319 Man’s Words and Deeds Can’t Evade God’s Burning
Verse 1
Drinking the blood and eating the flesh of unclean spirits
is what God thinks your lives are, since you imitate them daily.
He’s seen your bad behavior; wouldn’t He find you disgusting?
Your words are impure: You coax, flatter, and conceal,
just like the treacherous, those who engage in sorcery,
and those who drink the blood of the unrighteous.
Chorus
God watches all hearts with His own two eyes,
for long before creation, He held their hearts in His hands.
So how could their thoughts escape His view?
Isn’t it too late to escape being burned by His Spirit?
Verse 2
All man’s expressions are unrighteous, so how can they all
be placed in the holy land with the righteous?
Will your despicable behavior distinguish you as holy
compared to those unrighteous ones?
Chorus
God watches all hearts with His own two eyes,
for long before creation, He held their hearts in His hands.
So how could their thoughts escape His view?
Isn’t it too late to escape being burned by His Spirit?
Verse 3
Your serpent-like tongue will ruin your flesh
that wreaks destruction and carries out abominations.
Those hands of yours covered in unclean spirits’ blood
will also pull your soul into hell.
Bridge
Why don’t you leap at the chance to cleanse your filthy hands?
Why not cut out your tongue speaking unrighteous words?
Are you willing to suffer in the flames of hell
for the sake of your hands, tongue, and lips?
Chorus
God watches all hearts with His own two eyes,
for long before creation, He held their hearts in His hands.
So how could their thoughts escape His view?
Isn’t it too late to escape being burned by His Spirit?
