The Four Criteria One Must Fulfill in Order to Obtain Salvation
The Criteria That One Must Fulfill in Order to Obtain Salvation
There are four criteria that one must fulfill in order to obtain salvation. We must achieve these four criteria. If we do not, we will definitely not be saved by God. These four criteria are most important for everyone who pursues the truth and are also the criteria that we must achieve in pursuing the truth.
The first criterion is that one must have the faith of Job. We all know clearly about Job’s testimony of faith. Job’s bearing this kind of testimony indicates that Job’s faith was particularly genuine, real and not vague at all. Within Job’s faith, he was able to know God’s almighty rule, he was able to see that everything that man had and enjoyed was bestowed by God and came from God, and man’s investment and cost did not determine everything. Within Job’s heart, he definitely knew the principle “Man proposes but God disposes.” It is similar to a farmer’s saying “Farming depends on man, harvesting depends on Heaven.” That is why Job clearly knew that everything that he had was completely bestowed by God. It was not obtained based on his individual ability. Today there are many people who do not see that everything that man has comes from God’s grace. They always believe that it is obtained through man’s hard work and wisdom. This kind of person does not have true faith in God, because they do not see God’s rule. There are some believers who believe this. If they are stripped of their possessions, they will believe that this is due to their mistake. Even though their mouths blame God for being unfair, their hearts do not acknowledge that it is God that deprives them of their possessions. If they obtain some possessions, regardless of how plentiful, they still believe that it is due to their hard work and wisdom. They believe that it is not related to God or they will pay lip service by saying, “I have been blessed by God.” However, in their hearts they have doubts and they are not certain about this. Does this kind of person have knowledge of God? Absolutely not. They believe in God yet do not have a genuine knowledge of God’s rule and God’s almightiness. Their faith lacks a lot of real things. They do not believe that God is able to bestow everything to man. Their faith lacks this. They even do not believe that they themselves were created by God. Their mouths say that they believe that God can bestow everything to man but their hearts believe that they came from their mother and father, that their mother and father gave birth to them and raised them and that they have nothing to do with God. Does this kind of person have genuine faith in God? Their faith is only based on acknowledging God’s existence. Therefore when this kind of person encounters trials, they will absolutely complain to God. When they are enjoying God’s abundance, they definitely do not acknowledge that it is God’s grace and God’s blessing. That is why they do not worship God at all. If one’s faith is merely based on acknowledging God’s existence and he believes that everything else is unrelated to God, is his faith tenable? From God’s perspective, it is not tenable. He is an unbeliever! This is because he does not believe in God’s rule and God’s almightiness, he does not believe that God leads, provides and protects the human race, and moreover, he does not believe that everything that man has is due to God’s bestowment and that it is all predestined by God. His disbeliefs are sufficient to indicate that his heart does not believe in God. He simply acknowledges God’s existence and his heart is still full of all kinds of doubts. If a person only acknowledges God’s existence, that means that within his life, he definitely does not have the reality of believing in God and much less does he have the reality of obeying God. This is because he believes that everything is not related to God and that everything depends on man’s doings. Do you think that a person with this kind of faith can bear witness to God’s deeds? He cannot! Within this person’s heart, God does not have a place. This kind of person nominally believes in God. His mouth will never testify to God’s miraculous deeds. Job’s faith is an example of genuine testimony. In front of Satan, he acknowledged that everything he had was bestowed by God and that the deprivation that he encountered was permitted by God. This indicates that Job had a genuine knowledge of God, and he believed that everything depended on God. This is the most important aspect of Job’s faith. What connection does Job’s faith have with his reverence for God and shunning of evil? If he only acknowledged God’s existence and could not see God’s rule over everything, would he be able to revere God? If he did not know that everything man had came from God’s bestowment, he would not pray to God and worship God like that. These days, why is it that of all believers in God, not one is able to genuinely worship God? What is the origin of this? It is due to their complete lack of knowledge of God. They are unable to see God’s dominance over everything and unable to see everything that God does for mankind, as if mankind’s existence, life and destiny were all unrelated to God. How can this kind of person worship God? If you are unable to see that everything that you have obtained and everything that you have enjoyed from the day that you were born all the way until the present was predestined by God, then you would not have a heart that reveres God. So for man to have a heart that reveres God is not a simple matter. Today, while we pursue the truth, eat and drink God’s word and experience God’s work, we certainly have seen God’s deeds and God’s almightiness and moreover have experienced God’s disposition and wrath. We have some reverence and fear of God and do not dare to brazenly offend God. This is a result obtained from experiencing God’s work. Now, do you possess Job’s faith? It can be judged by whether you can see God’s rule over the fate of all mankind, whether you can see God’s almightiness and wisdom, whether you can see that God guides and provides for this mankind, and whether you can see that everything of mankind comes from God—that man’s destiny, man’s life and everything that man enjoys is provided by God, that all mankind’s destiny is arranged by God and ruled by God and that God allowed Satan to corrupt mankind and at the same time, He has been constantly doing the work of saving mankind. If you clearly see these deeds of God, then your faith is genuine. If your faith is not merely based on acknowledging God’s existence but is based on a belief in God’s almightiness and His rule, a belief that everything that God does is providing for and saving mankind and moreover that God is absolutely righteous and has genuine love for mankind, if your faith is constituted by these elements, then you will definitely have a heart that reveres God and you will be able to keep your distance from all evil. This kind of faith is completely identical with Job’s faith. If you truly have Job’s faith, then you will not resist God, deny God or betray God when you encounter any kind of trials. Instead, you will be able to praise God, worship God and obey God’s arrangements and orchestration forever. These are the results that can be achieved from having Job’s faith. Job had a heart that revered God and he was able to keep his distance from all evil conduct. He did not do anything that resisted God and even less did he deny God or betray God. Do you have a heart that reveres God? Do your conduct and deeds consist of evil actions? Have you come in contact with any evil ones among the corrupt people? Have you conspired with the evil people to do things that resist God? Some people like evil persons. They are interested in those who are arrogant and conceited and those that run amok. Whatever these people say or do, they respond. They are willing to join this gang of people. Would you say that those people who are able to do evil things have Job’s faith? Are they people that revere God? The people who do not have a heart within that reveres God do not have a genuine faith in God. This is for certain. If you want to determine whether someone in the church can be saved, you have to first look at whether they fear God, whether they have a heart that reveres God and whether they can keep their distance from evil conduct. Judging by this, you will be able to see how their destiny and outcome will be like. Someone said, “There are so many people that believe in God. Just what kind of person is able to obtain salvation? What kind of person will be eliminated? How can this be weighed?” In a word, it is weighed according to whether a person has a heart that reveres God and whether he can keep his distance from evil conduct. This is the most accurate way of judging. If a person has a heart that fears God and can shun evil, he is someone who has a genuine faith in God and who truly believes in God. Even if there are some matters that he does not understand or in which he cannot grasp God’s will, he who truly believes in God would not do evil deeds. This is for certain. What kind of enlightenment should we gain from Job’s testimony? Job did not experience God’s work, but he was able to know God’s deeds, and he could see that everything that mankind had obtained and all that they enjoyed was bestowed by God. This knowledge is not something that is easily attainable. Let’s take a look at the people around us and the people of this age. Many of them have lived until 70 or 80 years of age but they have not had this kind of knowledge of God. Many have believed in God for all their lives yet they still do not have this kind of knowledge. Job had never experienced God’s work but was able to have this kind of knowledge. Particularly, he was able to revere God and keep far away from evil, and he was a perfect man. What can we see from this point? Job had knowledge of God. Job had not experienced the Holy Spirit’s work nor enjoyed so much of God’s word. How was he able to have knowledge of God? Have you pondered on this matter before? Additionally, Job had a heart that revered God and he was able to keep far away from evil. People today, even if they have a heart that reveres God, are unable to keep far away from evil. Sometimes, they still do things that resist God, are capable of interrupting Gods’ work and are rebellious against God in their hearts. When their flesh experiences pain, they are even able to complain to God. Looking at this, how are we different from Job? It can definitely be said that Job’s humanity and caliber was better than ours. What do you think of our humanity? Even though we have some reverence for God, are we able to keep far away from evil? Of our conduct and deeds, how much of it is resistant to God? Many times we arbitrarily take rash actions and follow our hearts’ desires, do things according to our own purposes without being considerate of God’s will at all and even act against the truth. What kind of issue is this? People in the last days are deeply corrupted. Their disposition is very malicious and selfish. Even though they have a heart that reveres God, they do not have a heart that loves God in the slightest bit and moreover they are not considerate of God’s will at all. Isn’t their humanity extremely bad? Job’s humanity and caliber is indeed much better than ours. We can see this clearly now. Job did not enjoy so much truth that God has expressed today, yet he was able to keep far away from evil. This is not easy! Without God’s work, how rotten would people these days have become? What is it called according to the logic of Satan? “As a small mind makes no gentleman, a real man is not without venom” and “Everyone for himself and the devil take the hindmost.” People who can unscrupulously achieve their own goals are all extremely selfish. How selfish are they? They are able to kill others for even a few dollars. They are not willing to even take a small bit of a loss. Once anyone has taken the slightest advantage of them, they will use violent means to take revenge on him—“We will not attack unless we are attacked; if we are attacked, we certainly counterattack.” People’s hatred is very intense. Isn’t this due to the fact that man’s corruption is too deep? Man’s corruption is too deep! At that time Job did not have the opportunity to listen to God expressing the truth, nor did he understand the truth. Why was it that he did not do any evil? What did he rely on to live? He relied on his conscience to live. He used his conscience to weigh whether he would do something and whether it would be resisting God. People who rely on their conscience to live are the best persons. Are there any people nowadays who rely on their conscience to live? No. Everyone relies on Satan’s philosophy to live. Their lives revolve around profit. They put the principle of benefiting themselves above all else. They seek nothing but personal profit. They are not guided by righteousness but by profit. Let’s consider again: During Job’s time, God didn’t work, yet how was Job able to know God’s deeds? How was he able to develop a genuine knowledge of God? At present, we can only say that Job understood God’s deeds based on the laws of the heavens and earth and all things created by God as well as external environments and the things he saw in the external world. We, on the other hand, gain knowledge of God’s deeds through God’s work, the words that God has expressed, and our enjoyment of the work of the Holy Spirit. Which method is easier in terms of knowing God? The most direct way to know God is by experiencing God’s work and enjoying everything that the Holy Spirit does. This particularly involves enjoying the Holy Spirit’s enlightenment and illumination, which cannot be imagined through our thoughts, when it comes to many situations and God’s word. So experiencing God’s work and enjoying the work of the Holy Spirit is the easiest way to know God. Job at that time was unable to enjoy the Holy Spirit’s work, but he was able to attain knowledge of God. We, on the other hand, are able to enjoy the Holy Spirit’s work yet we are unable to attain knowledge of God. Isn’t Job’s caliber far better than ours? Think about the conversations between Job and his friends in the Book of Job. Today, those who do not believe in God, regardless of what age they are, whether they are 70, 80 or even older than 100, are they able to say these kinds of things? Do they have this kind of insight? That kind of insight cannot be attained by people nowadays. Now that we have experienced God’s work for several years, are we able to talk about our genuine knowledge of God? Can our knowledge convince all religious people so that they will say, “Your knowledge of God is so real. Where did you obtain this knowledge?” If your witness to God is able to attain such a result, that indicates that you have knowledge of God. If you have experienced God’s work but you are unable to talk about a genuine knowledge of God, you are much inferior to Job. Therefore, we can completely confirm that in order to be saved, one must possess Job’s faith. This is something that people who believe in God must have at the very least. Within God’s word, He has spoken clearly about this. Why does God repeatedly mention Job’s faith? Basically, when it comes to God’s work in the last days of saving mankind, this kind of witness is something that people must attain. They must fulfill this criterion.
The second criterion that one must fulfill in order to attain salvation is to have a genuine knowledge of God. God said that amongst the generations of saints, Peter was the one who had the best knowledge of God. Peter knew God best and obtained God’s praise. Why did God say this? Without a doubt, God’s intention is that through His work in the last days, He wants to perfect a group of people that know God in the same way as Peter did. Regardless of how deep your knowledge of God is, you must at the very least have some genuine knowledge of God. This genuine knowledge is definitely not theoretical knowledge or merely repeating the words that other people speak, “God is righteous, God is almighty.” A practical knowledge of God is something gained through experience. It is a genuine knowledge of God that one feels in his heart. Now, are you able to talk about your genuine knowledge of God within your heart? After you have finished speaking some doctrines, other people will say, “That’s doctrine. Can you say something practical? Use your own words….” Can you say it? If you are unable to say anything under this circumstance, this indicates that you do not have knowledge of God. When someone speaks of his most genuine knowledge of God, how many aspects of this he is able to talk about and how deep his knowledge about these aspects is reveals how great his stature is. Would you say that it is meaningful for people to have knowledge of God? It is very meaningful. This can determine their entire life and fate. In the unbelievers’ world, if a person learns a certain aspect of knowledge, it can be said that his prospects are great. He can find a good job, earn a good salary and have a relatively satisfactory life. However, this is of little value when compared to knowing God! If you have a genuine knowledge of God, the way you conduct yourself and your life will consequently shine brightly. With a genuine knowledge of God, it can be said that each thing you say to bear witness to God is something that mankind does not have and it is more valuable than gold. In the Old Testament, there was such a person and his name was Solomon. He was a king of the Israelites and he was the wisest person amongst the Israelites. Solomon’s fame spread far abroad, even to the ends of the world. The queen of the south was traveling to Israel purposely to listen to Solomon’s wise words. It is very valuable for someone to have such wisdom. There is not one other person amongst the entire human race with this wisdom. Everyone wanted to see such a wise person. Now, are wise words as valuable as the words that bear witness to God and the truth? They are incomparable. The words that communicate the best knowledge of God are better and more valuable than all the wisdom in the world. The result of experiencing God’s work in the last days is that people gain a genuine knowledge of God, thereby throwing off their corrupt disposition, breaking away from Satan’s influence and obtaining salvation in the end. If one does not have knowledge of God, he will have no goal in life. There would be no way for him to obtain salvation. Knowledge of God is absolutely vital and it plays a decisive role in regard to obtaining salvation and living a true human life. It could be said that this determines everything! All of our change and everything that we have obtained are based on having a genuine knowledge of God. Which aspects are included in having knowledge of God? Firstly, one must know God’s work, that is, how God works, what work He is doing, what results He wishes to attain and what methods He is utilizing. Secondly, one must have knowledge of God’s disposition. This includes having knowledge of God’s emotions. Thirdly, one must have knowledge of God’s essence. Having knowledge of God’s essence is absolutely connected to having knowledge of what God has and is. For example when people have knowledge of God’s wisdom and almightiness, they will also have knowledge of God’s essence. Having knowledge of how God works in a humble and hidden manner, of God’s patience, of how God examines people’s hearts, of the principles of the work that God does on people and of God’s arrangements for the final destination of all kinds of people represents having knowledge of God. Therefore, having knowledge of God’s disposition and what God has and is along results in a genuine knowledge of God’s essence. When someone has knowledge of God’s essence, he will never develop notions about God, judge God, deny God and betray God again. This is because he sees that God’s essence is almighty, righteous and the truth. God’s essence is the Spirit. God’s wisdom is something that man cannot measure. Therefore, regardless of what God does and regardless if it is in accordance with man’s notions, God is never wrong. What man understands is but a drop in the ocean. Therefore, people must never try to determine whether God is wrong. Using man’s insignificant knowledge to determine whether God is wrong is very ignorant. God’s wisdom is higher than all the heavens. Therefore, with man’s imagination, man’s way of thinking, man’s conceptions and philosophies, people have no way of figuring out what God is like, not to mention judging whether God is right or wrong. Therefore, when a person is able to attain a genuine knowledge of God, he would never again develop notions. This is for certain. Fourthly, the last kind of knowledge of God involves knowing that Christ is the truth, the way and the life. If someone does not have knowledge of God in many different aspects, he would also not have a penetrating knowledge that Christ is the truth, the way and the life. Christ comes from God. He is the embodiment of God. He is the expression of God. Therefore, Christ is the truth, the way and the life. There is no doubt about this. If someone who believes in God has this kind of knowledge about Christ, he firmly believes that Christ is the truth, the way and the life, and he will follow and serve Him forever, if this is the case, then this person has already attained salvation and perfection.
The third criterion that one must fulfill in order to attain salvation is that one must put the truth into practice and be able to obey God. After having experienced so much work of God and enjoyed so many truths that God has expressed, if someone has really attained salvation, shouldn’t he have to be a person that puts the truth into practice? He absolutely must be someone that puts the truth into practice. If a person understands much of the truth but does not put any of it into practice, isn’t he living under the domain of Satan? Isn’t he living within the corrupt disposition of Satan? If he truly is living within the disposition of Satan and is unable to put the truth into practice, this is a sign that he has not been saved and that he is not someone that has attained salvation. Therefore, the third criterion is also the requirement that one must meet in order to attain salvation, which is that if what you do does not involve the truth, then you must rely on your conscience and reason to do it. If it involves the principles of the truth, then you must do it by God’s words and put the truth into practice. What are the positive results that can be attained through putting the truth into practice? The results are that you will be able to obey God, forsake Satan and forsake the flesh. This indicates that you are living before God and that you are living within the light. If you rely on the life philosophy of man to conduct yourself when it comes to many issues that involve the principles of the truth, what mistake are you liable to make? One is that you would resist God. The other is that unconsciously, you will deny God, betray God and follow Satan. If you do not put the truth into practice, undoubtedly, you will live within Satan’s disposition and under Satan’s influence in the same way that unbelievers do. This kind of person is someone who does not have the truth. … The ability to put the truth into practice means that you are obeying God. If you do not put the truth into practice, you are absolutely not obeying God. If you are only capable of putting the truth into practice when it comes to certain situations, then all that can be said is that you are able to obey God when it comes to those certain situations. If you are able to practice the truth in all matters that involve the principles of the truth, then it indicates that you are someone who genuinely obeys God. Some people obey when it comes to small matters but they disobey when it comes to big matters. They are able to obey in matters that do not involve their own benefit. When it comes to matters that directly involve their own benefit and even matters that affect their entire lives, they are unable to obey. Can these people be considered as people that obey God? To determine whether a person is someone that puts the truth into practice, it is necessary to see the range and nature of his putting the truth into practice. Some people are able to obey when it comes to small matters or matters that do not involve paying a price or enduring some suffering. If it involves suffering and even significant humiliation, they will betray God. They will rely on their temper and be dead set on having their own way. Is this kind of a person someone that obeys God? Right now, at what stage is your obedience at? This is how to examine it! Are you able to obey until death, like Peter who was truly someone that obeyed God? In order to become a person that genuinely obeys God, you must understand a lot of truth and you must understand the meaning of obeying God. Only then can you be able to pay a big price and even offer your life without regret. When a price needs to be paid, even the price of one’s own life, if one is unable to obey, it indicates that his spiritual stature is limited and insufficient. His heart that loves and obeys God is not big at all. If someone is able to obey God and even obey God until death, he is definitely someone that genuinely loves God. His love has reached a stage where he is even willing to die for God. Wouldn’t you say that this kind of love is strong? It is strong! If someone has this kind of a loving heart for God, then his knowledge of God must be very deep. If someone’s knowledge of God has not reached a certain extent, then that person’s love for God is not so great. Take a look at Peter’s loving heart for God. His love of God was supreme and he was willing to die for God. He obeyed God until his death. This is someone who is absolutely devoted to God. This is the direction in which we should aim to pursue. Regarding faith in God, we should strive to pursue and do everything that we can to have the kind of faith that Job had. When it comes to knowledge of God, we should aim for the kind of knowledge of Peter and strive to achieve it so that we will be able to obey God until death and have a supreme love of God. This is someone who has been perfected. This kind of person is very valuable in the eyes of God. God loves most the people that are similar to Peter. What we pursue at the very least is to obtain salvation. If you are able to put the truth into practice and obey God, then you will have attained salvation. That is, in the matters related to the principles of the truth, you will not betray God, will not deny God, and will be able to stand firm and bear witness. If you can attain this, that’s not bad and you are saved. Your ability to obey God to a certain point—even until death—is based on the depth of your knowledge of God. The deeper your knowledge is, the more genuine and greater your love for God is, and the stronger your obedience is. What aspects are included in putting the truth into practice? The first aspect is that no matter what you do, regardless if it is in conducting yourself, fulfilling your duties or serving God, you must act according to God’s word. There are principles to conducting yourself, principles to living, principles to fulfilling your duties and principles to serving God. Everything is principled and they are all based on these principles. This is what it means to put the truth into practice. This is how to fulfill the criteria for putting the truth into practice. It will not do if one has no principles. Having no principles, some people are simply following the rules in their practice. When you are just following the rules, it is easy to violate the principles and violate the truth. You are either off to one side or the other. You are unable to touch the essence. You do not grasp anything essential. The second aspect is that you must not violate any of the truths that you have understood. Suppose you encounter a matter that you are unsure of and you say, “I encounter a situation where I do not know how to practice the truth and I do not know what truth I should practice.” What should you do in this case? You should pray to God and seek the truth. When you don’t understand, you should not act arbitrarily. When you do not understand, you should not act like you understand. In this way, even if you do not understand, you will not commit an offense and you will not reveal corruption. This is not considered as violating the truth. Therefore, if you understand the truth, you must practice according to the truth. If you do not understand the truth, you should pray to God and seek the truth. Perhaps there are certain situations where you cannot grasp God’s will or that you’ve committed a mistake. However, after one or two instances of failure or deviation, in the end, you are able to understand the truth. Then, when you encounter the same kind of situations in the future, you will know how to put the truth into practice. Isn’t this entering onto the right track? The third aspect is that in the most crucial issues of your life, you must seek for God’s guidance and you must act based on the Holy Spirit’s enlightenment and illumination. If at the same time you are able to find an answer or a path in God’s word, this is even better. What is a crucial issue in your life? Crucial issues are significant matters in your life. … What other manifestations do those who obey God have? Aside from putting the truth into practice, they have learned how to obey God’s rule and arrangements. Regardless of God’s arrangements, they are able to obey. Regardless of how God judges, chastises, prunes and deals with them, they are able to accept. They have no other choice. Regardless of the work method that God utilizes or how He works they are able to obey. They absolutely do not betray God. This is the kind of person that obeys God. What kind of person most easily betrays God? Those that always have their own ideas, imagination and conceptions. Regardless of what situations they encounter, they always use their own conceptions and imaginations to weigh it. They do not obey. This is the type of person that most easily resists and betrays God. For example, during God’s work in the last days, many people have seen God’s words or listened to people bear witness to God’s work yet they rely on their conceptions to directly turn it down and deny it. They do not investigate at all and they do not seek at all. They blindly rely on their own conceptions to deny it. They rely on their own conceptions and imagination to deny it lightly. Does this kind of person easily betray God? Why does he betray God so easily? It is because he has the disposition of Satan. He is very arrogant and self-right. He cannot be convinced by anyone. He thinks that he is correct about everything. He weighs everything as if he had God’s wisdom and was able to see through anything. Therefore, regardless of what situations he encounters, he always has his own conclusion and comment to give. Wouldn’t you say that this kind of person does not have any rationality? This kind of person does not have any rationality. Actually, this is the silliest of people. … This is to say that in order to become someone who obeys God, you must resolve your disposition of Satan. Having satanic disposition, even if you wanted to obey, you would not be able to. It is not easy to become someone who obeys God!
The fourth criterion that one must fulfill in order to attain salvation is that one must have the conscience and rationality of normal humanity and be able to get along with other people. How can we measure whether someone has the likeness of a human being? The first thing is to see whether he has a conscience and rationality. The manifestations of having a conscience and rationality are as follows: Firstly, one must be able to fulfill his duties and repay God’s love. This is a manifestation of having a conscience. Secondly, one must be rational when speaking with other people. If it is so, then say it is so. If it is not so, then say it is not so. If you do not know, then say you do not know. Don’t pretend to know. If you do not understand, then say you do not understand. Don’t pretend to understand. Be practical and realistic when speaking. When you speak with God, speak from your heart. Speak about real matters. Do not be deceptive. This is a manifestation of having rationality. There is one more thing for measuring whether someone has the likeness of a human being and that is whether he can get along with other people. If he can get along with anybody while maintaining principles and properly deal with them, regardless if their inner quality is high or low, how corrupt they are and whether their humanity is good or bad, then this person is someone who has the likeness of a human being. Having the likeness of a human being means that when fulfilling duties, you have a conscience and you are able to repay God’s love. When speaking, you are rational. When you deal with other people, you are tolerant, patient, loving and wise. This is what it means to have the likeness of a human being. When you believe in God, experience God’s work and in the end, attain a change in your life disposition, one of the basic manifestations is that you have the likeness of a human being. Other people can see that you have the likeness that a human being basically should possess, and that you have a conscience and rationality, and everybody will say that you are quite good after they have dealt with you. They will say that you are not bad. This sort of person will be able to stand up tall amongst other people. They will acknowledge that you are a human being and that you are not a bad person or a rotten apple. They will say that you are able to get along with other people, deal with other people and open your heart to other people. This will mean that you have the likeness of a human being. That is why if you have attained salvation, you must have the likeness of a human being. If someone does not even have the likeness of a human being, would this person be someone that is saved? Nobody will be able to get along with him. Whoever spends a few days with him will feel disgusted and even curse and hate him. Does this kind of person have a conscience and rationality? Does he have the likeness of a human being? Therefore, all those whom the majority of people cannot get along with, do not have the humanity that meets the standard and they are definitely not saved. How can we verify that someone has a conscience and humanity? Firstly, he will be able to fulfill his duty and repay God’s love. Secondly, he knows to repay those who are good to him and knows who really treats him well and is of benefit to him. Additionally, if his mother and father are good people, are kind to him and support his faith in God, he can honor them. This is a manifestation of having a conscience. Thirdly, he is able to differentiate all sorts of unbelievers and evil people. He is able to treat them intelligently and can protect the church life. Fourthly, he must be able to love what God loves and hate what God hates. Regardless of the situation, he is able to stand on God’s side and be of one mind with God. Also, he has a sense of righteousness and he hates evil in the same way as he hates an enemy. He definitely is loving, sympathetic, patient, tolerant and can get along with his brothers and sisters. However, he hates and detests the enemies and evil people and breaks with them. This kind of person is someone who has the likeness of a human being. He is honest, pursues the truth, does things according to principles, has the truth and has humanity. Certainly, this is someone who has attained salvation and perfection. This is the humanity that people must possess to attain salvation. Presently, there are many people who do not get along with their brothers and sisters as they are fulfilling their duties. They cannot get along with anybody harmoniously. Some of them only keep one principle when they deal with others. When they see someone that is not pleasing to them, they continuously exercise patience. If they can do it, then it is fine. If they cannot, then they get angry, get in an argument and fight. Is this kind of principle correct? What good will it do you when you have such strained relationships with other people? Why is it that you are unable to work well with other people? What is the problem? Whose issue is it? Is it the other party’s fault that makes you unable to work well with him? Is this the case? Do you know what kind of problems you have yourself? Now, if you have the truth, you should be able to get along with anybody except for evil people whom you are unable to endure. Most brothers and sisters have not been perfected by God and have some corruption to reveal. Why are you unable to properly deal with them? Why are you unable to see other people’s strong points? Why are you unable to help other people to enter onto the right track with love? Why are you unable to help other people by using the truth to resolve their problems? Suppose you see someone else revealing corruption. You look down upon him, belittle him, reject him and even sneer at and detest him. What kind of feeling does this give him? You have no love. He sees that you are treating him without love. This is also an expression of satanic disposition. If he reveals satanic disposition, what do you reveal? It is not the truth and it is not something within normal humanity. Therefore, when pursuing to live out the likeness of a human being, you must focus on your own changes. You yourself do not have the truth. You always hope that other people are good and then you will be normal. If other people are not good, you will not be normal. If this is the case, don’t you have the same sickness as everybody else? You are not any better than them! If the other party is not good, how should you treat him so that he feels satisfied? Are you able to help him and treat him sympathetically and with love? “He reveals corruption. I reveal corruption too. I have already believed in God and experienced God’s work for a few years. He has just started to believe. I was the same as him when my faith first began. I was no better than him when I first started to believe!” If you think like this then you will not sneer at or disparage the other party. You will be able to properly deal with him. Now, for the older brothers and sisters who have children, how do you deal with your children? When your children were small, they were very stupid and ignorant. How did you treat them? How is it that you didn’t sneer at them and disparage them? Because you understood them, “Children are all like this….” You can understand them, so you know how to treat them properly and you can treat them with a loving heart. If you are able to understand your children, why is it that you are not able to show a little understanding for your brothers and sisters? This kind of understanding is crucial. You can only properly deal with them if you have such understanding and awareness. You will be able to resolve crises, struggles and conflicts if you can properly deal with them. Additionally, when someone else is revealing their corruption, if you are able to deal with him with love (dealing with people with love involves: patience, tolerance, forgiveness and empathy. These are the practical principles for treating others with love), then as time goes by, how will he treat you? He will see this and think, “Oh no, I have done so many things that have wronged you, yet you are still able to deal with me with love. You truly understand me. You have tolerance and your humanity is good. Not only do you have tolerance, you are a good person and you are kindhearted.” As a result, he feels, “I should really spend more time with such a good person. In the future, I should pursue the truth earnestly. I should not treat you the way that I did in the past. That would be too cruel. That would be betraying the truth and it would not be the likeness of a human being.” Look at the results attained by treating others with love. The other party is able to benefit and your heart will feel enjoyment and gratification. You will feel that it is great to rely on the truth to deal with other people! What people lack is the truth. The truth can be used to conquer people, touch people, subdue people and win people’s admiration. This is the humanity that one must possess.
I have briefly talked about the four criteria for attaining salvation. I’ve done so mainly to make sure that all of God’s chosen people are clear about what exactly the standards are and how many criteria must be met in regard to attaining salvation. This is very crucial. The purpose of this is to let people know clearly about the criteria that are involved with attaining salvation so that they will have a clear path to follow in their hearts. This will prevent them from blindly pursuing. The majority of people are not clear about the matter of attaining salvation. They always think, “Oh no, there are so many truths that I must enter. But my faith is blind. I do not know until which day I would need to believe so that I can be saved. In any case, now I need to understand all of God’s words. I can but do my best. There is no other way.” For these people, the path to salvation seems like it is one of confusion and chaos. They are unable to see it clearly. No matter how they ponder it, they are not able to understand it clearly. Today, I have listed out the four criteria that are necessary for attaining salvation so that you will be clear, feel sure in your hearts, and know how to pursue and have a clear path. Besides, when you are clear about the criteria for attaining salvation, you will know how to accurately examine whether you yourselves have attained salvation. This is also very important.
