Sermons and Fellowship About God’s Word “How to Know the God on Earth” (VII)
How to Know the God on Earth (Selection)
Now, the problems set before you are many, and none of you are adept at bringing about solutions. Should this continue, then the ones who stand to lose are only yourselves. I will help you recognize the problems, but it rests on you to find the solutions.
I very much appreciate those who harbor no suspicion about others and very much like those who readily accept the truth; to these two kinds of men I show great care, for in My eyes they are the honest. If you are very cunning, then you will have a guarded heart and thoughts of suspicion regarding all matters and all men. For this reason, your faith in Me is built upon a foundation of suspicion. Such manner of faith is one I shall never acknowledge. Without true faith, then your love is far from true love. And if you even doubt God and speculate about Him at will, then you are certainly the most cunning of men. You speculate whether God can be like man: unpardonably sinful, of petty character, without fairness and reason, lacking a sense of righteousness, employing measures of malice, treachery, and cunning, as well as being pleased by evil and darkness, and so on. Is not the reason that man has such thoughts because man has not the slightest knowledge of God? Such manner of faith is nothing short of sin! Moreover, there are even some who believe that I am pleased by none other than those who ingratiate and fawn, and that those who know nothing of such things will be unpopular and be unable to keep their place in the house of God. Is this the knowledge you have received over these many years? Is this what you have gained? And your knowledge of Me is far from only such misunderstandings; much more, there is your blasphemy against God’s Spirit and vilification of Heaven. This is why I say that such manner of faith as yours will only cause you to stray further from Me and be in greater opposition against Me. Throughout many years of work, you have seen many truths, but do you know what My ears have heard? How many among you are willing to accept the truth? You all believe that you are willing to pay the price for the truth, but how many have truly suffered for the truth? All that exists in your hearts is iniquity, and hence you believe that anyone, no matter who, is cunning and crooked. You even believe that God incarnate would be as a normal man: without a heart of kindness or a benevolent love. Moreover, you believe that a noble character and a merciful, benevolent nature exist only within the God in heaven. And you believe that such a saint does not exist, and that only darkness and evil reign on earth, while God is merely a glorious goal upon which man places hope, and a legendary figure fabricated by man. In your hearts, the God in heaven is very upright, righteous, and great, worthy of worship and reverence, but this God on earth is merely a substitute and instrument of the God in heaven. You believe this God cannot be equivalent to the God in heaven, much less be mentioned in the same breath as Him. When it comes to the greatness and honor of God, they belong to the glory of the God in heaven, yet when it comes to the nature and corruption of man, they are attributed to the God on earth. The God in heaven is forever lofty, while the God on earth is forever insignificant, weak, and incompetent. The God in heaven is not given to emotion, only righteousness, while the God on earth only has selfish motives and is without any fairness or reason. The God in heaven has not the slightest crookedness and is forever faithful, while the God on earth always has a dishonest side. The God in heaven loves man dearly, while the God on earth cares for man inadequately, even neglecting him entirely. This erroneous knowledge has long been kept within your hearts and may also be perpetuated onward in the future. You regard all deeds of Christ from the standpoint of the unrighteous and judge all His work and His identity and substance from the perspective of the wicked. You have made a grave mistake and done that which has never been done by those before you. That is, you only serve the lofty God in heaven with a crown upon his head and never attend to the God you regard as so insignificant as to be unseen. Is this not your sin? Is this not the typical example of your offense against the disposition of God? You very much worship the God in heaven. You very much adore lofty figures and esteem those with great eloquence. You are gladly commanded by the God that gives you handfuls of riches, and greatly pine for the God who can fulfill your every desire. The only one you do not worship is this God who is not lofty; your sole object of hatred is association with this God whom no man can regard highly. The only thing you are unwilling to do is to serve this God who has never given you a single penny, and the only one for whom you do not yearn is this unlovely God. Such kind of God cannot enable you to broaden your horizons, to feel as if you have found a treasure, much less fulfill what you wish. Why, then, do you follow Him? Have you given thought to this question?
What you do does not merely offend this Christ, but more importantly, offends the God in heaven. I think that this is not the purpose of your faith in God! You desire greatly for God to delight in you, yet you are very far away from God. What is the matter here? You accept only His words, yet not His dealing or pruning, much less His every arrangement. Moreover, you are unable to have complete faith in Him. What, then, is the matter here? Fundamentally, your faith is an empty eggshell that can never give rise to a chick. For your faith has not brought you the truth or gained you life, and has instead brought you an illusory sense of hope and support. The purpose of your faith in God is for this hope and support rather than for the truth and life. Therefore, I say that the course of your faith in God is none other than trying to gain the favor of God through servility and shamelessness, and can in no way be deemed a true faith. How can a chick appear from faith such as this? In other words, what fruit can such manner of faith bear? The purpose of your faith in God is to fulfill your motives through making use of God. Is this not further a fact showing your offense against the disposition of God? You believe in the existence of the God in heaven but deny that of the God on earth. However, I approve not of your views. I commend only those men who keep their feet on the ground and serve the God on earth, never those who never acknowledge the Christ on earth. No matter how loyal such men are to the God in heaven, in the end, they will not escape My hand that punishes the wicked. Such men are the wicked; they are the wicked ones who resist God and have never gladly obeyed Christ. Of course, their number includes all those who do not know and, further, do not acknowledge Christ. You believe that you can act as you please toward Christ as long as you are loyal to the God in heaven. Wrong! Your ignorance of Christ is ignorance too of the God in heaven. No matter how loyal you are to the God in heaven, it is merely empty words and pretense, for the God on earth is not only instrumental in man receiving the truth and more profound knowledge, but even more instrumental in the condemnation of man and afterward in seizing the facts to punish the wicked. Have you understood the benefits and consequences here? Have you experienced them? I wish for you to one day soon understand this truth: To know God, you must know not only the God in heaven but, more importantly, the God on earth. Do not confuse what holds priority or allow the subordinate to supersede the dominant. Only in this way can you truly build a good relationship with God, become closer to God, and draw your heart closer to Him. If you have been of the faith for many years and long associated with Me, yet remain distant from Me, then I say it must be that you often offend the disposition of God, and your end will be very difficult to reckon. If the many years of association with Me have not changed you into a man who has humanity and the truth, and instead your evil ways become ingrained in your nature, if you are not only doubly arrogant but your misunderstandings of Me become even more grievous, such that you come to regard Me as your sidekick, then I say that your affliction is not skin deep, but has penetrated into your bones. And all you can do is wait and prepare for your funeral! You need not beseech Me then to be your God, for you have committed a sin deserving of death, an unforgivable sin. Even if I could have mercy on you, the God in heaven will insist on taking your life, for your offense against the disposition of God is no ordinary problem, but one very grave in nature. When the time comes, do not blame Me for not having informed you beforehand. It all comes back to this: When you associate with the Christ—the God on earth—as an ordinary man, that is, when you believe that this God is nothing but a man, it is then that you shall perish. This is My only admonishment to you all.”
We have just read the last few passages of this piece of God’s word. What did they discuss? They discussed the problems that exist for man, about what conceptions and misunderstandings people have of the God on earth, in other words, Christ incarnate. Everything the word of God reveals is the fact. Some people say, “How should I know the God on earth? The word of God shows various sorts of conceptions and misunderstandings that man has toward God, but what is the relationship between this and knowing God?” Do you all think these things are related? Of course, they are related. The word of God is the truth. Right now you may not understand why God says these things, but sooner or later you will come to understand. The problems that exist for man, man’s conceptions, misunderstandings, resistance, judgment and even betrayal of God, if these practical problems cannot be solved, will man be able to achieve knowledge of God? No. So then what is the process for knowing God? To put it precisely, it is a process of continuously resolving your conceptions, your disobedience, your absurdities and your judgments. If you continuously solve these problems, then you will attain an understanding of the truth, and through understanding the truth, you will come to have knowledge of God. So is it necessary for God to reveal mankind’s corrupt disposition and their conceptions, misunderstandings, and imaginations of God? And is this related in any way to man knowing the God on earth? It is related. Some people, without paying very much attention, say, “These words do not have anything to do with me, I do not judge the God on earth in this way.” You not judging is not the same as you having no judgments. Can you accept this? Most people say they can. Those who have experience say they can, those who do not have experience do not understand this, and so they stay silent. Some people say, “At the very least, I do not have any conceptions now.” But can this guarantee that later on you will not have any conceptions? Some people have never seen Christ, but does this mean that they do not have any conceptions about Christ? Some people have never seen Christ, so they rely on their imagination and think Christ ought to be such and such, and Christ ought to act in such and such ways toward people. However, when they see Christ, if He does not match their imagination, then their conceptions immediately arise. Some people say, “I will never judge Christ, because Christ would never do those unimaginable things to me.” These words do not hold up. Some people, when they are dealt with, when God deals with them, they cannot accept this, and conceptions, disobedience, and resistance arise. Some people say, “When God deals with people, they have conceptions, disobedience and resistance. Then, when He is not dealing with them, these things definitely won’t arise.” Are these words correct? Most people say they are not. If you have not seen Christ, that is not the same as you not having any conceptions about Christ. Some people give rise to conceptions when they read the word of God, or when they see certain things or the displays of some people within God’s household. There are even some people who can give rise to conceptions about God when they see how I preach and fellowship. Isn’t this a fact? When some people see that I speak harshly and without constraint, they say, “How could God use this kind of person? He has no love, how can he speak so harshly?” Aren’t these judgments? Do you understand me? You judge me after seeing my harsh way of speaking. Have you kept company with me? Could it be that everything I say is so harsh? Is there nothing gentle about me? Do I have a lot of gentleness? Do I have enough love? Do I have enough patience? You judge me just because you see that I sometimes say harsh things. This isn’t right, it isn’t fair. Am I right? Christ says harsh things. Are there times when Christ says gentle things? Yes, there are. Christ provides for God’s chosen people with the utmost patience and tolerance. If you look at just one aspect while ignoring another aspect, this is a problem with the way your brain thinks, isn’t it? Some people hear me “curse” somebody once and they say “you’re cursing people.” But actually, I do not curse people, I am just saying actual facts. If there is anything to curse at, it is the devil Satan. Now, is cursing the devil Satan the same as scolding people? Is the devil Satan a man? For instance, there are some people who are tired of the truth, who hate the truth, and I say that these people are bastards, but is this cursing them? Aren’t these people bastards? You all say they are. Since these people are bastards, I say that they are bastards. This is called being true to the facts, this is called hitting the nail on the head. I am fully expressing their essence. How could this be called cursing people? To curse someone is to say filthy things, judgmental things, nasty things, disparaging things, or offensive things about them. This is cursing people. Saying things that conform to the facts is not cursing people, it’s called telling it as it is. Am I right? If someone is clearly a bastard, or if someone is clearly a devil, and you force me to call them a human, then this is called distorting the truth and misrepresenting the facts. Isn’t that so? So, for those of us who believe in God, when we speak we cannot follow a set of rules. We must pay particular attention to reality, to conforming to the truth and to the facts. These are the principles by which we speak.
Let us read a passage of God’s word: “Now, the problems set before you are many, and none of you are adept at bringing about solutions. Should this continue, then the ones who stand to lose are only yourselves. I will help you recognize the problems, but it rests on you to find the solutions.” These are truly meaningful and heartfelt words. When reading God’s words, do you all have the feeling that “the words of God are so true, they are all spoken from the heart?” We read these words from God. He says: “Now, the problems set before you are many, and none of you are adept at bringing about solutions.” Isn’t this the fact? This is the fact. Now if many problems exist in believing in God, should they be solved? If these problems are not solved, if you just close your eyes and believe, what will be the outcome? God says: “Should this continue, then the ones who stand to lose are only yourselves.” What does “stand to lose” refer to? It means to suffer losses. So then what is suffering losses referring to? What losses do we suffer by believing in God? We must understand these things clearly. People in the religious community don’t know what “stand to lose” means. Here God is using human language to explain this problem. What people “stand to lose” is that ultimately, because certain people never solve these problems, these people do not receive rewards nor the blessing of God. Isn’t this losing? For some people, if they keep pursuing the truth then they will be able to become God’s people. However, they don’t pursue the truth, and they just resign themselves to performing services willingly. As a result, they become service-doers, not God’s people. Isn’t this level a step down? When rewards are meted out based on merit in the kingdom of heaven, then they’re service-doers. This is called losing. Some people are God’s people, and they have some of the reality of the truth, but they have not achieved perfection, they are not priests. Isn’t this something that they stand to lose? They will suffer losses because of this. If someone is able to receive the truth and bear witness to God, then they will become a priest, and in the next age—the Age of the Millennial Kingdom—they will be able to become a priest in service of God. As another example, there are some people who could become service-doers if they performed their duties diligently, but they just practice their faith in their spare time. They come to assemblies and they listen to sermons, but they do not perform their duties, so they are not even good enough to be service-doers, and as a result they will be eliminated. Isn’t this losing? You see many people nowadays say, “I never want to be a leader or a worker, being a leader or a worker would be so tiring!” As a result, they seek simple pleasures and just follow the tide of the world, but what will become of them when one day calamity befalls us? They will be punished for not possessing the truth, isn’t this losing? If you do not perform your duty, if you do not act as a leader, if you do not endure the hardships that you ought to endure, then can you be perfected? You cannot be perfected. If you seek simple pleasures of the flesh, if you do not pursue the truth, if you are afraid of suffering hardships, if you are afraid to assume responsibilities, then what will ultimately become of you? You will not be perfected by God, you will not receive the truth. Isn’t this something that you stand to lose? Why is it that you are afraid to assume responsibilities? Isn’t it because you’re afraid of suffering hardships? Some people say, “I can’t be a leader. If I were a leader and I made some mistakes, God’s family would immediately expel me. So, I would be better off as one of God’s people. I’ll be one of God’s people who listens to sermons and attends assemblies. That way I will be safe and I will never be expelled.” What kind of thing is this to say? Was this said by an intelligent person? The person who said this is someone who does not seek to improve themselves, who does not love the truth. Will this kind of person ultimately suffer losses? They will certainly suffer losses. It’s like those students at school who ignore their studies to go have fun. They feel that their life is very comfortable until in the end they are eliminated because of their exam scores. Some cannot even get into college and they are forced to get low-level jobs. Aren’t these losses that they suffer? So, when experiencing the work of God, the practical problems of man’s conceptions, misunderstandings, and judgments of God must be solved. If they are not solved, you will continue to lose and suffer losses. What kind of losses will you suffer? Your life will suffer losses. In the end, when the Lord appears publicly, there will be some who will have no share in the kingdom, and some who will not receive any rewards. This is called standing to lose, is it not?
Now, if you are a smart person, shouldn’t you seek the truth without delay in order to solve the problems that exist within you? You should solve however many problems you have without delay. If you solve these problems you have before God’s work is finished, then in the process of solving these problems you will come to understand some truths, and in this way you will come to have some knowledge of God. How do you achieve understanding of the truth? It is achieved by solving problems, because when you are solving problems you need to seek the truth, and when you seek the truth you will be eating and drinking the word of God, and when you eat and drink the word of God you will be praying, searching and pondering things over, and then God will enlighten you. In this way, when you come to truly understand the truth, you will know yourself, and you will see the problems that exist within you. When you truly understand the truth you will be able to thoroughly understand and see clearly your own corruption and the conceptions and imagination you have of God. When this time comes, you will be able to hate yourself and hate the flesh, then you will be able to betray Satan and forsake the flesh, and you will start to enter into the reality of the truth. When you start to carry out the truth, to obey God, and to consider God’s will, won’t this be the time that you achieve entry into the reality of the truth? If we are able to solve the practical problems that exist within ourselves, then what will be the benefits and gains that we will receive? We will understand the truth, and know how to obey God, what it means to be compatible with God. We will no longer rebel or resist God, we will be able to obey God. Aren’t these the effects that we will receive? If these effects can be achieved, then won’t man have knowledge of God? So, for the issue of “how to know the God on earth,” we must focus on solving the problems that exist within ourselves. If we are able to solve these problems, then we will have knowledge of God, and based on this knowledge of God, it will be easy to obey God, we will be able to consider God’s will and be compatible with God. If you pay no heed to these problems, pay no attention to them, do not seek the truth to solve them, then will they go away on their own? You all say they will not. Why will they not go away on their own? We have seen that there are many people who believe in God but who are not interested in the truth. Regardless of whatever events befall them, they still do not seek the truth, and as a result they make no progress and go through no changes even after believing for many years, isn’t this a fact? If man does not seek the truth or accept the truth, then can his corrupt disposition be cleansed and transformed? It cannot. To link these problems together, if man does not seek to use the truth to solve the practical problems he faces within himself, then can these problems go away automatically? Of course they cannot. This is a fact that you ought to understand! Now, after we come to understand these aspects of the truth, we ought to reflect on ourselves to see what kind of conceptions, imaginations, judgments and resistance we actually have toward God. How do we reflect on ourselves? Some people say, “I have never seen the appearance of Christ, nor have I ever kept company with Him, so I have no conceptions whatsoever within me.” Can these words stand? These words are half correct, but they cannot stand. Why do I say they cannot stand? Never having seen Christ is not the same as not having an imagination about Christ, it is not the same as having no conceptions about Christ, right? There are many people who hear negative propaganda when they are spreading the gospel, giving rise to conceptions. What’s the problem? Have they seen Christ? They have not seen Christ. So why is it that these people give rise to conceptions about God after hearing negative propaganda from the great red dragon or after hearing condemnations and resistance from the religious world? What is the problem here? Do you understand Christ? You do not understand Him, so how is it that you are able to give rise to conceptions about Him? You believe in the words of the devil Satan. What is the problem here? Why is it that you believe in the words of the devil Satan? Why is it that you do not believe in the words of Christ? Why do you not believe that Christ is the truth, the way and the life? Isn’t this a very serious problem? Eve was seduced by Satan into committing a sin. Then isn’t it also a sin for you to believe the rumors spread by Satan? If you accept the negative propaganda of Satan, then you are resisting God! These people have never seen Christ, and they certainly have never kept company with Him, but they have already started to condemn and resist Christ. Seeds of resistance to Christ have been planted in their hearts. You can see that the rumors and lies of Satan have already entered into their minds.
There are many people who have gathered together in the house of God and listened to sermons for many years, but after hearing the negative propaganda of the great red dragon and Satan, they start to get some ideas in their heads. However, they do not retreat, there’s just something vague within them that they are unsure of. They weigh different things and go over the options in their mind and think to themselves, “Satan’s words are not right, they are ill-founded. Based on my understanding of God, that is not the way things are.” You see, they are able to not back away. How is it that they are able to not back away? Because they often eat and drink the word of God, they have some knowledge of God, and so they are able to resist, they have this immunity. Those who have never gathered together and listened to sermons before will accept the words of Satan after they hear them, taking them as the truth. What’s going on here? It is a very critical matter whether or not you have an understanding of Christ, isn’t it? You see some people who have just accepted the work of God in the last days come to church to listen to sermons, their eyes are fixed, looking at the brothers and sisters, realizing that they’re all strangers. “I am not familiar with these people. Who are all these people? I must observe them, carefully observe them.” Then they observe them and study them constantly. After studying for a long time, they think, “These people aren’t bad, they are all focusing on the truth, they really seem much smarter than those religious people. They know to focus all their efforts toward the truth; they are aware of what the truth is and what the voice of God is. Wow, these people really are quite lovely, it is much better to get along with these people rather than with those religious people.” What has happened here? After getting to know and understand these people, they feel more secure in their hearts. Isn’t that so? So, in experiencing God’s work of the last days, we eat and drink God’s word every day. By listening to sermons and fellowships, we understand more and more of the truth, and more about ourselves. At last, we achieve knowledge of God, reverence for God, and obedience for God. This is the process for attaining salvation.
There are some people who realize after about a year of entering the Church of Almighty God that it is different from the religious world in that here people gather every day to fellowship in the word of God, and that we always gather together to fellowship the truth. Within the religious world, they are always studying the Bible, discussing theological theories, and making people understand words and doctrines, but they do not discuss reality. The Church of Almighty God specializes in eating and drinking the word of God, the actual word of God, in fellowshiping the truth, and in paying particular attention to reality. To gather together in this way, to eat and drink the word of God in this way, how could you not make progress or go through changes? You will certainly make progress, you will all be changed. Believe in God for one year and you will receive one year’s worth of rewards. Believe in God for two years and you will receive two years’ worth of rewards. The longer you believe, the more of the truth you will come to understand. The longer you believe, the more you will come to know God. Isn’t this the way it is? In the past there were many people who could never get past the normal humanity of God incarnate. When fellowshiping the truth of the incarnation, they would say: “God must clothe Himself in normal humanity, to be clothed in flesh is to have normal humanity, normal humanity must be in the flesh, the flesh must have normal humanity, and He must have normal humanity.” “Oh, there must be normal humanity, but what is the purpose of this?” To make it easy to live among men, because men are not spiritual bodies. If God were to live among angels, He would not clothe Himself in flesh, because angels themselves are spiritual bodies and God too is a Spirit. But if God is to live among men, and carry out work among men, then He must clothe Himself in the flesh, He must have normal humanity. Those who cannot bear to see the normal humanity of God incarnate, who always use this normal humanity to judge and deny God, aren’t these the most foolish and ignorant people? Aren’t these the most foolish people? You really cannot get any more foolish than these people. Those who cannot accept the normal humanity of Christ insist that Christ should only have divinity. Even if He appears in the flesh, they say that it must be a supernatural flesh, “With one word He could perform miracles, with one word He could move mountains and shake the earth. That is God!” Aren’t they absurd people for thinking this? Those who cannot accept the normal humanity of God incarnate have their conceptions, whenever they see His normal humanity they will deny God, “Isn’t this a man? Isn’t this a man? It is God who we should believe in!” So then, would it be okay for God to appear in the flesh without being clothed in humanity? If you want to believe in the spiritual body of God, then go to heaven to practice your beliefs, for you will never find this here on earth. But can you ascend to heaven? Can you deliver yourself to heaven? Do you have that ability? If you don’t have that ability, then don’t challenge God, right? But God is considerate of man’s difficulties, man cannot deliver himself to heaven, so then God has to trouble Himself and clothe Himself in the flesh to carry out His work among men. Then, it is good enough for God to work and speak in humanity. In this way, He is able to be in contact with man, and when people see Him, they will not be terrified, flee, or fall to the ground paralyzed. Am I right?
Now are you able to accept the normal humanity of Christ? If Christ were facing you and said the following: “Eh? When I stepped out today the weather was so nice, where did this rain come from all of a sudden? I wouldn’t have expected this!” Would you have any conceptions? Some people would think, “You’re God, how could You not know this? Are You not actually God?” Wouldn’t there be people that would think this? If Christ were to say, “Today I ate some cold food, and now My stomach hurts.” there would be some people that would think: “Hey! You’re just like us, Your stomach hurts whenever You eat cold things too, so You can’t be God.” What kind of conceptions and imagination are these? Do you actually understand what is meant by normal humanity? I feel like there are many people who do not understand what is meant by normal humanity. Whenever they see the normal humanity of Christ, they deny Christ and they doubt God. Aren’t these absurd people? No matter how we fellowship the truth of the incarnation, these people still do not understand, they do not relate it to reality. Do you think it is all empty talk without reason? How do you think that most of man’s conceptions and imagination of God are actually produced? Can you figure this out? Man cannot have a pure understanding of the word of God, man cannot receive all of the truths expressed in the word of God, man always talk emptily of God’s word, without conforming or matching it up with reality. So, after fellowshiping the truth, they still have conceptions about the actual things that befall them. Aren’t they absurd for being like this? Don’t they lack spiritual understanding? Christ has normal humanity. Some things that do not conform to man’s conceptions and imagination are caused by man’s lack of knowledge of normal humanity. For example, if someone asks a question and Christ hears it but doesn’t understand, He might say: “What is the meaning of the question you have raised, what is this question all about?” To which this person might respond: “This isn’t God, there’s no way.” Then someone might ask: “My husband doesn’t believe in God, my parents don’t believe in God, what’s going on here?” If Christ didn’t tell her what is going on there, she would think, “Wow, this isn’t God, He doesn’t know why my husband or my parents don’t believe!” Actually, Christ revealing these things is all part of normal humanity. Do you understand? What do we mean by normal humanity? If I don’t tell you, then you won’t know. Isn’t this normal humanity? If you drink cold water and your stomach hurts, if you eat an ice pop and your stomach hurts, isn’t this normal humanity? During the winter when you want to go outside, you look out your window and see the sun shining brightly, so then you wear less layers, but when you go outside you feel that it’s really cold outside, so you go back home to put on another layer. Isn’t this normal humanity? There are some things you’ve never come across, that you don’t understand, and so you make mistakes. Isn’t this normal humanity? These things are all a part of normal humanity. Displays of normal humanity are all normal. If man doesn’t have knowledge or experience of something, he cannot understand it thoroughly when he first comes into contact with it; sometimes he is stupid and ignorant, and sometimes he makes some mistakes. These are all necessary displays of normal humanity. Sometimes he makes faulty decisions. This is also normal. Sometimes he sees another person who he has never come into contact with, who he doesn’t understand, and as a result he is cheated by them. This too is normal. You ought to understand now what is meant by normal humanity. People allow themselves and others to have normal humanity, so why is it that they then have conceptions about Christ having normal humanity? What is that all about? Should Christ not have normal humanity? Must He be supernatural? Isn’t this the ignorance of man? You see that the Lord Jesus had several things that He prayed about to God the Father, there were many things that even He did not know. Doesn’t this illustrate that His humanity was normal? This is all a part of normal humanity. Now do you understand what is meant by saying someone has normal humanity? So, with normal humanity there comes some mistakes, some lessons and some biases. Are these considered sins? If somebody is cheated due to ignorance, is that considered a sin? You all say these are not. On the mainland I was fooled several times, and after this I knew: “This world is very deceptive, these people are all animals, they can do all kinds of evil things! I can no longer have dealings with these nonbelievers.” This was the lesson that I learned. Isn’t this normal humanity? If something happens to man, you don’t have any conceptions or judgments about it, but if these things happened with God, then you would have conceptions and judgments, and immediately in your imagination you would think that God incarnate was the same as ordinary people, you would think to yourself: “You are just as foolish and ignorant as us. Just like us, there are some things that You have no knowledge or experience of. Just like us, You get taken in and cheated by certain things. So are You really God?” You see, just like that you have given rise to these doubts! “Are You really God?” When the Lord Jesus saw the Pharisees coming after Him, wanting to capture Him, He immediately ran away. He retreated from the crowd. Did people have any conceptions about this? They should have had conceptions, right? Today you are able to have many conceptions about the practical God. If you had followed the Lord Jesus in the time when He was carrying out His work on earth, would you have had all of these conceptions about Him? You all say you would. Why is that? Because the normal humanity of God incarnate is always the same. Why is it that even the fleshly relatives of the Lord Jesus did not believe in Him? Because they considered Him an ordinary man. At best, His fleshly relatives considered Him a prophet. Isn’t this how it happened?
Why is it that people always have trouble believing in God incarnate? Where do they get stuck? First of all, they do not understand the truth of the incarnation, that’s for sure; second, they can never accept the normal humanity of Christ, nor do they understand the normal humanity of Christ. “Why does God clothe Himself in normal humanity? It would be much better if He clothed Himself in supernatural humanity.” What is meant by supernatural humanity? It means that if someone cheated Him, He would know at first glance. It means that He could see everything clearly. If you asked Him if it will rain tomorrow, He would respond immediately, and it would be guaranteed to be correct. It would be one hundred times more accurate than the weather forecast. If you asked Him about someone, you could guarantee that whatever He said about that person would be true. If He said it, then someone’s death would occur. Everything would be supernatural. Is that normal humanity? That’s turning into divinity, isn’t it? That is absolutely divinity. The flesh is just the outer shell. There is no normal humanity there. So, in this case, is it easy for God to carry out work? In that kind of flesh, He could express the truth just the same, but it would not be good for perfecting people and it would be impossible to expose man or condemn man, right? If God’s flesh were completely divine, if the flesh were just an outer shell, and the things He said and did were all divine, then what consequences would this produce? Even Satan the devil would believe, so would there be anyone who would dare resist? There would not. So then what would be the biggest flaw with this kind of flesh? Would it be beneficial to the work of God? Would it help God cleanse and save people? He would only be able to express the truth. It would be of no help in exposing man. It would be of no help in seizing evidence of man’s sins and in condemning man. That kind of flesh would lack a great function. But if He clothes Himself in normal humanity, all the conceptions and imagination of man, all of man’s rebellion and resistance can be exposed. Even the nonbelievers can be exposed. So, every time that God becomes flesh, those hypocritical Pharisees, those pastors and elders in the religious world, those religious leaders, they will begin to resist and condemn. Those nonbelievers and those who do not love the truth will all resist and condemn. All of these people will be exposed. God clothing Himself in the flesh of normal humanity is the best thing for revealing man. It is the best thing for seizing evidence of man’s sins in order to punish and chastise man. So, the significance of God clothing Himself in the flesh of normal humanity is very great and far-reaching! Herein lies the almightiness and wisdom of God. Now you understand, right? Some people will say: “God clothes Himself in the flesh of normal humanity, but man is unable to know this, man cannot easily accept His normal humanity. Under the cover of normal humanity, man cannot discover all that He divinely has and is, and really cannot come to know the true disposition of God.” Can what these people say stand? It cannot. Why not? Could it really be that under the cover of an outward appearance of normal humanity you cannot discover the essence of divinity? All that He divinely has and is, God’s righteous disposition, can these things really not be revealed through normal humanity? Can they really not? If they really couldn’t, then we ordinary, regular people would have no way to live out the truth. If we can live out the truth, if we can live out some of all that God has and is, then how could the normal humanity of Christ be unable to reveal the essence of divinity? How could it be unable to reveal all that divinity has and is? How could it be unable to reveal God’s disposition? Of course it can, and more so, right? If Christ could not reveal the essence of divinity and God’s disposition through His normal humanity, then in the future we would also be unable to live out the truth. So then, the display of normal humanity is not in conflict with nor is it contrary to living out the truth or revealing all that God has and is. If a man with normal humanity eats and drinks the poison of Satan, then he is able to live out Satan’s disposition. If he eats and drinks the truth of the word of God, then he will be able to live out the image of truth. This is the truth, right? So then, if man seeks to know God through the normal humanity of Christ, it is guaranteed that he will see all that divinity has and is, as well as the expression of God’s disposition. This is the truth. What is the most obvious revelation of Christ’s divinity? It is His righteous disposition. He is angry and hateful toward wicked men, and He does not pay attention to them. Whenever He sees them, He is especially furious. He would even eliminate them. What kind of people does Christ like the most? Honest men, kind-hearted men. When God sees a good person with good humanity, He is willing to get in contact with him. Sometimes He says someone is bad, with definitely bad humanity, you can see from the expressions in his eyes that his disposition is not good, and He would not like to speak to this kind of people. This is what is most obviously expressed in Christ’s humanity. Whoever He likes, whoever He hates, He reveals God’s disposition. In addition, Christ hates and is fed up with the world, with the king of devils and with the trends of the world, especially with the actions of the great red dragon. When Christ sees this, He is especially disgusted. He says that these people have no humanity, that they are truly deceitful toward others, and that all that they say are lies! All that which is revealed and lived out by Christ’s normal humanity is the truth, they are all positive things, and it is all the word of God.
Let us continue reading the word of God. “I very much appreciate those who harbor no suspicion about others and very much like those who readily accept the truth; to these two kinds of men I show great care, for in My eyes they are the honest.” What can we understand from these words? That God likes the honest. Here God mentions two expressions of the honest. First, they harbor no suspicion toward others. Second, they readily accept the truth. These are the two most practical, the most fundamental expressions. But what does it mean to harbor no suspicion about others? It means that whenever you are interacting with others you don’t keep on analyzing them and second-guessing them. But what is wrong with always second-guessing others? If you start second-guessing someone as soon as you start interacting with them: “What’s the deal with this person? I must protect myself against this person. It won’t be easy to defeat him.” People like this are always struggling with their thoughts about others. It’s really troublesome. What kind of people are those who are always struggling with others in their hearts? Are they wicked men? If someone is always wondering if he can defeat anyone he meets, then such a person is a wicked person. They really are wicked. Good people, honest people are always friendly when they see people, and they always hope that they can get help from others. They are able to establish friendly relationships with others, they are able to get along with others. This kind of life is very blessed, or at the very least, it is not lonely. Right? Being an honest person is what God likes. What can we see from these words “to these two kinds of men I show great care”? What is meant by this? God shows great care, that means God has mercy on these kinds of people; that means He protects, blesses and comforts them. This is what is meant by showing great care. Showing great care absolutely does not mean that He will pay no attention to you, and it certainly doesn’t mean that you will be set aside. Some people feel that: “God shows great care for me, God guides me down the path I walk on, God opens the way, God protects me, no matter what things I encounter, I will remain at peace in my heart and feel consoled.” Do these kinds of people have the blessing of God? If you are an honest person, if you readily accept the truth, if you do not second-guess others, and even more importantly, if you do not second-guess God, if all you feel for God is reverence and obedience, then you will certainly receive blessings from God! Some people say: “Then why is it that I never receive blessings from God? I do not feel that God treats me with kindness, or has mercy on me, or takes care of me, or guides me. I do not feel these things.” Ponder this over carefully. Are you suspicious of others? Are you willing to accept the truth? If you are not willing to accept the truth, if you are always suspicious of others, or even suspicious of God, then God will not take care of you, He will just set you aside, He will not pay attention to you. If you do many evil deeds then you will be cursed and punished. If you want to receive God’s care, God’s kind treatment, God’s mercy, and God’s blessings, then what should you do? How should you carry this out? You should be an honest person, you should accept the truth, you should pursue the truth, and then all will be solved, right? If you do not look within yourself for your faults, if you always blame God, that is not okay. Some people, when they see that God treats someone with considerable kindness, they wonder how it is that they don’t get to enjoy it for themselves, and they complain about how God is unfair. What kind of person is this? They complain about God being unfair, doesn’t this show that they have misgivings about God? If you are able to complain that shows that you already had misgivings. If you didn’t have misgivings how could you have complaints? What is the consequence of having misgivings? On the one hand, you will have complaints. On the other hand, you will be rebelling against and resisting God, or even denying and betraying God, right? If you have serious misgivings, then that is very troublesome, that is sinning and doing evil! Is it good or bad to have misgivings? You all say that is bad. What kind of disposition do those with misgivings have? On the one hand, they are crooked and cunning. On the other hand, they suspect others of being the kind of person that they are. Is there anything evil about tending to suspect others? There is. When you hear bad rumors, you have misgivings. You have misgivings about some of the things you see. You have misgivings about some of the things you hear. You have too many misgivings. Don’t make blind judgments without looking at facts. It’s easy to make mistakes, and you shouldn’t have misgivings.
How can you show that you “readily accept the truth?” Read the word of God, and when you see this is the truth, accept it immediately. Then ponder over it carefully until you can instill it in your heart, then all is set. You will obtain treasures. Throughout the entire world, who is the truth? Remember, throughout the entire world only Christ is the truth. Then how many Christs are there in the world now? There is only one. There is just Christ who expresses the truth. The One who expresses all the truths that will save mankind is Christ, He is God incarnate. He who cannot express the truth but pretends to be Christ is a false Christ. Christ is the truth. If you don’t believe in Christ, if you don’t accept Christ, then you will be destroyed, you will perish and be destroyed! Regardless of what kind of person you are, even if you are a president, a religious figure, or a religious official, if you do not receive Christ you will have only one outcome: Destruction! Death! When the great catastrophe befalls you, you will undoubtedly die. To accept Christ is to truly accept and obey the work of Christ. Those who do this will be able to live, they’ll be able to survive, they’ll be allowed by God to live. When the very end of the great catastrophe arrives, all who do not follow this path will be turned to ashes, they will be turned to ashes! What does this mean? That they will all die. Some people do not believe this, but regardless of whether you believe this or not, all of God’s words will come true. It is inevitable that they will come true. Some people wait until God’s words are accomplished before they accept them as the truth, and some people accept the word of God as truth as soon as they read it, “This is the truth, this certainly will come true, the truth never changes, it will never change!” This is true faith. Some people only half-believe the word of Christ after they read it, “Is this really the word of God? Yes.” But before long, the rumors of the great red dragon make them go back to not believing this. Then after pondering it over carefully they go back again to believing it. Then after that they get some conceptions and once again don’t believe. At one moment they believe, then the next moment they don’t. They can’t make up their mind, and ultimately they get confused, give up, and await death. Some people come across rumors after they accept the work of God in the last days and then they stop believing, they retreat. For them, it is easy to believe, and it is easy to not believe. The entrance to the house of God is wide open. If you stop believing then you can leave at any time, but just the same, if you stop believing after you started, then this is the same as betraying God. If you betray God then a mark will be left upon your body, a mark showing that you have betrayed God. If you listen to a lot of Satan’s words and fully believe them, and you judge and condemn God, then another mark will be left upon your body showing that you believe the rumors of Satan and that you betrayed God, judged God and offended God’s disposition. After this, once the great catastrophe comes and you see that Almighty God is real and so you want to believe again, God will say I don’t want you and He will cast you aside. So, if anyone accepts the work of the Almighty God for a period of time but then goes on to forsake Him only to then write another application letter to try to re-join the church, it will not be endorsed by God’s family. The first time you accept and write an application letter, you will be accepted by God’s family if you don’t have any major problems. But if you betray God and then come back, God’s family will not endorse you. You will be treated as an investigator. Is this a good way to go about things? Does this conform to the righteous disposition of God? It absolutely does. Some people ask if this is really how it is. Why don’t you go try and see how God’s family will treat you? Some people say that they don’t want to believe. Then we will open the door for you, and you can leave right now. We promise that nobody is keeping you. We do not show such love. The entrance to the house of God is wide open, whoever doesn’t believe can always leave. It is utter nonsense when Satan says that those who don’t believe will get their eyes gouged out and their noses cut off. So many people have walked away, so many people have been expelled, and none of them are missing a nose or their ears. The Communist Party will say all kinds of nonsense, they are capable of manufacturing all kinds of rumors. That’s because the Communist Party is the devil, and the devil has told lies from the very beginning. The devil lives to tell lies, it relies on lies to resist God, so therefore God will never save lying devils! God’s family will never stop getting rid of and expelling people. If you haven’t committed many evil deeds, but act like a nonbeliever, you will still be gotten rid of, and if you commit many evil deeds then you will be expelled. Those who are expelled can never return. If you repent during the catastrophe and God saves you, then that is a separate matter. You will never return to the church. It’s impossible! You ought to understand this! God’s family does not pull people in to fill up numbers. If you do not apply to the house of God you will not be admitted, God will not admit you. Is this good or bad? You all say it is good. But religion is not like this, religion will accept whoever comes, everyone is capable of believing. So long as you show up you will be okay. So long as you bring some money you will be okay. If you make contributions and donations to pastors then they will be happy, they will bless you, for they seek nothing but profit! Every day they bring the donation box to gatherings, and after they preach a sermon they will ask you to donate money. Do you see the house of God preaching donations and contributions? The house of God does not preach these things. It is the kind of church that possesses the truth and is with God and has the work of God and yet some people don’t believe it. This illustrates that they do not love the truth, and that they are nonbelievers, right? If they do not love the truth, then there’s nothing that can be done. They can’t believe it, and God’s family cannot force people—“Believe!”—They do not push it. This is not something to push. Whether or not you believe, that is a matter of the heart; that is a matter of the spirit. Those that God has predestined cannot be made to not believe. For those that God has not predestined, it is impossible to make them stay. We cannot force people. It goes without saying that this is true for Chinese people, and it is even truer for foreigners. You will not be approved if you do not write an application letter to the house of God, you will not be admitted. Regardless of who you are, everyone will receive equal treatment. So what kind of people will stand out as honorable in the house of God? Those who pursue the truth, and those who readily accept the truth, they will stand out among people as the honorable ones. Everyone will honor them, everyone will admire them, everyone will approve of them. Anyone who does not love the truth is not okay. Even if you come as an Israelite, no one will pay attention to you. The house of God is a fair and righteous kingdom, or, to use the language of nonbelievers, it is a fair society with fair competition.
Let’s continue fellowshiping the word of God: “If you are very cunning, then you will have a guarded heart and thoughts of suspicion regarding all matters and all men. For this reason, your faith in Me is built upon a foundation of suspicion.” If someone always harbors suspicions and guards against people and things, then they will surely also guard against and harbor suspicions about God, because this is part of their disposition. If someone has this kind of disposition will it be troublesome for them to believe in God? These kinds of people have a very hard time believing in God. They can harbor suspicions about everyone, and if their suspicions extend to God then they will certainly suffer losses. If you always harbor suspicions about God will you be able to follow Him? Whenever you harbor suspicions in your heart you will not be able to obey God, you will distance yourself from God, and if you continue to have deeper suspicions you may even deny God or judge God. If you deny or judge God then you have the evil heart of disbelief. If you keep harboring suspicions, this will start giving direct rise to judgments. Then you will start to rebel and resist, becoming an enemy of God. This will offend God’s disposition. So, serious suspicions can easily offend God’s disposition, making it easy for you to be eliminated by God! Suspicion is the Achilles’ heel of man. Isn’t that so? God says: “Such manner of faith is one I shall never acknowledge.” Remember this: If you believe in God until the end, but never solve the problem of your suspicion about God or guarding against God, if you keep harboring suspicions in your heart about God, if you keep putting up a wall against God, then what will be the consequence? These kinds of people wasted their faith. God cannot acknowledge them; they have wasted their faith! So then, if this problem is not solved, will you be able to gain God through your faith in Him? Will you be able to receive God’s promise? You will be able to receive nothing. The reason I ask these questions in this way is to remind you of the fact that you must understand these things clearly. It would be very troublesome if you did not solve these problems. Don’t harbor suspicions about God. Don’t suspect anything. For example, if someone who believes in God comes to your house, and before they leave they walk away with something of yours, whether it’s one of your books or some sort of tool that you use, if they use it and then, without thinking about it, put it in their pocket and leave, how will you look at this? Will you suspect them: “Could this person have stolen my stuff? Are they a person who steals?” Wouldn’t this be harboring suspicions? “Is there something wrong with this person’s character? Is this person a thief?” Aren’t these suspicions you are harboring? After this you will then guard against this person, “If you come again I will not give you anything, I’ll have to watch you every day, I’ll need to watch you with six eyes.” Isn’t this guarding against them? If you were to treat God in the same way, that would be troublesome. This would be suspecting and guarding, and you’d be finished and in a lot of trouble. If God took something of yours, if God asked for something of yours, could you harbor suspicions about God? If God told you something of yours was nice, you’d tell yourself, “Oh, God says it is good, He is asking this thing from me. Quickly, quickly, I’ll give it to Him. I should devote this to God.” Would you think in this way? If God said: “This thing in your house is really good, this thing is really delicious.” And you responded, “Hurry, hurry, cook it for God to eat.” Is this harboring suspicions? If God said: “Give this to me.” And you responded, “Oh, how could God request other people’s stuff? God is after some cheap profit!” Isn’t this harboring suspicions? If God asks for something of yours would you harbor suspicions about God or judge God? There are some of you who say you wouldn’t. Why wouldn’t you? Tell me what you are basing this on. If you can’t tell me what you’re basing this on, then you would be able to. It is useless if you say you wouldn’t. Why wouldn’t you? “I do not suspect that the essence of God is beautiful and good, God does not have any essence of a thief, and He certainly is not a bad person. God has the most humanity, He has normal humanity. God is the truth. No matter what God does, it is always a positive thing. Even if it does not conform to man’s conceptions, He is testing man, He is exposing man.” Is this a good way of understanding things? You all say it is. God will not steal. God does not seek to gain small advantages over man. God is the Creator. He lacks nothing, so could He really want something of yours? Perhaps God had a momentary lapse of memory and put something of yours in His pocket. Even then you would not harbor suspicions about God. To which Satan would say: “How could you harbor no suspicions? You ought to suspect Him.” “I will not suspect Him, God is the best, He is one hundred times better than me. God is the truth, God has the most humanity. You want me to suspect God, you devil, don’t you dare!” If this is your basis, then that’s okay, then you will be able to act without harboring suspicions about God. This you ought to understand.
Something happened to Abraham. He was bestowed a son by God who he raised until he was a teenager, and then God asked Abraham to offer him as a sacrifice. “How could God do this? He is going back on His word! Even friends cannot treat each other this way and cannot do things in this way! Clearly You gave him to me, and now You want him back! Doesn’t this mean that You are not trustworthy?” If you’re an ordinary man, if you are a man who harbors suspicions, this is how you would think, isn’t it? Would you be able to see through His work in previous ages that sometimes when God does things that do not conform to people’s conceptions, He is actually trying people and testing people? Do you have this knowledge? There’s no way that God doesn’t know what He is doing, this certainly must contain God’s gracious will! Are people able to accept it? There are some people who up to now have been unable to accept it. There are some people who start thinking bad thoughts whenever they discover that God has done something that does not conform to man’s conceptions. They start harboring suspicions and coming to negative conclusions. Isn’t this a satanic disposition? But what did Abraham do about this? When Abraham heard this, he thought to himself, “God wants me to offer Him my son, there’s no way that God could go back on His word, God is trustworthy, God is righteous! This must certainly contain God’s gracious will. Perhaps God is testing me, I must obey Him, I must give up what I love and offer it to Him!” Think about Abraham, he is pure of mind, he did not start thinking bad thoughts about God. He thought to himself: “This contains God’s gracious will, I must obey God! I am a creature created by Him. In the presence of God I am nothing but dust. No matter what God does, I must obey it!” Abraham didn’t harbor any suspicion about God, did he? So, God cared for and blessed him. God did test him, but in the end He conferred upon him major blessings. Do you think God could test someone in this way if they always harbored suspicions about Him? That kind of person would not be worthy of receiving blessings. You’re free to suspect, but by the time you are finished with your suspicions God will not pay attention to you. Whenever catastrophe strikes, God will not save you. Honest people do not harbor suspicions about God, they do not delineate Him, they do not suspect Him of anything. They readily accept the truth. But who is without weaknesses? Everyone’s stature is limited, and everyone’s understanding of the truth and their knowledge of God is limited, but these people are protected by God, they are treated favorably by God, they receive blessings from God. If someone likes to doubt, judge, and delineate others, could he also suspect and delineate God? Of course he could. Why is that? Because it’s in this person’s nature. He wouldn’t treat God as an exception, right?
Here God also says: “Without true faith, then your love is far from true love.” Here God explains again the relationship between love and faith. This is the truth! What is true love based on? It is established on true faith. True faith is very crucial. Without true faith, then everything is empty talk, everything we say is invalid. True faith is very important! But what do we mean by true faith? The truth is contained within these words: “Without true faith, then your love is far from true love.” Some people always say: “How could I not love God? How could I not have any love for God?” What is this all about? According to these words spoken by God, has this question been answered? For anyone who has had faith for a long time, who has had faith for many years but who does not have love for God, what is the main cause of this? Their faith in God surely is not true, they have not achieved God’s demands, isn’t that so? For people who believed in God in the Age of Grace, why could they not accept Almighty God, Christ of the last days? Because they did not have knowledge of Christ, or of God, they did not have any bit of knowledge of God, so when God changed His name and said some new things, they got confused, and they did not acknowledge it. Doesn’t this mean that they did not possess the truth? People without the truth cannot hear God’s voice. But people who understand some of the truth hear Him, and they say, “Oh! Everything that Almighty God speaks is the truth! The words that the Lord Jesus speaks have authority, they are all the truth, and the words that are spoken by Almighty God have even more authority, they are all the truth. What’s more, Almighty God has spoken so many words that have revealed the mysteries of God’s management. He has revealed a hundred, a thousand times more mysteries than the Lord Jesus. These seem to be the words and work of the same Spirit, the same God.” Being able to have these thoughts and knowledge, surely this person had some previous knowledge of God, right? They have some knowledge of God and their faith in God is true. They are able to cast away everything else and follow God. If they had a deep understanding of God then they would be willing to risk their own life for God, isn’t that so? There are some people who were arrested by the great red dragon and were tortured brutally to the point of paralysis, to where they couldn’t even stand up. Without being able to stand up they pondered their situation: “Is Almighty God the true God or a false god? If He is the true God then even if I must die for Him, it would be my pleasure to do so. But if by any chance He is not the true God and I die, then wouldn’t I have wasted my life?” What is the most important thing at this point? Faith! This is when a person’s faith is most important. If you did not have true faith in God would you be able to suffer through the pains of torture? Even if your bones could get stronger, they cannot become as strong as steel. How horrible would it be to be continuously prodded by a stun baton? Those stun batons have such a high voltage, when it whacks against the body—“Pow!”—and whoever is struck will collapse from the blow. “Pow!” Their flesh will start to burn. Nobody could endure this. So then, what kind of faith in God, what kind of love for God would you have to have in order to be able to put up with this kind of suffering? This is the time that reveals who a person is. The word of God says: “Without true faith, then your love is far from true love.” When your faith reaches a certain level you will be able to find love for God in your heart. When your love for God reaches a certain level you will be able to risk your life for God and be loyal to God. You see that when a person loves someone else, they are willing to risk their life for them. So if a person loves God then they ought to be even more willing to risk their life for God, right? Whenever they face their death how should they pray? “Dear God, I do not mind dying for You, this is Your grace, this is Your exaltation. Dear God, You receive my spirit, so I will live for You and I will die for You!” If someone prays in this way do they have true faith? This is true faith. So then, what kind of the faith is the faith of most people within the religious community? Their faith is the kind that only acknowledges God, they only acknowledge that there is a God, and that the Lord Jesus is most likely true. This is the kind of acknowledgment that they give. They have had faith in the Lord Jesus for many years without retreating, but they never went through any major trials. If they go through a major trial, they retreat nonetheless, because their faith was not true. All they did was make an acknowledgment, they did not have faith through knowledge. If you truly acknowledge God and know God, that will make your faith greater. That is true faith. Before someone comes to have knowledge of God, can their faith receive the approval of God? It cannot. Why can they not receive the approval of God? Because such faith of theirs is not up to snuff. Their faith does not mean they have knowledge of God, it is only a faith that acknowledges God. For example, nowadays there are a lot of people who believe in Almighty God without having knowledge of Him. So, their faith in Almighty God is just a kind of acknowledgment. But what is being acknowledged? “Almighty God is God incarnate, this I am certain of. I do not doubt this. And the words expressed by Almighty God are the truth, this is the voice of God. I do not doubt this.” With the faith of these two acknowledgements, they can believe until the end and follow until the end. If they do not make any progress until the end, will this kind of faith receive the approval of God? It cannot receive the approval of God. Why is that? Because they have no knowledge of God. If they don’t have knowledge of God, then what kind of problem will they definitely have with their faith? If you acknowledge that God has become flesh, and that all the words expressed by God are the voice of God and are the truth, will you suspect God? Will you harbor suspicions about God? Will you come to delineate God? Will you form conceptions and misunderstandings about God? These practical problems all still exist. They have not been solved at all. Isn’t that the issue?
Are there people who say, “I’ve had some notions since I first started believing in God. Up to the present, five or six, or seven or eight years have passed, but I still haven’t solved them”? Does this situation exist? No matter how many years any person has believed in God, if his many notions about God have not been solved, does he have knowledge of the practical God? He doesn’t have knowledge. Then when he is following God, is it possible that his notions, misconceptions, delineations, and judgements about God exist? If these problems exist, will he be able to obey God in doing his duty? Will he be able to be loyal to God? Will he be able to love God? Will he be able to truly worship God? He certainly will not. Why will he not be able to? It is simply because these problems have not been solved, and these illnesses all press on him inside and persist in his heart. Because these problems exist, he often suspects God and often has notions about God, so he is often passive and weak, complains, and even has a heart that wants to retreat. Looking at how other people have enthusiasm when they believe in God, he is unable to raise his own enthusiasm; seeing that other people are able to be faithful, he is still unable to be so himself; seeing other people loving God, he is unable to produce love of his own, and this is because he holds these things inside. If people have these illnesses inside themselves, and if these notions, imaginations, judgments, and conjectures are inside them, can they follow God until the end? If he is really faced with some trials and tribulations, will he be able to keep from collapsing? Of course it would be difficult to remain standing. When it’s time to suffer hardships and pay the price, he will be paralyzed. At present there are many people who keep these kinds of notions inside them, and if one day they are captured by the great red dragon, do you think they could become Judas? They would immediately become Judas, because inside they have notions about God, are in doubt, rely on conjectures, and jump to conclusions. As soon as they are captured by the great red dragon it won’t take even two days—after just one day of being whipped and tortured they will renounce God. They won’t be able to make it through one day of torture. There are some people who are immediately paralyzed as soon as they enter the police station. They confess immediately, saying, “I don’t believe anymore! I don’t believe anymore! I’ll do whatever you want me to!” After just one day, they confess. Why do they confess? Why are they broken so quickly? It’s because they have too many notions inside, and they have too many questions they haven’t resolved. So when they are faced with a trial, they are unable to stand firm and collapse right away. Is this not a fact?
Do you think that it’s necessary to solve these notions quickly? Everyone says that it is necessary. So, who among you still has these notions, judgments, and conjectures tucked away and hidden inside your heart which aren’t laid bare and which are covered up very tightly? Who among you hasn’t sought the truth to solve them? Are those smart people? If someone asks you, “Do you still have notions about God?”, you say, “I don’t. I’ve had faith for several years, and whoever it might be who has notions, I do not.” Behind their back you say to yourself, “I do have a lot of notions.” Aren’t there these kinds of people? Are you able to solve some notions from what I’ve communicated? Whoever is able to resolve his notions, raise your hand. There are a lot of people raising their hands. Actually, in speaking as much as I am, I’m targeting your notions. Most of the notions you have, I too have had before, and these are all easy to solve—as soon as you set to work on them, they will be gone. What am I afraid of? I’m afraid that you don’t accept the truth. In that case, there will be nothing I can do. If I speak extremely clearly and you don’t accept or acknowledge it, then I have no way to deal with people like this. Hurry up and resolve your notions now. Resolve your notions and go forth into battle with your burdens discarded, and see how nice it is to enjoy God liberated and free! Carrying such a heavy burden, and bearing up so many fetters, don’t you feel heavily weighed down? Doesn’t it feel painful? Don’t you feel like you’re being restrained? Others have followed God for three or five years, their entire faces radiant with happiness and spirit liberated, happy and joyful, but you have had faith for eight or ten years, and your whole face is lined with worries, pain, and anxiety. Is this what it’s like to have obtained the truth? Isn’t this dishonoring God? You see that you can’t discern any sunshine or any smile on the faces of some people, as if they have just finished crying, and their whole faces are full of anxiety. Do people like these have true faith in God? They do not. What is true faith? Being able to love God, to obey God no matter how great the hardships suffered may be, being unafraid of paying the price and thereby being able to satisfy God—that is the highest principle. People like this have gained spiritual liberation. You can see that a person has love of God so his face is filled with happiness and light. As soon as people look at him, their anxiety vanishes, and only such a person is one who has gained spiritual liberation. How does such a person gain spiritual liberation? There is just one condition, which is obtaining the truth. The truth makes people liberated and free, whereas notions bind people and cause them suffering. Isn’t this the case? The more notions you have, the heavier your chains will be, but the truth makes people liberated and free. So, if you don’t seek the truth, then your notions, conclusions, conjectures, and misunderstandings about God will never disappear on their own. Some people are unwilling to open themselves up, and say, “If I speak openly about my notions, misunderstandings, and conjectures about God, won’t other people laugh at me? Wouldn’t it be really embarrassing? Let’s just say we are people who love God; could we still have notions about God? We are people whose caliber is good, who understand the truth, and who have humanity, so we couldn’t have any notions about God.” What kind of words are they? Do they have sense? Talking like this is contradicting oneself, and this person even says he has humanity. By having humanity you won’t have any notions about God? Since you don’t have the truth, you will have notions, and you will come up with notions. Even if your humanity is good, it will be useless. If you don’t seek the truth, will you be able to attain knowledge of God? Before having knowledge of God, everyone is so full of notions and imaginations about God and they all have conjectures. They all make conjectures, suspicions, and are on their guard to various degrees. Isn’t this the real situation? Do you think your kind of talk can deceive people? Without seeking the truth, can one know God on earth? Without resolving the notions and imaginations that people have, or their conjectures and misunderstandings of God, will they be able to attain knowledge of God on earth? Everyone says they won’t. Look at what God says in this piece of word. You can see that, all the way from the beginning to the very end, you can’t find any words about how to seek to know God on earth. So, how to know God on earth? Are these details included? They aren’t. What kind of problem do you think this is? According to people’s notions and imaginations, it shouldn’t be like this; this piece of God’s word should point out how people know God on earth, and at least should declare the path to do so. God does not say it here. Why is this, do you know? Where is the focus of this piece of God’s word, do you know? It is on resolving people’s notions and misunderstandings. God puts all people’s problems on display, and when you have resolved these problems through seeking the truth, you will naturally attain knowledge of God on earth. When I began to read this piece of God’s word, I said, “Let me try to find out how to know God on earth. I must help brothers and sisters to find the way.” Once I found that it wasn’t in there. I thought, “How did God not speak about this?” When I pondered this, I thought, “Oh! The meaning is here. This piece of God’s word is specifically for exposing people’s corruption, notions, imaginations, conclusions, and misunderstandings. This is the key part that is to be fellowshiped!” Reading this piece of God’s word, not fellowshiping about it like this will not work. If you don’t speak about these problems thoroughly, it will be just the same as not having fellowshiped about this piece of God’s word. Do you understand? Tell me, is there anything that can’t be resolved among all the kinds of notions people have about God? There are no notions that can’t be resolved, and all the truths expressed by Almighty God can resolve all the problems and difficulties of corrupt humanity! Are these words excessive? Everyone thinks they aren’t excessive. I have said them for many years, and the more I say them the more energetic I am, the more I say them the more confidence I have, and I feel that they are not excessive.
After a person has experienced God’s work for several years, he will certainly have some knowledge of the incarnate God. If he has no knowledge of God at all, then this person has not accepted the truth in the slightest. People who are able to accept the truth are all able to have some knowledge. So what is the connection between attaining knowledge of God and accepting the truth? There’s a mystery in this, isn’t there? You see that after people finish reading the word of God, each person has his own feeling, and some people grasp it, saying, “Oh! This word is the truth; the truth is in these words. There are some truths that are said straightforwardly and which get right to the point, hitting the nail right on the head; there are some truths which are hidden within words, and God reveals this thing and this fact, and the truth is in this.” So, people who are serious about the word of God ponder the truth, and are diligent toward the truth. In this way, without realizing it, they find where the truth exists in the word of God, and are all able to unearth some gold. You could call this opening up a goldmine, isn’t that right? Being able to accept the truth and emphasizing seeking the truth are crucial. Some people read the word of God and do not seek the truth. Is there truth in why God wants to speak in this way, why God wants to make this problem known, and why God uses this tone of speaking and uses these terms to speak about this matter? There is a truth in this. The tone of some words represents God’s disposition, and there are some words which directly express facts and truths, allowing people to understand them easily. God does and says things very practically, and in this is God’s wisdom and God’s goodwill. Once you seek the truth in God’s word, you will be able to sense why God wanted to say this piece of word, and what results God intended with each sentence. When these things are all made clear, what is it that people obtain? Isn’t it knowledge of God? In one piece of God’s word you can have some knowledge of God, and attain some result of knowing God. So in two or three pieces of God’s word, in each piece of God’s word you have some knowledge, and you all have some rewards, so that your knowledge of God will be more abundant. Isn’t this the case? When you have some real knowledge of God, and you fellowship about it to brothers and sisters and bear witness to God, will you still have difficulties? There won’t be any more difficulties, and as soon as you open your mouth you will be able to fellowship and bear witness to God. Once you open your mouth you will provide benefits to people. The moment you speak you will be able to resolve problems for people, and will be able to see things clearly. How do you get to this point? You get there through accepting the truth, and seeking the truth in everything. Some people ask, “Do you get to this point by the work of the Holy Spirit?” If you don’t seek the truth and do not accept the truth, then where could the Holy Spirit be working upon you?
How do you feel when I fellowship about this to you today? Are you able to derive some benefits listening to what I fellowship? Everyone says they can derive some benefits. There are people who say, “I have listened for such a long time in gatherings, and every time I have gained something. I always derive some benefits, but how come my disposition has not yet changed? Why do I still not know God? Why can’t I fellowship about the truth?” Is it easy to give an explanation for these questions? Where is the problem located? Who can explain this clearly? There are many people who are very eager to listen to sermons, but when something happens to them they don’t put the truth into practice. In this way, will they be able to obtain the truth? They won’t. When they hear sermons, they are just satisfied to merely hear them. They say in their hearts, “Yes, right, very good, these words are so great, I can be edified from listening to them.” But when something happens to them, they don’t put the truth into practice, so this nature of theirs doesn’t change. If you don’t put the truth into practice, no matter how much you listen to sermons, in the end you still won’t have the truth. The Holy Spirit does not work, isn’t that right? So how can you obtain the truth? It is by putting the truth into practice immediately after understanding it. Today, after you are done listening, you go home, say, “I have made mistakes in the past by doing such and such, so I do it like this today; what I did in the past was disobedient to God, but today I’ll obey God; in the past, I always used to make conjectures and come to conclusions about God, but now I obey. I obey unconditionally, and I won’t make conjectures anymore. I will say ‘no’ to Satan.” Putting it into practice this way, you can see whether you will have the work of the Holy Spirit in you and whether God will be with you. Try putting it into practice and see. Once you try, you’ll say, “Oh! It’s so good to put it into practice! I enjoy this so much in my heart! I am full of peace and free of anxiety, and I’ve never felt this kind of enjoyment before. Practicing the truth really is true happiness and true peace!”
If you are always suspecting and making conjectures about God on the basis of notions and imaginations, even though you express belief in your speech, you will always be distant from God in your heart. In your heart, you will always have a kind of uneasy feeling, an inauspicious omen, as if there were always a calamity about to befall you. What is the problem here? You are too far away from God. Isn’t that the case? You see that when people are far away from their families, when they are living far away in a foreign country, what kind of feelings do they have? They feel lonely and isolated, and there is always some ominous and uneasy feeling, isn’t that right? If they were at home they would feel safe and warm with all their relatives, and it would be like their own pure land, a different feeling. So the feeling of putting the truth into practice is like returning to the presence of God, like returning to the family of God, and being together with God! The more you put the truth into practice, the more you will be at peace in your heart and the more your heart will be happy and joyful. The more you put the truth into practice the more you will feel that God is lovable, and it befits God to make people be obedient like this, it befits God to receive people’s love. So the more you put the truth into practice, to put it in the language of man, the more intimate man’s relationship to God will become, and the closer you will be to God’s heart. If you only listen to sermons and go to gatherings, but don’t put the truth into practice, your heart is still very distant from God. Some people say, “I believe.” Believing is fine, but your heart is still distant from God, which is a practical problem. The hearts of everyone who doesn’t put the truth into practice are very far from God! Are you able to accept what I am saying? If you don’t believe, then experience it, and feel it. The more you put the truth into practice the more your heart will truly have peace and joy! Is the connection really so great between peace and joy and putting the truth into practice? I can’t explain it clearly. Practice the truth and you will know. Do you know the feeling that people have who do not put the truth into practice? It is as if they are unsure in their hearts, saying, “Do I believe in God or not? Will God praise me or not? Will I be able to enter the kingdom in the future? Will I be able to survive?” In their hearts they are always unsure, and this is always a question mark. When you have practiced the truth, in your heart you will be able to confirm: Now I am a person who truly believes in God, now I obey God, now I live in the presence of God, now I truly obey God’s work, and I have begun to put the truth into practice. Now I truly abide by God’s way, and now I love and obey God practically. Look, once you put the truth into practice, this succession of feelings will appear. How steady is this! Only when you put the truth into practice will you have true peace, and this is the absolute truth. So experience it like this.
Is it important to practice the truth? (Everyone thinks it is important.) Some people have asked, “How to practice the truth? What does it mean to put the truth into practice?” Do you know? This has all been previously fellowshiped about. How many manifestations are there for putting the truth into practice? First, to seek the truth in all things. Before putting the truth into practice you must first seek the truth. First pray to God, and be quiet in the presence of God. You must eat and drink the word of God, ponder the word of God, and open your heart to God. This itself is putting the truth into practice. Second, every day, no matter what happens to you, you must act in accordance with what God requires. Third, to obey the orchestrations and arrangements of God. No matter how God has arranged things, who He has allocated to cooperate with you, whatever He has arranged to happen to you and which people you encounter, you must absolutely obey Him and not complain about God. Whether things are good or bad, don’t complain about God. Learn from the bad things that happen and seek the truth in the good things that happen to you. Don’t let yourself be carried away. Fourth, whomever you cooperate with, whoever it is who fellowships in accordance with the truth, you should obey and accept it. Don’t be stubborn or full of yourself. Fifth, at times when you yourself are revealed as corrupt—such as when you live egotistically and follow your own opinions—you must hurry and pray to God, seek to forsake it, and use the word of God to rein yourself in. Sixth, having been exposed as corrupted, obey God in pruning you and dealing with you. No matter which brother or sister deals with you, even if it’s just a three year old child criticizing you, you must accept and obey it. Aren’t these manifestations of putting the truth into practice? Additionally, no matter what situation you are in, you must perform as much of your duty as you are able to. Duty is a form of rationality that should be part of humanity and is an obligation people should carry out completely. If the house of God has some work that happens to require you, or if the house of God has any difficulties and it so happens that other people aren’t able to solve them but you are able to, you will try your very best to help. If there is something that needs to be done by you, then you’ll do it. Isn’t this practicing the truth? Every day, we must practice obeying and worshiping God. No matter what happens to us, we must see God’s deed from within those occurrences, feel God’s intention, and have true worship and true praise of God. We must know how to give thanks. All this is putting the truth into practice. Who are the people who put the truth into practice with utter thoroughness? People who have hearts that revere God put the truth into practice more. Once they have a heart that reveres God, they are able to put the truth into practice in all things and are able to seek the truth in everything. Without a heart that reveres God, one will only practice in a way that fits with his desire, notions, and interests, and he won’t follow whatever doesn’t fit with his notions, desire, and interests. We see that in putting the truth into practice people are often selective. They can’t put into practice things that involve suffering or paying a price, but just practice whatever is light and easy and makes them happy. If people have hearts that revere God, they will practice the truth, even if they need to climb a mountain of knives or descend into a sea of fire. Look, they don’t fear suffering hardship, they don’t fear paying the price, and only these people are those whom God wants to make complete. What pleasure does it give people once they are done carrying out the truth? Peace and happiness come to them. You see that some people’s faces are lined with concerns every day, and what is the main reason for that? It’s that they haven’t put the truth into practice, not living in the presence of God but living merely in the fleshly world. With their hearts and minds preoccupied by all that worldly stuff, will their faces be pleasant to look at? No, they’ll look completely dejected and depressed, without any liberation of freedom. What do you have to put into practice to truly be living in the presence of God? To practice the truth. Every day, practice every aspect of the truth that you ought to practice. At a certain point, it will be very natural when you are practicing the truth, and you will be able to put the truth into practice in all matters. The more you practice the truth the more clear you will be about the truth; the more you practice the truth the more plentiful and abundant your understanding of the truth will be; the more you practice the truth, the more time you will spend living in the presence of God, and the more you will be able to obtain God’s praise. If you practice the truth too little, then you are not a person who is living in God’s presence. If you are not a person who lives in the presence of God, then your faith in God is not true; your faith in God may all be false. If you do not love the truth, then it would be proper and appropriate to call you an unbeliever, and it wouldn’t be unfair at all! So, at present, the first thing to do is to hurry and resolve your notions and imaginings, and your suspicions, judgments, and misunderstandings about God. The more thoroughly you resolve these the better it will be, and this way you will attain liberation and freedom, isn’t that right? Your heart will not be burdened, you will feel lightness in your whole body, and afterward you will be able to practice the truth, and in this you will have attained living in the presence of God. The more time you live in the presence of God every day, and the more time you accept God’s observation, won’t you be more purified and have less that is revealed as corrupt? In the past, people said, “How on earth am I supposed to live? How should I believe in God? How should I spend my time every day? What is it to live in the presence of God? What is truly obeying God’s work?” Are you now clear as to these things that were not previously understood? You are all clear, and all have ways to practice. When there is a way to practice, is that a substitute for your living out the reality of the truth? No, it isn’t. When there is a way to practice, you must follow it up, taking the steps with your feet, and you must put it into practice. If you just see the way in your mind, but don’t ever take a step, then it is useless, and this will bear no results. Isn’t that right? As the saying goes, “A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.” There are people who say, “It’ll be great when our wishes come true. If things could be accomplished without the need to put our thoughts into practice and step forward, wouldn’t that be great?” That is not realistic, and you must hurry and practice what you understand in your mind! Some people are content to say, “Since I understand, I’ve obtained it.” But understanding is not the same as obtaining; you must practice it first in order to obtain it. Isn’t that right?
If you are able to practice the truth, you have entered onto the right track of faith in God. The more you are able to practice the truth, the more realities of truth you will have. When a person has some realities of truth, would you say that this kind of person is able to bear witness to God? Yes, they are able to bear witness to God. When they go around a church and visit the brothers and sisters there, there will be things to say and there will be work to do—there is a lot of work to be done. Some people say, “How is it that when I attend meetings and fellowship about the truth, I haven’t ever been able to fellowship about reality? I exhaust what there is to say about letters and doctrines, so what is going on here? What is the root cause of this?” Have you now found the root cause? What is the root cause? It’s that you aren’t a person who practices the truth. So when you attend meetings and communicate the truth, you can’t fellowship about reality, and in your sermons there is no reality. If you are a person who practices the truth, whatever you say would be reality, and people would want to listen to whatever you say. If you don’t practice the truth, then whatever you say will be useless and there won’t be anyone to listen to you even if you say it well. If you want to attain knowledge of God on earth, you must practice the truth. When you hear God’s word, go and put it into practice. This was said by the Lord Jesus, so you must go carry it out! When you have listened to a sermon and understood the truth, you must hurry to put it into practice. Do not just be satisfied with understanding, as mere understanding is useless. Understanding serves for practice, and works for practice. If you don’t put your understanding to practice, then next time you won’t be able to understand and God will not enlighten you. The more you practice, the more clearly you will be able to comprehend the matter of practicing the truth. You’ll think, “I can grasp what it is to practice the truth, and I know how to practice the truth.” Once you have come to know how to practice the truth, do you think you will know how to obey God? You will know. There is a direct relationship between practicing the truth and obeying God, and practicing the truth itself is obeying God. Do people who are able to practice the truth know how to love God? Practicing the truth itself is an expression of loving God. It is taking God’s will into consideration, and it is obeying God, so there are a lot of truths that have an intertwined relationship. If you are able to put the truth into practice, are you a person who follows the way of God? There is a direct relationship, and you are following the way of God. When you are able to practice the truth, aren’t you a person who follows God’s will? If you practice the truth a lot, then you are someone who obeys the will of God, and you are qualified to enter the kingdom of heaven. So, the key to reaching God’s approval and being qualified to inherit God’s promise is in practicing the truth. If you don’t practice the truth, then everything is in vain; even your belief in God is in vain. By practicing the truth, everything will become real. This is absolutely true.
There are some people who ask, “How can one really know God on earth?” Having understood God’s word, practice it immediately. If you retain any notions, imaginings, or judgments about God, hurry and resolve them. After you have resolved them, and you have no more notions, and you have understood the truth of the incarnation and known the reality of God then you will have no difficulties in obeying God, nor in loving God. Isn’t this the case? Look, after so many years of experience, you will have a bit of knowledge of the incarnation. What kind of knowledge? In speaking like this, my understanding is not necessarily pure. You can see that God incarnate is so ordinary and normal in humanity, is quite average in appearance, and isn’t especially tall. Can God’s goodwill be in this? Is there God’s wisdom in this? I feel more and more that all the manifestations God’s incarnate flesh possesses, no matter whether or not they fit with people’s notions, serve for God to cleanse, save, and perfect people, and are all planned out with meticulous care by God. The flesh that God designs with meticulous detail demonstrates God’s abundant wisdom. Furthermore, it makes those unbelievers and people who have no love for the truth have notions, so that they convict Him. In the end, they will be revealed and destroyed. God’s incarnation is useful in revealing people for who they are, and is even more useful for perfecting people. So is this flesh designed with meticulous detail by God? I don’t know if it is correct to accept it as such. Do you feel this way as well? (Everyone says they do.) What is designed in meticulous detail by God is on the one hand most effective in cleansing and perfecting people, and on the other hand is most useful in revealing and punishing people. All that the incarnation expresses is mysterious, and everything within it carries God’s wisdom. When I speak like this, there are some people who are a bit surprised. “Is it really like this?”, they ask. It absolutely is, and this is my experience. There may be some things that I don’t express suitably, but you should be able to understand the meaning, right? There is a meaning behind it, and all is a mystery. There are many blind people who always have some notions about the incarnate flesh, and that is stupid! When you have practiced the truth a lot, you will feel that all the expressions of God’s incarnate flesh demonstrate God’s goodwill, God’s wisdom, and God’s disposition. You can say that all aspects and everything about the incarnation are all meticulously planned out by God.
Questions & Answers
Question (1): The word of God says, “However, God’s essence is ideology-free and thought-free. It does not incorporate human ideas and even lacks what humans normally have.” (“The Essential Difference Between the Incarnate God and People Used by God” in The Word Appears in the Flesh) We are not very clear about the truth that “it lacks what humans normally have” and the truth that the incarnate God has normal humanity. Please, brother, fellowship about this.
Answer: The word of God says, “However, God’s essence is ideology-free and thought-free. It does not incorporate human ideas and even lacks what humans normally have.” Here, the meaning of “lacks what humans normally have” does not indicate a lack of normal humanity, but rather a lack of the manifestation of bearing witness to God and enunciation of the truth of God’s word, which normal humanity has. God’s essence lacks that aspect of thinking. In fact, Christ directly accepts the governance of God’s Spirit to express the word of God. If God included normal thinking to express the word of God, wouldn’t that be mixing something else with it? Are there things that are within normal humanity in God’s essence as is spoken of here? No, there aren’t. So, when God expresses the truth, He doesn’t mix in thoughts from normal humanity, but rather He directly accepts the governance of God’s Spirit in what He expresses. Do you understand? Here, where it says that He “lacks what humans normally have,” it refers to the normal thinking. When we say that Christ has both divinity and humanity, is there humanity within His divinity? Those are two very different things. Divinity is divinity and humanity is humanity. At what time does Christ’s humanity come to be? Only when God becomes incarnate does He clothe Himself in it. God’s Spirit does not originally have humanity; He is God, and has only divinity. So when God expresses the truth, do you think that His words include those of normal thinking of humanity, and that those words are created through a process of thinking? There aren’t any such words, as what is expressed comes out directly as the word of God. It is much like when a person is writing a script or an article, or when they are speaking, how there is always a way of thinking present. Do you think that when I speak it demonstrates a normal thinking? A person speaks through thinking and by means of a thought process, and the tendency of their speech is to move in the direction of their train of thought, right? You can’t find that in the word of God, as when He speaks it isn’t a result of thought processes. Isn’t this the case? Here there is yet another question. We humans have a logical way of thinking, and usually when we speak, it reflects a logical way of thinking. Look and see in the word of God whether there is a logical way of thinking. I guarantee there is not. There are people who wrote a script called “The True Way Has Suffered Persecution Since Ancient Times,” which says that “the more the Chinese Communist Party, Satan, opposes and condemns it, the more it becomes possible that this is the true way.” God says these words are not acceptable, these words carry with them some logical conjecture and thus don’t stand up to scrutiny. When I heard this, I knew that’s how it was. When God speaks, He does not want such logical inferences and speculations. In God’s word there isn’t any speculation, so no wonder it is sometimes impossible to fathom why God is speaking or acting in a certain way. Sometimes that is just divinity! What relationship between God’s humanity and divinity is mentioned in God’s word? Christ’s humanity is influenced and affected by divinity, and this is certain, so when Christ expresses speech, sometimes when He fellowships with people, His speech does not have the logical mode of thinking of normal humanity. What He says expresses the truth directly and does not have a human way of thinking. You see that when I speak, no matter what I say, once people hear it, they’ll agree that it reflects normal humanity, that it has a way of thinking. But look at God’s word and you won’t be able to see any logical way of thinking. Can you tell the difference? Here, God says: “However, God’s essence is ideology-free and thought-free. It does not incorporate human ideas and even lacks what humans normally have.” Within divinity, there isn’t that which is in humanity. The normal humanity that Christ clothes Himself in is merely to maintain His ordinary life in the flesh, but actually, this is not within the essence of divinity. Is this an adequate explanation? When the day comes when God’s work in the flesh is finished, and He has transfigured His form and becomes a spiritual body, will He still have normal humanity? No, it will no longer be there. Does this need to be explained in any further detail? There are people who say that we are unable to fathom God’s humanity. If you can’t fathom it, then don’t make any guesses about it. Just accept the truth. Because in God’s essence of divinity there is no humanity, nor any human admixture, human notions, or any human way of thinking that is incorporated. It even lacks what is present in ordinary humans. This is the difference between divinity and humanity. So Christ’s humanity is only something that He clothes Himself in externally. It is used for maintaining His life in the flesh, and there is no admixture of humanity incorporated in His work. Thus you should have no doubt about whether Christ’s speech comes out of human thought or whether it has any human admixture incorporated. Don’t have any doubt about this! Because Christ’s divinity in His work is not influenced by humanity, is not limited by humanity, and even more does not incorporate any humanity. You can see that the text mentions that “God’s essence is ideology-free and thought-free. It does not incorporate human ideas and even lacks what humans normally have.” This is the essence of Christ’s divinity. Understand this?
Question (2): How should we differentiate between deceitfully harboring suspicions about people and discerning people?
Answer: Harboring suspicions about people means someone is suspicious of everyone they see. When they discover someone is doing something, they start to make all kinds of guesses about it. They like to study people in their minds. This is the mentality of harboring suspicions about people. It’s like when they see a person who does something not in accordance with the rules, they immediately get a fixed opinion about the person, such as, “This guy definitely has a bad humanity.” Isn’t this harboring suspicions about people? If a person’s clothing is plain, they’ll say, “Oh, this person’s family must be pretty poor!” Isn’t this harboring suspicions about people? If they see that a person is short, they say, “Oh, this must be because this person doesn’t have enough to eat, it’s caused by some nutritional deficiency.” Isn’t this harboring suspicions about people? When they see a man who has a loose tongue, they say, “Oh, this guy has a loose tongue, has a quick temperament, and tends to trip himself up!” Isn’t this harboring suspicions about people? Seeing a man they know associating a lot with officials, they say, “Oh, he is definitely trying to get a job as an official. He clings to superficial things and wants status.” Isn’t this harboring suspicions about people? We could say that harboring suspicions about people carries the nature of judgment and delineation. This is called suspicion. Don’t constantly suspect and delineate others because of some things they have done. When someone commit some transgressions, they say things like, “Oh, this guy definitely committed a lot of transgressions in the past, so many. We can tell just from the few we know about. Who knows how many other transgressions he has committed that we haven’t seen!” This is called delineation.
What kind of nature is it to be suspicious? First, it is a judgmental nature; second, it is a delineating nature. Delineating others easily means it’s easy to make mistakes. Sometimes you see a person who likes to ponder things behind people’s backs, so you begin to harbor a suspicion about him and say, “He is treacherous. You see how he always ponders things.” Seeing a person who stays silent for a time somewhere, not coming into contact with people or talking to anyone, you think, “Oh, he is antisocial, he’s not a good guy, and for sure he’s a deceitful person.” Seeing a person who loves to dress fashionably and dresses up whenever they can, you say, “Oh, she is really vain, and definitely very superficial.” What is the result of always being so suspicious of others? First, it is easy to misunderstand people; second, it is easy to do harm to people; third, it is easy to lose normal relationships, becoming unable to socialize with others; fourth, it is not easy to understand people. If you judge a person on the basis of just a few things, how can you understand them? There are many things that aren’t like this. For example if a person commits adultery, you think, “Oh, this is an evil person!” Not necessarily—do you know how he committed adultery? Maybe someone seduced them, and if they hadn’t been seduced they wouldn’t have committed adultery, so don’t mark them down as evil. Sometimes these things are transgressions from God’s perspective. If a person commits transgressions but corrects them and doesn’t commit them again and doesn’t do them again and again, they all can be forgiven by God. If transgressions are not resolved, they will take man to hell. God did not say it is committing a sin, God said it is committing a transgression, because the forgiveness and redemption of the Lord Jesus has an effect on believers. So don’t delineate them. Some people are constantly promiscuous and have ten or twenty partners, so they are promiscuous people. They commit fornication many times. It’s not that they are just failing the seduction tests, but that even if another person doesn’t seduce them, they would seduce others. Is this nature the same as that of the transgression of being occasionally seduced? It’s not the same, and you have to deal with them separately. You certainly must not delineate them. You see, if a person has committed adultery one time, God’s house says that if they pray and acknowledge their sin, and are willing to repent themselves, they can be admitted back into the church. Some people ask, “Can this kind of person be chosen to be a leader?” “If they have the ability, they can be a leader and can be selected. They can be chosen to be a leader.” Is this a fair way for God’s house to treat people? (Everyone says it is fair.) For example, how do you treat deceitful people? What is a deceitful person? Some people are honest and simple, and if they say one deceitful word or tell a lie, you say, “This is deceit. As soon as I saw you I knew you are a deceitful person, and you thought I couldn’t tell what you are. As soon as you said this just now, you showed yourself to be a deceitful person.” Isn’t this delineating people? Actually, they could be an honest person, and they only occasionally transgress or express this. If this person is simple and honest, but occasionally tells lies, this is just considered a transgression. But truly deceitful people tell lies the moment they open their mouths, and in everything they say you can’t tell what are lies and what is true. Those people are called deceitful people. So don’t delineate what deceitful people really are on the basis of one lie they tell, because delineating them like this is a mistake. There are no perfect people. No matter how normal someone’s humanity is, they are still not a perfect person, nor are there times when they don’t make mistakes. So if a person makes a little mistake or is at fault, it isn’t the same as them committing a sin. So what is it to commit a sin? Resisting God is a sin, and if you resist God and make judgments about God, you are standing beside Satan and doing evil, causing a disturbance for the chosen people of God, causing a disturbance in the life of the church, tearing down God’s work, spoiling the work done by God’s family, and ruining the chosen people of God–doing these things is committing a sin. You see that those who walk the path of the antichrists commit sins as soon as they become leaders. At first, they get the chosen people of God under their control. They don’t let them become intimate with God, and they don’t let them seek the true way, and this is committing a sin. This is a hundred times worse than one’s actions appearing on the outside to be a little bit wrong, and the consequences are unimaginable! Resisting God and offending God are what is meant by committing sins, isn’t that the case? If you steal a stalk of wheat from a wheat field, is that considered committing a sin? Is it considered a sin to violate some laws or regulations? If you aren’t among the congregation on the Sabbath but do some work instead, is that considered committing a sin? Those kinds of things are not committing sins. But the person who genuinely makes judgments about and resists God, even if on the outside his actions are all those of normal humanity, has already committed a sin. Judas sold out the Lord, and this was committing a sin. If a person denies God as soon as they are arrested and beaten in the police station, this is committing a sin, this is a great sin! Although you don’t curse people, or drink alcohol, or steal, or rob, this sin is great, because you have betrayed God and resisted God. Do you understand? Some people have small faults in their lives, like not caring about their dress or cleanliness. Some people like to drink some alcohol or eat a bit of meat, but if they have a good heart, do you think they can be preached? Can they do their duty? Some people pretend to be good and devout, and to have the likeness of a normal person, but they always have notions about God, and always make judgments about and resist God. Who do you think will receive salvation? It will not do to always rely on external appearances—you must look at the substance.
