Today I will mainly fellowship about how one should serve God in believing in God, what qualifications one who serves God should have and what things he should understand, and what deviations there are in your service. All these are what you should understand. These things have to do with how you should believe in God and how you can step onto the way of being led by the Holy Spirit, letting God manipulate in everything, so that you will have knowledge of every step of work God does on you. When you have reached such a stage, you will know what it really means to believe in God, how you can believe in God successfully, and how you can act to God’s will, so that you will be completely obedient to whatever God does, without any complaint, neither judging nor analyzing it, much less researching it, even to the point that you all can be obedient to God unto death and let yourselves be led or slaughtered by God as a sheep, so that every one of you can become a Peter of the nineties and can love God to the utmost even on the cross without any complaint. Only then will you have lived out the style of Peter of the nineties.
Everyone who has the will may serve God, but only those who care for God’s will and understand God’s will are qualified and entitled to serve God. From your experience, it can be seen that many think that serving God is to preach for God, run around for God, spend for God, give up everything for God with a fervent heart, and so on; more religious people think that serving God is to preach the gospel of the kingdom of heaven with the Bible everywhere and save people by asking them to repent and confess their sins; many religious officials think that serving God is to preach in the churches and teach people by reading the verses of the Bible after having advanced studies and receiving training in theological schools; many fellow brothers and sisters think that serving God is to dedicate their whole being for God without getting married or building a family all their life; some people in the “poor areas” think that serving God is to heal the brothers and sisters, drive demons out of them, intercede for them, and minister to them; many among you think that serving God is to eat and drink God’s word and pray to God every day and walk among the churches everywhere; or some say that serving God is to live the church life. But very few understand what it really means to serve God. Although those who serve God are as numerous as stars, very few of them, too few to mention, can serve God directly or serve to God’s will. Why do I say so? It is because you do not understand the substance of the words “serving God,” and you understand too little about how you can serve to God’s will. Today I will mainly fellowship about what kind of service is after God’s heart and how you can serve to the satisfaction of God’s heart.
If you want to serve to God’s will, you need to first know what kind of people God is pleased with, what kind of people God hates, what kind of people God perfects, and what kind of people can be qualified to serve God. These are what you should at least know. Even more, you should know what the purpose of God’s work is and what work God wants to do now. After you know these, you should, through the guidance of God’s word, enter in first and receive God’s commission first. When you have practical experience in God’s word and have true knowledge of God’s work, you will be qualified to serve God. God will open your spiritual eyes when you serve him, so that you will know God’s work better and more clearly. When you enter into this reality, your experience will become deeper and more practical. All who have such experience will be able to walk among the churches supplying the brothers and sisters, so that you can learn from each other and make up each other’s deficiencies and have richer knowledge in your spirit. Only after you have achieved such a result will you be able to serve to God’s will and be perfected by God in the course of your service.
He who serves God should be God’s bosom friend, with whom God is pleased and who can be utterly faithful to God. Everything he does, whether behind others’ backs or to their faces, can gain God’s pleasure before God and can stand before God, and no matter how others treat you, you always walk the way you should walk to care for God’s burden. Such is God’s bosom friend. God’s bosom friend can serve God directly, because he has God’s great commission and God’s burden, and he can take God’s heart as his heart and God’s burden as his burden without considering his future gain or loss; even if he may end up with nothing or gain nothing in the future, he always believes in God with a “heart” of loving God. So, such a person is God’s bosom friend. God’s bosom friend is God’s intimate friend. Only God’s intimate friend will worry what God worries and think what God thinks. Although his flesh may suffer and be weak, he can endure the suffering and give up what he loves to satisfy God. God will give more burdens to such a person, and what God wants to do will be expressed through such a person. So, such a person is one with whom God is pleased and a servant of God who is after God’s heart. Only such a person can reign and rule with God. When you truly become God’s bosom friend, it will be the time you reign and rule with God.
The reason why Jesus could accomplish God’s commission, accomplishing the work of redeeming all mankind, was that he could care for God’s will and did not have his own plans or arrangements. He is God’s bosom friend whom you know best— God Godself. (Actually, he is God Godself whom God testified. Here I mention him to illustrate one point with his case.) He could center on God’s management plan and always prayed to the heavenly Father and sought the will of the heavenly Father. He prayed, “Father! If it is your will, may you accomplish it. Yet not according to my will, but according to your plan. Though man is weak, why should you be mindful of him? How could man who is like an ant in your hand be worthy of your care? My heart only wishes that your will be accomplished. May you accomplish in me what you want to do according to your will.” On his way to Jerusalem, Jesus felt extreme pain as if a knife were being twisted in his heart, but he did not have the slightest intention of turning back in his heart, and there was always a strong power directing him to walk toward the place of crucifixion. In the end, he was crucified and became in the likeness of sinful flesh, and accomplished the work of redeeming all mankind. He transcended all the bondage of death and Hades. Death, hell, and Hades lost their power before him and were overcome by him. Over the thirty-three years of his life, he always did his best to satisfy God’s heart’s desire according to God’s work of that time, and he never considered his own gain or loss but always thought about the will of God the Father. That is why God said after he was baptized: “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased.” Because his service before God was after God’s heart, God put the heavy task of redeeming all mankind on his shoulders for him to accomplish. He was qualified and entitled to accomplish that great mission. He underwent so many sufferings for God and went through so many temptations of satan in his life, but he never lost heart. God trusted him and loved him, so he entrusted such a great mission to him. That is why God personally said: “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased.” At that time, only he was able to accomplish that commission. This is part of the fact about God’s accomplishing the work of redeeming all mankind in the Age of the Grace.
If you can care for God’s burden like Jesus and forsake your flesh, God will commit his great mission to you and make you meet the qualifications for serving God. Only at that point can you be said to be ones who carry out God’s will, who complete God’s commission, and who truly serve God. Checking yourself against the truth of Jesus’ case, do you dare to say that you are God’s bosom friend? Do you dare to say that you are one who carries out God’s will? Do you dare to say that you are one who truly serves God? Now you do not even know how to serve God; do you dare to say that you are God’s bosom friend? You say that you are one who serves God; aren’t you blaspheming God? You should think this over: Is the one you are serving God or yourself? You are serving satan but you stubbornly say that you are serving God; isn’t this blaspheming God? Many people indulge in the blessings of position, indulge in eating and sleeping, and care for their flesh behind my back, always fearing that there may be no way out for their flesh. In the church, they do not perform their function normally but freeload or lecture the brothers and sisters with my words and lord it over others in a high position. They repeatedly claim that they are ones who carry out God’s will and always say that they are God’s bosom friends. Isn’t this a fallacy? If you have a right intent but fail to serve to God’s will, this means that you are ignorant. But if you have a wrong intent, yet you say that you are one who serves God, then you are one who resists God, and you deserve to be punished by God! I will not pity such a person! You freeload in God’s family, always indulge in fleshly ease, do not consider God’s interests, always seek after benefits for yourself, pay no attention to God’s will, cannot accept the searching of God’s Spirit in what you do, always act crookedly and craftily to cheat the brothers and sisters, and act one way to others’ faces and another behind their backs, like a fox entering a vineyard, always stealing the grapes and trampling the vineyard. Could such a person be God’s bosom friend? Are you worthy to inherit God’s blessings? You do not have any burden for your own life or for the church; are you worthy to receive God’s commission? Who would dare to trust such a person as you! You serving like this, would God dare to entrust a greater task to you? Wouldn’t it be hindered?
I say these for the purpose that you should know what qualifications are required for a service after God’s heart. If you do not give your heart to God and do not care for God’s will like Jesus, then you can hardly gain God’s trust, and in the end there will only be God’s judgment coming upon you. Maybe now you always serve God with a heart of cheating God, but God still gives attention to you. Anyway, if you cheat God, there will be merciless judgment coming upon you. Now when you have just entered the right track of serving God, you should first give your heart to God and should not have a divided heart. Whether before God or before men, if your heart is always toward God and you can have the same will to love God as Jesus, God will perfect you and make you a servant of his who is after his heart. If you truly want to be perfected by God and have a service after God’s heart, then you should change your former viewpoints of believing in God and change your former old ways of serving God, so that you can have more parts to be perfected by God within. Then God will not abandon you, and you will become a pioneer in loving God like Peter. If you still persist in your wrong course, then you will end up like Judas. This is what all believers in God should understand.
