Once a sister I knew who was in charge of the work of a small district threw up the work and went home to get married. About her choice, I then had a very ill opinion: Although your legitimate marriage does not violate the morals, you should not irresponsibly throw up the work and go. Aren’t you being unfaithful? And I thought that God’s family would never assign such a person to be a leader again. Over eight months later, unexpectedly, this sister was reappointed a small-district leader. When I learned about that, I thought to myself: How come God’s family uses such a person again? If so, everyone can throw up his duty as he wishes. In my opinion, as she threw up the work and went, she should be cleared away. But today, she is actually put to use again. So I had notions about the way God’s family used people.
One morning, during my spiritual devotions, I read these two passages of God’s word: “When God is doing the work of salvation, he will try his utmost to save all those who can be saved and will not cast off any one of them, because the purpose of his work is to save man. … God only does the work with words, and he does not punish people for their little disobedience, because now is the time he is doing the work of salvation. If he punished people once they are disobedient, all of them would have no opportunity to be saved but would be punished and fall into Hades. … Everyone who accepts God’s conquering with words has several opportunities of being saved. In saving every person, God will save him to the utmost, that is, show him the greatest tolerance. As long as he can realize his errors and turn back and as long as he can repent, God will give him the opportunity to receive salvation.” “God comes this time not to strike men down but to save them to the utmost. Who can be free from transgressions? If all men were struck down, would that be salvation? Some of men’s transgressions are deliberate, but some are involuntary. … In doing the work, God always shows men the utmost tolerance. It can be seen from here that this work is truly a work of saving men.”
After reading these words, I came to realize this: I had notions about God’s family reappointing the sister as the small-district leader; isn’t this because I did not know God’s work of saving man to the utmost? Now God does the work of saving man for the last time; God does not want anyone whom he created with his own hands to be punished and destroyed. During the period when God does the work of salvation, everyone has some disobedience and transgressions, but as long as he can realize his errors and turn back and repent with a true heart, God will give him the opportunity to receive salvation. The sister is an illustration of this. Although at that time she gave up her duty because of her marriage, yet today she turned back and repented of herself, and was willing to choose God again and do her best to pursue the truth and perform her duty, so God gave her the opportunity. This is because God looks at man’s transformation and man’s pursuit and does not condemn man according to one transgression of his, and God particularly sympathizes with and allows for man’s weaknesses and deficiencies. God has a thorough knowledge of man as to what fleshly weaknesses man has and what things he can do against a certain background, and always shows man the utmost tolerance. I, however, fixed my eyes on the transgression of the sister and did not see her later transformation. I limited her to my notions, thinking that such a person as her should be cleared away and could never be reappointed a leader. I was really arrogant and self-right and was too ignorant of God’s work of saving man. If it were as I thought, then how many people could be saved? Wouldn’t everyone be punished and fall into Hades?
Thank God for the circumstance he arranged and for the inspiration of his words. I have realized God’s great tolerance and salvation for man, and seen my ugliness of living in my own notions because I had no knowledge of God. From now on, I will, in God’s work, pursue to know God, know God’s being, understand God’s intention of saving man, and view everything from the side of God’s word, so that my viewpoints on things can soon be in harmony with God.
