Ever since God’s family required, in view of the incidents of false christs deceiving people, that the churches eat and drink anew the truths concerning the vision, I had often fellowshipped with the brothers and sisters: “The vision is the foundation of our belief in God. Without the vision, we not only can’t fight for the truth, but we will be easily deceived by false christs or antichrists….” And I urged them to spend more time and effort in eating and drinking God’s words concerning the vision as well as in answering the questions concerning the vision. However, I myself paid little attention to eating and drinking those words of God; I excused myself every day on the ground that I was busy at work and did not have time to eat and drink them.
One day when the life deacon and I were having a meeting with the new believers who had just joined the church, an antichrist (a new believer, a former leader of a certain denomination; for position’s sake he always wanted to pull the brothers and sisters back to his former denomination) rose up and made disturbance: “We listen only to God. Why require us to obey the man used by the Holy Spirit absolutely? He is also a corrupt man. This is not God’s work, but man’s nonsense….” Disturbed by his mischievous words, the brothers and sisters who had always looked up to him all took side with him, and the few remaining became utterly confused, with their eyes fixed on us.
Seeing the antichrist causing trouble and the brothers and sisters being deceived, I did not know which piece of word I should pick to refute him though I held the book of God’s word in my hands. I opened my mouth and merely said “You’re wrong; this is offending God,” and then had nothing more to say. I stood there blankly, sweating with anxiety. At this time, the life deacon composedly and deftly opened the book of God’s word, and read: “‘God’s work in the age of his incarnation’ includes two parts. The incarnated flesh of God does one part personally and speaks personally in doing it. After he has fulfilled his ministry, he will entrust the other part to the men used by the Holy Spirit. …” “The work done by the man used by God is to cooperate with the work of Christ or the work of the Holy Spirit. He is a man raised up by God among people to lead all God’s chosen people and a man raised up by God to do the work of cooperation in humanity. … It can be said that God’s purpose in using this man is that all those who follow God can better understand God’s will and meet more of God’s requirements. Because all people cannot directly understand God’s word or God’s will, God raises up a man used by him to do such work. The man used by God can be said to be a go-between through whom God leads people and an ‘interpreter’ through whom God communicates with people. …the man used by God is raised up by God, is prepared by God for his own work, and is one who cooperates with God Godself in doing the work. His work cannot be done by any other man in his stead and is an indispensable work of cooperation in humanity when God is working in divinity. …the man used by God is a man who has been prepared by God and who has very good qualities and has humanity. He has been prepared and perfected by the Holy Spirit ahead of time. He is led completely by the Holy Spirit, and he is directed and governed by the Holy Spirit especially in working. So, he will not deviate on the path of leading God’s chosen people because God will surely be responsible for his own work and he is doing his own work all the time.” “Concerning the work or the church affairs, apart from obeying God, you should obey the man used by the Holy Spirit in every aspect and should not disobey him in any way but should obey him absolutely. Do not judge whether he is right or wrong. Whether he is right or wrong has nothing to do with you. You should just obey him absolutely.” After reading these words, the sister gave a refutation, saying: “God’s work in the age of his incarnation includes two parts. One part is that the incarnated God fulfills his ministry personally, and the other part is that the man used by the Holy Spirit continues the work and leads people to enter into the truth. This is the principle of God’s working through being incarnated. Because we have no ability to understand the truth, God has personally raised up among us a man used by God to be an ‘interpreter’ through whom God communicates with us, and to shepherd us and lead us to better understand God’s will. The man used by God was raised up by God Godself, and he has been prepared and perfected by God ahead of time to cooperate with God’s work in the flesh. His work is completely directed and governed by the Holy Spirit and will never be wrong, for God will be responsible for his own work to the end. Even God trusts the man but we do not trust him; aren’t we resisting God? …”
After the fierce refutation, the new believers, having gained knowledge of God’s work and had discernment, all rejected the antichrist and came over to God’s side. At last, the antichrist had nothing to say and went away in dejection.
In the evening, I did not know how I reached home. The scenes of the past hour replayed in my mind all the time: The antichrist was swollen with arrogance; I stood there awkward and dull; the brothers and sisters had no discernment and looked at me for a reply with confused eyes; the sister deftly flipped the pages over and clearly fellowshipped about the truth concerning the vision; the brothers and sisters gained knowledge and made a right choice; the antichrist took to flight. All these made me terribly distressed. I kept looking for a reason for avoiding the embarrassing matter. But at the moment, God’s words rang in my ears: “When you preach the gospel, communicate about the truth, and testify about God to others, if you cannot confute them, they will confute you. Won’t you be a trash? … Now is the time when God is doing his work, and if you do not pursue to gain knowledge, it will be too late for you to pursue in the future. If in the end you cannot communicate any knowledge and are empty within and have nothing, what account can you give? Will you have the face to see God?” “Some people equip themselves with some truths just to meet urgent need and to sacrifice themselves to help others, rather than to solve their own difficulties. We call this kind of people ‘selfless people.’ They regard only others as puppets of the truth but regard themselves as the master of the truth. They teach others to try to keep the truth and not to be passive, but they themselves look on. What kind of people are they? … We should call such people hypocrites without reality.”
God’s severe judgment pierced straight to my heart. In the face of the fact, I threw myself onto the bed and burst into tears. God’s family uplifted me to be a leader with the purpose that I can pursue and understand and enter into the truth, and at the same time bring the brothers and sisters before God. But what did I do? All day long, I indulged in talking about doctrines. I asked the brothers and sisters to often eat and drink the truths concerning the vision lest they fail to stand for God’s testimony and be deceived, yet I placed myself outside the requirement of God’s family and busied myself running around every day. I never paid attention to equipping myself with these truths and always gave in to myself on the pretext that I was busy at work and did not have time to eat and drink them, as if I had had them and could guarantee that I would stand at any time. But today in the test of the fact, the sister, having equipped herself with the truths concerning the vision, confuted the antichrist and stood for God’s testimony, whereas the “rich” I, because of lacking these truths, failed to confute the antichrist, became a laughingstock of satan and the antichrist, and became a sign of shame. Am I not a hypocritical Pharisee? I am in such a wretched situation today, and I have only myself to blame.
O Almighty God, thank you for exposing me. Through this matter, I have known that I’m a hypocrite without reality. I myself had nothing and did not pay attention to equipping myself with the truth, yet I taught others every day. I was really arrogant to the extreme! At the same time, I have truly realized that it is so important to equip oneself with the truths concerning the vision. O God, now my remorse is too late. That humiliating scene has been engraved on my mind like a brand. I know time can never flow back and I can never redeem my fault of today. I will draw lessons from this bitter experience and no longer be a hypocritical Pharisee. From now on, I will spend time and effort on your word and equip myself with more truths concerning the vision, so as to gain knowledge of your work and be a person who can stand for your testimony and satisfy you.
