God will be normalized, and nothing will hinder him from pursuing the truth. Only when one has taken away the stumbling blocks and removed the formidable obstacles can he enter the right track of believing in God and get on the way of being saved and perfected.

Whether one can receive the working of the Holy Spirit hinges on whether his relationship with God is normal. God works to save man and perfect man, and corrupt mankind believes in God in order to be saved, so they must accept God’s judgment and chastisement and obey God’s work. This is the only way to be saved. No matter how God judges and chastises man, prunes and deals with man, or tries and refines man, it is for saving man and is God’s love, and corrupt mankind should accept and obey it. This is right and proper. One’s normal relationship with God can only be based on his obedience to God’s work. If he cannot obey God’s work, he will not have a normal relationship with God. One’s normal relationship with God is a relationship of absolutely listening to and obeying God. In fact, to believe in God means to believe, trust in, and obey God. If a person resists God and is hostile to God, he will lose his normal relationship with God and become God’s enemy. All antichrists and wicked men are God’s enemies, so God has to deal with them with punishment and destruction. If one is a true believer in God, he should acknowledge and accept the fact that Christ is the truth, the way, and the life, and should absolutely obey God’s work. Then his relationship with God will be the normal relationship in which he believes in, accepts, and absolutely obeys God. As long as one has a normal relationship with God, he will have the working of the Holy Spirit. If there is an obstacle, a barrier, or resistance in his relationship with God, he will lose the working of the Holy Spirit. When a person cannot obey God’s work and stops making progress, he has lost the working of the Holy Spirit; when a person refuses to accept any truth, he has lost the working of the Holy Spirit; and when a person does evil, opposes the truth, and resists God, he has lost the working of the Holy Spirit. All those who do not have the working of the Holy Spirit are ones who do not have a normal relationship with God. From whether a person has the working of the Holy Spirit, we can know whether his relationship with God is normal. We all acknowledge that man has the satanic nature within him and what he expresses are all satanic dispositions, so we must be prayerful and should eat and drink God’s word more often and accept the truth, or else we will easily disobey God, resist God, and stay away from God. Every corrupt human being is directed and bound by his satanic nature and has satanic dispositions and the various fleshly preferences, extravagant desires, intents, and purposes that often hinder him from drawing near to God and obeying God, so it is very hard for us to maintain a normal relationship with God. We can only resolve this problem by often eating and drinking God’s word, seeking the truth, and practicing the truth. Only this will ensure that we will continue to grow in life and get on the way of being perfected. If one has resistance to God in his heart and is estranged from and hostile to God but he cannot resolve this problem with the truth soon or forsake the flesh and practice the truth, then his relationship with God will go wrong and be interrupted, and at the same time, he will lose the working of the Holy Spirit. If it remains unrestored for a long time, he will only be taken captive by satan and return to satan’s camp. For example: Some people, being restrained by their marriage or family, cannot perform their duty or practice the truth, and thus they lose the working of the Holy Spirit; some people, in performing their duty, are always perfunctory and careless and cheat God and cannot practice the truth, and thus they lose the working of the Holy Spirit; some people turn to their own way and always pursue fame, gain, and position, and thus they lose the working of the Holy Spirit; some people simply do not pursue the truth but always hanker after position, fame and gain, and vanity and never repent, and their relationship with God is broken, and thus they lose the working of the Holy Spirit; and some people walk the way of antichrists and they cannot obey God’s work and even resist and oppose God and become God’s enemies, and thus they lose the working of the Holy Spirit forever. The failures of these people have taught us great lessons and have completely confirmed God’s word “It is very important to build a normal relationship with God.” All the obstacles that retard our growth in life and hinder us from having a normal fellowship with God must be removed in time and cleared away as soon as possible, otherwise they will affect our growth in life, and worse still, they will cause us to lose the working of the Holy Spirit. If anyone utters complaints or has the intention of rebelling against God, he will be in greater danger, and he will only be put aside to be exposed and eliminated and delivered to satan. We must draw lessons from this. Since we believe in God, we should walk the way of pursuing the truth to be perfected and should never take the way of antichrists or Judas’ way of betraying God. In believing in God, we should pursue the truth and perform our duty properly and prepare good deeds, which is right and proper, and we should never do evil and resist God. God searches hearts and minds. Whether one has the working of the Holy Spirit can best reveal his nature and substance and the way he walks. As believers in God, we should know an important fact: If the Holy Spirit does not work, man cannot be saved no matter how hard he tries. Those antichrists and wicked men acted wildly and willfully and did all kinds of evil in the churches everywhere, resisting God frenziedly and setting themselves against God. Finally, they all suffered the consequences of their own deeds and brought destruction upon themselves. All those who frenziedly resist and oppose God will die and come to no good end.

One’s practicing the truth is very important to his understanding the truth and entering into reality. If one cannot practice the truth, he will never understand the truth. A person can only gradually understand the truth and enter into reality in the course of his practicing the truth. Practicing the truth is also the key to receiving the working of the Holy Spirit and restoring one’s normal relationship with God. The more one practices the truth, the more revelation and enlightenment of the Holy Spirit he will have. In this way he will understand the truth and enter into reality. I can say that practicing the truth is the only way to understand the truth and enter into reality. When we understand a little of the truth, we should practice that little of it. How much of it we understand, that much of it we should practice. We should not wait until we completely understand the truth to practice it, but rather we should just practice it, to gradually understand its substance during our practice. This is the real process of understanding the truth. For instance, in practicing being an honest person, we begin to practice and enter into this truth when we understand a little of it. While we practice it, we gradually have a deeper and deeper knowledge of it and become more and more clear about the several realities contained in it. Then we experience and practice it in a more and more practical and accurate way, gradually reaching the point of understanding it and entering into reality. This is the real process of experiencing God’s word, practicing the truth, and entering into the reality of the truth. If one understands some of the truth but he never enters into or practices it, he can never enter deeper into the truth. Thus he will not be able to truly understand the truth and enter into reality. All those who have the experience of life can prove this. One’s practicing the truth begins with practicing and experiencing a little of the truth he understands. When he experiences the truth to the point where he understands the substance of the truth, he will have completely entered into the reality of the truth. Only if he promptly practices what he has understood of the truth and practices what he has known of it can he completely enter into the reality of the truth step by step. It is through practicing the truth all the time and gradually having a deeper and deeper experience of it that one reaches the point of understanding it. Any item of the truth will take one at least several years to experience. Take the truth of being an honest person for example. If one does not practice this truth for five to six years or seven to eight years, he can hardly meet the standard for an honest person. This is also true with the truth of obeying God, and even more true with the truth of performing duty and serving God. One has to experience and practice each item of the truth for at least several years before he can enter into the reality of this truth. If one cannot practice the truth, it is empty talk to say that he obeys God. The extent to which one practices the truth will be the extent to which he obeys God. The more one practices the truth, the more he will obey God. Eventually he will reach the point where he can obey God and satisfy God in the things required by God, can stand the testimony in trials, and even can stand on God’s side at crucial moments and be faithful to the end. When one can do God’s will, he will have become a person who truly obeys God. It will take him at least eight to ten years to have such an experience. It is thus clear that practicing the truth has very much to do with entering into the reality of the truth, and it is of critical importance. Only if one often practices the truth can he enter into the reality of the truth. Those who cannot practice the truth will never enter into the reality of the truth.

What does it mean to practice the truth? To be exact, it means to act according to God’s word. Specifically speaking, it means that in each item of the truth, one practices what he has understood, practices what he has known, practices in the way confirmed in his heart that is in accordance with the truth, and practices in the way approved by his conscience that is in accordance with the truth. This is the meaning of practicing the truth, that is, one obeys the will of Heaven and does what he can do as a man. Actually, the significance of practicing the truth is to perform the responsibility and obligation of a created being, to do what a man should do, to live out the real human likeness and be a real man, and to conduct oneself according to the Creator’s requirements for man and live out the image of a real man. This is the significance of practicing the truth. To practice the truth means to live out the image of a real man according to the reality of the truth God requires mankind to possess, and to live according to God’s word, namely, the highest maxim of life. This is the significance of practicing the truth. If one can practice many truths and live by God’s word all his life, this is a human life in a real sense.

We are already very clear about how we should practice the truth to be after God’s heart. But how we should practice the truth in our practical experience, this is the most crucial matter in our entering into life. Most people think that when a person understands the truth, he has reality. This is wrong. Understanding the truth is one thing, and being able to practice it is another. When a person understands the truth, it does not mean that he has entered into reality; only if he practices the truth does it mean that he has entered into reality. There is a long distance between one’s understanding the truth and his practicing the truth accurately and being a person who truly obeys God, which includes the whole real process that he goes through from understanding the truth to having a change in his viewpoints on things and being transformed in his life disposition, and even more includes the real process that he goes through from having a superficial knowledge of the truth to understanding the substance of the truth. In the process one goes through from understanding the truth to practicing the truth, there is an actual difficulty he must resolve, that is, whether he can accept the truth and have true obedience to God in his heart. He must be clear about these most crucial matters. It is no use speaking doctrines. He must resolve the problems, and this is most important. To understand the truth is much easier than to practice the truth. To truly practice the truth, one must meet some requirements. He has to love the truth and obey God, and sometimes he needs to pay a price and suffer something before he can practice it. So, if a person can understand the truth, it does not mean that he loves the truth, much less mean that he can practice the truth and obey God. Only those who can practice the truth are ones who truly love the truth and pursue the truth. Those who cannot often practice the truth are by no means ones who love the truth and pursue the truth. It seems that everyone understands many truths in their heart, but how many of them can they really practice? Why can’t they practice them? This reveals their substance, that is, reveals their nature and disposition. Those who do not love the truth can hardly practice the truth, just as many people say, “I understand all the truths, but I just cannot practice them.” This is because they do not love the truth by nature and they have very serious satanic dispositions and cannot obey the truth. So, to evaluate a person, we should not just see how his words conform to the truth, but more importantly, we should see whether he can practice the truth. Only those who can practice the truth can enter into the reality of the truth and be saved and perfected. All those who understand all the truths without practicing any of them are hypocrites, ones who are arrogant, self-right, and submissive to no one, and ones who hate and reject the truth. All those who do not acknowledge that God’s word is the truth and those who do not accept the truth or practice the truth are unbelievers. Such people can never be saved or perfected.

Whether one can practice the truth is a matter of primary importance in his entering into life. If one eats and drinks God’s word without practicing the truth, this is abnormal. It is absolutely certain that this kind of eating and drinking God’s word is not accepting the truth, much less pursuing the truth, but rather is researching God’s word, doubting God’s word, and doing it perfunctorily and carelessly and going through the motions. If one is truly a lover of the truth, he will understand some truths and accept and practice some truths after a few years of eating and drinking God’s word. When he has begun to understand the truth through eating and drinking God’s word and can practice the truth, he will have begun to enter into reality. Only those who can often practice the truth are ones who truly pursue the truth. There are many people who understand all the truths and seem to be good in qualities and quite smart outwardly, but they simply do not practice the truth. It is certain that none of such people loves the truth. Although some people acknowledge and believe that God’s word is the truth, they fail to practice the truth. This shows that they still have not truly understood and known the truth. So, they are often restrained by all kinds of people, matters, and things and often become passive and utter complaints against God, and they even have notions about God and resist God. Even though they may perform some duty, they fail to meet the requirements and achieve no obvious results. No matter what work they do, they fail to receive others’ approval or consent. If such people can never practice the truth, in substance they are also ones who do not love the truth, and they will only end up being refined in the disasters. Those who do not love the truth are definitely ones who have no humanity. As long as a person does not love the truth in his heart, he cannot practice the truth. Can an evil person do anything just and honorable? How can a crafty person do anything that an honest person does? Those who only speak letters and doctrines but do not practice the truth are all hypocrites and base ones, and they are absolutely not ones who truly understand the truth. Only those who practice the truth are ones who truly understand the truth, and they are definitely ones who love the truth. How can those who truly love the truth often be restrained by all kinds of people, matters, and things in practicing the truth? And how can they fail to do their job well? How can those who truly practice the truth fail to receive the approval and consent of God’s chosen people? Whoever does not practice the truth is never a pursuer of the truth. This is certain. Those who truly understand the truth will act according to the truth. They can at least practice some truths under ordinary circumstances, and if they are not clear about the truth, they will seek the truth. When those who seek the truth find that what others say is in accordance with the truth, they will listen to and obey it spontaneously. For whoever seeks the truth can certainly accept the truth and surely has true obedience. Those who truly understand the truth are not willing to go against the truth, much less willing to oppose the truth, and they will feel painful and tormented in their heart if they go against the truth deliberately. So those who truly understand the truth are most clear in their heart about whether they are practicing the truth. All those who practice the truth can obey God and can do things and perform their duty according to God’s requirements. Of course, their statures are different. The degree of a person’s practice of the truth directly has to do with the depth of his experience of God’s word, but as long as he can practice the truth, he will surely have the revelation and enlightenment of the Holy Spirit and will definitely understand the truth more and more and practice the truth more and more accurately. Such a person can become one who truly obeys God. All those who practice the truth know how they should safeguard God’s work, what they should do to bring benefit to the church work and to God’s chosen people, and what they should do to meet the requirements of God’s word. Those who truly understand the truth are crystal clear about all these in their heart. Only those who do not practice the truth are darkened in their heart and unable to see anything clearly, and when they encounter things, they all are in a complete fog. Those who do not practice the truth definitely do not have the working of the Holy Spirit, and they will never have the reality of the truth. Only those who practice the truth can enter into the reality of the truth and be saved and perfected.

How should we discern whether one is truly practicing the truth? First we should know that only those with a heart that fears God will practice the truth, while those without such a heart will not practice the truth. Even though it seems that they are not going against the truth in their outward practices, they are not practicing the truth. For example, outwardly some people are performing their duty and doing good, but this is mixed with their personal intents and purposes, and in substance they are doing them perfunctorily and carelessly and are deceiving and cheating God’s chosen people. Some of them are even disrupting and disturbing God’s work. This is exactly a practice that resists God. Those who have no truth are all hypocrites. Like the Pharisees, they can only observe regulations, go through the formality, or seek a happy medium to cover up their substance of going against the truth and resisting the truth. Those who truly understand the truth never observe regulations, go through the formality, or seek a happy medium. Whoever does so definitely does not understand the truth. If he really has a heart that fears God and is really a pursuer of the truth, he will realize in his conscience that this is a wrong practice and will seek the truth to correct his mistake as soon as possible. There are mainly three kinds of practices that go against the truth as follows:

1. The practice of observing regulations and going through the formality, which means that one keeps himself from sinning by observing regulations according to his notions and imaginations, but he thinks he is practicing the truth.

2. The fake practice in which one seeks a happy medium, that is, he practices taking the middle road to be a nice person and is content with not offending others or sinning.

3. The practice of opposing the truth directly, that is, the practice of resisting God in which one disrupts and disturbs God’s work in order to achieve his own ends and desires.

The above three practices are all hypocritical practices that cheat God and all manifestations of disobeying God and resisting God. All the antichrists, the wicked men, and the crafty men and all those who do not love the truth often make such practices, but they think that they are practicing the truth. They are hypocritical in substance. The new believers and those who do not understand the truth often fail to discern them and will easily accept these wrong practices and be deceived and caught. If one is a person who truly understands the truth, he will be able to discern these hypocritical practices that resist God and will not be caught and cheated. Certainly, everyone will practice in such ways and go through this inevitable process before he truly understands the truth. But when people truly understand the truth, they will be able to discern these hypocritical and wrong practices spontaneously. This is because the process of practicing the truth and entering into reality is the process of gradually understanding the truth and the process in which people are beginning to be changed in their viewpoints on things and transformed in their life disposition. Therefore, it is normal for them to make deviations and mistakes in their experience. But those who truly pursue the truth will surely correct their mistakes and deviations constantly and eventually enter into the reality of the truth. It is not a simple matter to discern whether a person is truly practicing the truth. When practicing the truth, one has to have a heart that fears God and do it at least on the basis of his conscience, and he should perform his duty and treat others according to the principles in practicing the truth and should safeguard God’s work and bring benefit to God’s chosen people. This is the lowest standard of practicing the truth. When exercising to be an honest person, one will be able to gradually put the truth into practice as he is transformed in his life disposition constantly. Actually, even though people still have not understood the truth, the kindhearted ones know what they should do to safeguard God’s work, what they should do to bring benefit to God’s chosen people, and what they should do to be after God’s heart. This is the feeling of the conscience. So any practice that is below or completely goes against the standard of the conscience definitely goes against the truth and is even doing evil. This is absolute. If one is kindhearted, even if he does not understand the truth, he will not do evil, let alone deliberately go against the truth and oppose God. This is the function of the conscience and an expression of having humanity. When he has truly become an honest person, he will be able to truly practice the truth. Those who truly practice the truth will do things according to their conscience and will safeguard God’s work regardless of the depth of their understanding of the truth, so they are rarely deceitful or perfunctory and careless in performing their duty. This is what the kindhearted ones can do spontaneously. Although they may not fully understand the truth, they know what to do to be right and what to do to be after God’s heart. This is the feeling of the conscience. Therefore, if one can act according to his conscience, most of the time he will not go against the truth. Though sometimes it is not up to the standard of practicing the truth, when he understands the truth and grasps the principles, he will practice the truth spontaneously. Of course, if a person with a conscience can never understand the truth, he can also be fooled or deceived because of having no discernment and even do things of disrupting God’s work because of showing kindness. If a person has a conscience, it only means that he has humanity, but does not mean that he has the truth. He has to equip himself with the truth so that he can become one who has the truth and humanity. As long as a person who has humanity keeps on eating and drinking God’s word and practicing the truth, he will understand the truth and enter into reality. When he truly understands the truth, he will be able to adhere to the principles in practicing the truth and achieve the result that he practices the truth. There are mainly seven principles in practicing the truth that one must adhere to:

1. He must understand God’s will according to God’s word.

2. He must safeguard God’s work.

3. What he does must be of benefit to God’s chosen people.

4. He should seek to achieve results according to the environment and background.

5. He must grasp the several realities of the truth.

6. His practice should be recognized as proper by those who pursue the truth.

7. He should have no condemnation in his conscience and be sure that he will not regret.

If one wants to enter into the reality of the truth, he must first understand the truth and exercise to practice the truth. To practice the truth accurately, he has to know the truth by experiencing God’s word and practicing the truth. Only thus can he grasp the principles in practicing the truth. Only if he practices the truth according to these principles can he achieve the real result, and can he meet the standard of practicing the truth. In fact, only practicing the truth accurately is truly obeying God and is truly exalting God and testifying God. If one cannot practice the truth accurately, it is certain that he has not experienced God’s word and practiced the truth deep enough and still has not achieved the result that he truly understands the truth and knows the truth. Only when he can practice the truth by the principles and to the standard will he have completely entered into the reality of the truth of God’s word. So the extent to which one practices the truth varies with the depth to which he has experienced it. As long as one perseveres in practicing the truth, he can certainly achieve the result that he has completely understood the truth and entered into reality. In the course of our practicing the truth, we must often seek the truth and fellowship about the truth. Practicing in this way, we will understand the truth deeper and deeper, and moreover, we will be kept from making deviations in practicing the truth. In our initial experience of practicing the truth, we all can make some deviations or wrong practices. This is normal. The four practices that we should avoid most in practicing the truth are:

1. The practice of observing regulations. 2. The practice of acting according to one’s own will. 3. The practice of showing kindness. 4. The practice that is with mixtures.

None of these practices is practicing the truth, for they fall short of the standard of practicing the truth. They are the mistakes that people are most prone to make before they truly understand the truth. Usually during the first three to five years of their believing in God, that is, before they have truly entered into the reality of the truth, people often make such practices. This is because there are too many mixtures in them and their corrupt disposition has not been transformed. Therefore, it is unavoidable that they will make deviations in practicing the truth. When they completely understand the truth, they will cast off these wrong practices spontaneously. It is clear that the course of one’s practicing the truth goes from the shallow state to the deep state and from the state of his making deviations to the state of his gradually entering the right track, and it is through constantly exercising to practice the truth that one will gradually enter into the reality of the truth.

The seven principles in practicing the truth are all defined according to the substance of the truth. Only if we understand the substance of the truth can we define the accurate principles in practicing the truth. If one has a heart that fears God, he will seek the truth, deny his own will, and forsake his flesh. This will ensure that he will practice the truth accurately and practically and that he will be without any mixture in practicing the truth, not seeking to be admired or regarded highly by others, but seeking only to satisfy God and comfort God’s heart, seeking only to be a fair person with a clear conscience and be upright, and seeking only to do what is right and proper and never to go against the truth. Thus, he will be more and more accurate and after God’s heart in practicing the truth. Whoever does not have a heart that fears God cannot do so. Anyone who does not truly pursue the truth is unwilling to be serious in the truth, and it is hard for him to practice the truth accurately. To practice the truth accurately, one must put effort into eating and drinking God’s word and must find in God’s word the truths and realities God requires man to practice and enter into, and then practice and exercise according to these truths. Exercising to practice the truth like this, he will understand the truth more and more clearly, and eventually he will completely enter into the reality of the truth of God’s word.

Practicing the truth is the only way to enter into the reality of the truth. One’s practice of the truth will come up to the standard as he has a deeper and deeper understanding of the truth. The Holy Spirit will inspire, enlighten, and guide people to enter into the reality of the truth while they practice the truth. So in the course of practicing the truth, people should persevere regardless of the depth of their understanding of the truth. When they truly understand the substance of the truth, they will have completely entered into the reality of the truth.

All those who understand the truth can realize that Christ is the truth, the way, and the life. So they surely have some practical experiences and knowledge of the truth and of reality. The truth is the expression of God and also the manifestation of God’s disposition and represents what God has and is. The substance of God’s life is the truth and righteousness, and the truth is brimming with the unlimited power and the infinite wisdom. The truths that God has expressed to mankind, of course, are just a drop from the ocean of God’s life and are only the truths and realities mankind needs. So the truths expressed by God are the highest instructions and teachings to mankind and even more the highest maxims of life for mankind. The substance of the truth fully embodies fairness, justice, and righteousness as well as selflessness and fearlessness, and it is completely upright and honorable. When we practice the truth, even though we do it very partially and shallowly and sometimes we are still far from practicing the substance of the truth, we already feel it so good to practice like this, and we are already greatly admired and approved by others. If we keep practicing and experiencing the truth, when we can put all the realities of the truth into practice, we will have completely entered into the light and will definitely be ones approved by God and, of course, also be ones perfected by God. This is the significance of practicing the truth. Actually, when one lives out the likeness of a real man, he will have had the reality of the truth. When one has entered into the reality of the truth, he will naturally live out the likeness of a real man and the image of the truth. The image of the truth lived out by him will completely conform with the likeness of a real man. Before, all people took the good men as real men for them to imitate, considering them to be the only ones with the likeness of a real man. But after we understand the truth by experiencing God’s work, we see that actually the good men spoken of by people are not really good, and they do not have the reality of the truth of God’s word at all and fall far short of the standard and the principles of the truth. Now we have seen corrupt mankind’s pitiful condition of having no truth. If men can accept all the truths expressed in God’s word as their life, the image of the truth they live out will be the likeness of a real man, which is so much better than that of the so-called good men among the corrupt mankind. This is the true meaning of human life spoken of by God’s word. The realities of the truths expounded in God’s word are the highest maxims of life for mankind. If we according to God’s word practice to be an honest person and practice to obey God, be faithful to God, testify God, exalt God, serve God, and worship God, we will completely enter into the reality of the truth unconsciously. If one has lived out the realities of the truths of these aspects, it means that he has lived out the likeness of a real man with the image of the truth.

The experience of life one goes through from his eating and drinking God’s word and exercising to practice the truth to his having completely entered into the reality of the truth is mainly divided into three stages. During the first three to five years of his believing in God, one mainly eats and drinks God’s word. He focuses his practice on examining himself and trying to know his true corrupt condition and the substance of his nature and to know how God works to save man and perfect man in eating and drink God’s word. Besides, he exercises to perform his duty and preach the gospel to testify God. Although this is not up to the standard of practicing the truth, it is a way to understand the truth. Because this is the stage in which he lays his foundation in the true way, he must exercise like this until he is clear about the vision and has laid his foundation in the true way and can never be deceived or used by men but can stand on his own by trusting in God and pursuing the truth. Then the first stage of his experience of life is completed. After he has gained a true knowledge of his corrupt substance and condition, when he has begun to forsake his flesh, pursue the truth, and perform his duty willingly, he has entered into the second stage of his experience of life. At this point, he has begun to understand the truth and pay attention to practicing the truth. In eating and drinking God’s word, he has begun to obey God’s judgment and chastisement, and in performing his duty, he can seek the truth and pursue the truth. However, he has to experience many prunings and dealings, trials and refinings, and failures and setbacks so that he can enter into the reality of the truth gradually. Although he still expresses many corruptions, he can know himself and truly repent and can pursue the truth and strive forward. So while he understands the truth, he can also practice some truths and has begun to have the real experience of life. This is his real state in the second stage of his experience of life. When he has entered into the third stage of his experience of life, he can gradually practice the truth in an accurate way. Because he has experienced many prunings and dealings and trials and refinings and God’s disciplines and even God’s punishment and he has had the real experience of life and understood some truths, he can pursue the truth with the aim of knowing God. After he has entered into the third stage of the experience of life, his practice of the truth mainly involves practicing the truth and obeying God in performing his duty. He will practice to be an honest person and exercise to care for God’s will and be faithful to God’s commission until he has got on the way of pursuing the truth to be perfected. However, he has to experience more trials and refinings or severer judgment and chastisement as well as smiting and discipline to achieve a better result. If he can keep pursuing the truth, pursuing to be transformed in his disposition, and pursuing to know God, eventually when the transformation of his life disposition can be seen in him, he will have completely entered into the reality of the truth. This is his real state in the third stage of his experience of life. He who has entered into the third stage of the experience of life will practice the truth quite accurately, being able not to swerve to the right or to the left but fully achieve the results. He will be experiencing being perfected by God and will gradually be fit for God’s use. In this way, he gradually goes deeper and deeper in practicing the truth. When he practices the truth in a completely accurate way and to the standard, he will be a person truly obedient to God and will have completely entered into the reality of the truth. It is clear that practicing the truth is the way to enter into the reality of the truth and also the way to be saved and perfected. Only those who practice the truth can reach the point of being saved and perfected. Whoever eats and drinks God’s word without paying attention to practicing the truth is not a true pursuer of the truth. From the fate of those false leaders and antichrists who always speak letters and doctrines to deceive people and who have no reality of the truth at all, we can see that those who eat and drink God’s word without practicing the truth do not have God’s blessing. Only those who practice the truth have the working of the Holy Spirit. Having the working of the Holy Spirit is a mark of being approved and blessed by God. All those who do not have the working of the Holy Spirit are ones not approved or blessed by God. All those who pursue the truth should see this clearly: Regardless of the depth of his understanding of the truth, one has to practice the truth so that he can truly understand the truth and enter into reality. Those who have believed in God for years but still do not practice the truth or repent are all ones bound to be eliminated and punished. This is beyond doubt. “Those who truly believe in God are ones who are willing to practice God’s word, ones who are willing to practice the truth. Those who can truly stand God’s testimony are also ones who are willing to practice God’s word and who can truly stand on the side of the truth. Those who practice crookedness and do unrighteousness are all ones who have no truth and who bring shame to God. Those who stir up strife in the church are the servants of satan and the embodiments of satan. Such people are too malicious. Those who have no discernment and cannot stand on the side of the truth are all ones who have wicked intentions and defile the truth. They are even more typical representatives of satan and are irredeemable ones. Such people are of course ones to be eliminated.” (from “Warnings to Those Who Do Not Practice the Truth” in The Word Appears in the Flesh)

This preaching must be fellowshipped together with three pieces of God’s word: “Practice the Truth After Understanding It,” “Only by Practicing the Truth Can One Have Reality,” and “Warnings to Those Who Do Not Practice the Truth.
