Chapter 37. He Who Lacks the Truth Cannot Lead Others
Do you really understand about changes in one’s disposition? What does a change in disposition mean? Are you able to recognize a change in disposition? Which situations can be considered changes in one’s life disposition, and which situations are merely changes in outer behavior? What is the difference between a change in one’s outer behavior and a change in one’s inner life? Can you tell the difference? You see someone eager to run around for the church, and you say: “He has changed!” You see someone forsake their family or job, and you say: “She has changed!” If they have made such a sacrifice, you think they surely must have changed. That’s how you see things. Some people are even more absurd; they observe someone forsaking their family or job, and they say: “Wow, this person really loves God!” Today, you say this person loves God, tomorrow you say someone else loves God. If you see someone preaching endlessly, you say: “Wow, this person has known God. He has attained the truth. If he did not know God, how could he have so much to say?” Isn’t that how you see things? Indeed, this is how most of you see people and things. You always honor others with crowns and sing their praises. Today you give someone a crown for loving God, tomorrow you give someone else a crown for knowing God, for being faithful to God. You’re an expert in giving others crowns. Every day, you honor others with crowns and sing their praises, and the result is to their detriment, yet you even feel proud for doing so. The person whom you praise is swollen with pride all day long and says to themselves: “Wow, I’ve changed! I will receive the crown. I’m confident of success.” Can you not see how you are digging a pit for them? They have yet to set foot on the right track of believing in God, yet they feel as if they’ve already made it. Are you not thereby effecting their ruination? How many times have you done such a terrible thing? You can neither provide others with life nor dissect their situations, all you know how to do is honor them with crowns. The result is to cause their ruination. Don’t you know that corrupt people cannot sustain the praise of others? Even without being praised, people already feel high and mighty, their heads swollen with pride. If you praise them, won’t their demise come even sooner? You don’t know what it means to love God, to know God, or to expend for God wholeheartedly. You understand none of these things. All you do is view things based on their appearance, make a hasty judgment, sing the praises of others and honor them with crowns. So many people you have harmed! When you praise others in this way, they will fall. They become self-satisfied, begin relishing in your praise, and speak arrogantly. At church, they constantly chide others and act domineeringly. When you work this way, you’re leading others into a bottomless pit. Aren’t you like an assassin with an invisible knife? What does it mean for someone to love God? Those who love God must be like Peter, they must have been perfected, and they must have reached the end of their path. Only God can conclude who loves Him, and God can see into people’s hearts. People may not have such insight, so how can they define others? Only God knows who truly loves Him. Even if someone has a God-loving heart, they dare not say that they are a God-loving person. God said that Peter loved Him, but Peter himself never said that he was a God-loving person. So how can you praise others so casually? This is not the duty of man. To do so is utterly insensible. Only God knows who loves Him and only God can say who loves Him. If a person makes such claims, he is standing in the wrong place. When you praise and commend others whilst standing in God’s position, whom are you representing? God would never praise or commend others. After making Peter complete, it was not until doing this stage of work that God referred to him as an exemplar. At the time, God never said such words to anyone. Only when doing this stage of work did He make such remarks. Everything that God does is of significance. How absurd and ridiculous it is for man to casually say that someone is a God-loving person! First, they are standing in the wrong place. Second, this is not for man to conclude. What does it mean to sing the praises of people? It means harming them, confusing them, fooling them. Third, objectively speaking, the effect is that not only do you not put others on the right track, but you even disturb their normal entry and bring them trouble. If you go around saying so-and-so loves God, so-and-so is loyal to God, or so-and-so has made sacrifices, won’t everyone try to imitate that person’s outward behavior? Not only did you not put people on the right track, but you have led most of them to the outside. Having been misguided to receive the crown for their outward actions, they unwittingly step onto the path of Paul. Is that not the effect? As you say this, are you aware of these problems? From whose position are you standing? What role are you playing? What is the objective effect? Finally, on what path have you led them? To what extent have you entrapped them? The consequences of such work are very serious. Some workers are like that. Not only can they not do the work of providing those below with life, but their actions are destructive and disruptive, sending people on the path of Paul, yet they think they are good leaders and feel proud of themselves. According to your current ways, can you bring others onto the right track? Exactly onto what path can you take others? Are you not taking all of them onto the path of Paul? The way I see it, that is indeed the case; it is not an exaggeration. It can be said that you are all Paul-like leaders, leading others onto the path of Paul. And you still want to receive the crown? You will be fortunate enough if you are not condemned. With such practices, you are resisting God; you serve God, yet you resist Him and become an expert in disrupting His work. If you continue in this way, you will ultimately become a false shepherd, a false worker, a false apostle. This is the era of kingdom training. If you don’t put efforts into the truth and focus solely on your work, you will unknowingly step onto the path of Paul and beget many others just like Paul. Will you not thus become one who resists God and interrupts His work? Therefore, if those who serve God do not put people on the right track and earn God’s approval, then they are resisting God. These are the only two paths. There are few who succeed, and many who fail. When doing great things, the result is great success or great failure. For you, if you continue on your present path without turning around, the result will be great failure. You will become a God-resisting evildoer, false worker, false apostle, false shepherd. If you start getting on the right track now, truly embark on the path of Peter, then you can still become a God-approving worker, apostle, good leader and good shepherd. If you do not seek perfection, if you do not seek to enter the reality of the word of God, then you will find yourself in danger. Given your ignorance, lack of experience and immaturity, all that can be done is to communicate the truth with you insofar as possible so that you may understand. Because today is much different from the time of Peter and Paul. In those days, Jesus had not yet done the work of judging man, chastising man, or changing man’s disposition. Today, the incarnation of God has stated the truth so transparently. But you still take the path of Paul, which shows that your comprehensive abilities are flawed and further indicates that, like Paul, you are too evil, and too arrogant in your disposition. That era was different from today, and the context was different. Today, the word of God is so bright and so clear; it is as if He has reached His hand out to teach and lead you. If you still take the wrong path, that is truly unjustifiable. In addition, today, there are two typical figures, one positive and one negative, one an exemplar and the other a warning. If you take the wrong path, it means you have made the wrong choice. If you are so evil, then you have no one to blame but yourself. Only he who has the truth can lead others. He who lacks the truth can only lead others astray.
