Today for you to pursue to love God and know God, on the one hand, you need the refining of sufferings, and on the other hand, you need to pay a price. Loving God is a deepest lesson. It can be said that the lesson one learns during his whole life of believing in God is loving God. That is to say, since you believe in God, you should love God. If you only believe in God but do not love God, fail to know God, and never love God with a true love from your heart, then you will believe in God in vain. If you believe in God but do not love God, you will live your life in vain, and your life will be a lowest life. If you never love God and never satisfy God in your life, what is the meaning of your living? What is the meaning of your believing in God? Isn’t it in vain? That is to say, for one to believe in God and to love God, he has to pay a price, not pursuing to do anything outwardly but to have a true seeing in the depth of the heart. When singing hymns and dancing, you are very energetic, but when it comes to practicing the truth, you cannot make it. Is this loving God? To love God, you have to seek God’s will in everything. Whatever thing you encounter, you should go deep to strike root and touch God’s will to see what God’s will is in this thing, what God requires you to achieve, and how you should care for God’s will. For example, when you encounter a thing, which requires you to suffer, you should know what God’s will is and how you should care for God’s will. You should not satisfy yourself. Drop yourself first. The flesh is the basest. You should seek to satisfy God, and you should fulfill your duty. When you think this way, God will especially inspire you in this thing, and your heart will be comforted. When you encounter a thing, whether big or small, drop yourself first and consider the flesh as a lowest thing. The more you satisfy the flesh, the more insatiable it will become. If you satisfy it this time, it will still make demands next time. If you always do this, you will love your flesh more. The flesh always has extravagant desires, always wants you to satisfy it, and always wants to have enjoyment within, eating and dressing, or losing temper, or caring for your weaknesses, or being lazy…. The more you satisfy it, the greater its desires will be, and it will become more and more wild, to such an extent that it will have deeper notions, disobey God, and exalt itself, and will even doubt God’s work. The more you satisfy the flesh, the more weaknesses of the flesh you will have, and you will always feel that no one cares for your weaknesses. You will always think that God has gone too far and will even say: Why is God so stern? Why is he never loose with man? If one satisfies the flesh too greatly and loves the flesh too much, he will ruin himself. If you truly love God and do not satisfy the flesh, you will see that what God does is so proper and so good and it is right to curse your disobedience and judge your unrighteousness. Sometimes God chastens and disciplines you or raises up environments to temper you, forcing you to come before him. You always feel that what God does is so good. Thus you feel as if you have not suffered much and feel that God is so lovely. If you care for the weaknesses of the flesh and say that God has gone too far, then you will feel that you are always in suffering and always have sorrows, and you will become hazy about all the work God does, feeling that God seems not to sympathize with man’s weaknesses or know man’s difficulties at all. And you will always feel that you are lonely and desolate, as if you had been greatly wronged. At this point, you will make complaints. The more you care for the weaknesses of the flesh like this, the more you will feel that God has gone too far. In the end, this will become serious to such an extent that you will deny the work God does and begin to resist God, full of disobedient things within. So you must forsake the flesh and should not care for it, having none of such things as husband, wife, children, future, marriage, and family! “I only have God in my heart. I must do my best to satisfy God. I will not satisfy the flesh.” You have to have this resolution. If you always have this resolution, when you try to practice the truth and drop yourself, you will be able to make it by exerting a little effort. It is said that there was a farmer before. On his way, he saw a frozen snake; he picked it up and put it in his bosom. After the snake came to itself, it bit the farmer to death. Man’s flesh is like a snake, which in essence destroys man’s life. When your flesh fully achieves its own ends, it will be the time your life is forfeited. The flesh is of satan, and it always has extravagant desires within, always wants to consider itself, and always desires to enjoy itself and indulge in ease and comfort, being unworried and idle. If you satisfy the flesh to a degree, in the end it will devour you. That is to say, if you satisfy it this time, it will still desire you to satisfy it next time. It always has extravagant desires and always makes new demands. Through the opportunities of your caring for it, it will cause you to love it more and live in fleshly ease. If you always fail to overcome it, in the end you will be ruined. Whether you can gain life before God and what your outcome will be in the end depend on how you practice forsaking the flesh. God has saved you and has chosen and predestined you, but if now you are unwilling to satisfy God, unwilling to practice the truth, and unwilling to forsake your flesh with a heart of truly loving God, in the end you will ruin yourself. Then you will suffer extremely great pain. If you always care for the flesh, gradually satan will devour your inside, and you will not have any life or have any moving of the Spirit. One day, you will be completely dark within. When you live in darkness, satan will take you captive, and you will no longer have God. At that time, you will deny God’s existence and leave God. So, to love God, you have to pay a painful price and have to undergo sufferings. You do not need to be zealous or suffer hardships in any way outwardly, reading more or running around more, but you should drop the things within you: extravagant thoughts, personal interests, self’s plans, notions, and intents. This is God’s will.
To deal with people’s outward disposition is also part of God’s work, such as dealing with their outward abnormal humanity, their ways of living, habits of living, and customs, as well as their outward practices and their zealousness. But when he requires people to practice the truth and have their disposition transformed, he mainly deals with their inward intents and notions. If you only deal with your outward disposition, it will be easy for you to make it. Suppose you love to eat good food. If you are not allowed to eat it, it will be easy for you to do that. But when it comes to your inward notions, it will not be easy to drop them. This requires you to forsake the flesh and requires you to pay a price and undergo sufferings before God. This is especially so with people’s intents. From the time people believed in God until now, they have many wrong intents. When not practicing the truth, you feel that all your intents are right. When you encounter things, you will see that you have many wrong intents within. So, when God perfects people, he will cause them to discover that they have many notions within which hinder them from knowing God. When you realize that your intents are not right, if you can practice not according to your notions or your intents and can bear testimony for God and stand on the ground in everything, this proves that you have forsaken the flesh. When you are forsaking the flesh, there is inevitably a war within you. Satan wants you to follow it and follow the notions of the flesh and safeguard the interests of the flesh, while God’s word inspires and enlightens you within. At this time, it is up to you whether to follow God or follow satan. When God requires people to practice the truth, it is mainly to deal with their inward things, to deal with their thoughts and deal with their notions that are contrary to his will. The Holy Spirit moves people within and operates and works within them. So there is a war behind everything. Every time people practice the truth, every time they practice loving God, it is a great war. It seems that their flesh is at peace, but deep in their heart there is actually a life-and-death war. Only after they go through a fierce war, thinking back and forth, do they finally come out victorious, which makes them truly at a loss whether to cry or to laugh. Because you have many wrong intents within or God does many works that do not fit your notions, every time you practice a truth, there is a great war behind that. When you have practiced this truth, you have shed so many sad tears behind that before you finally make a firm resolve to satisfy God. Because of the war, you suffer and are refined. This is truly undergoing sufferings. When a war comes, if you can truly stand on God’s side, you will be able to satisfy God. When practicing the truth, people will undergo sufferings within. This is a necessary pathway. If when people practice the truth, all their inward things are right, they will not need to be perfected by God, there will be no war, and they will not undergo sufferings. It is because many things within them are not fit for God’s use and they have a lot of fleshly disobedient dispositions that they need to learn more deeply the lesson of forsaking the flesh. Only this has to do with the “suffering” God requires people to undergo with him, which he speaks about. When you encounter some difficulties, pray to God immediately: “God! I’m willing to satisfy you. I’m willing to undergo all the sufferings to the end to satisfy your heart. No matter what great frustrations I encounter, I will satisfy you. Even if I have to give up my life, I will satisfy you!” If you have this resolution and pray in this way, you will be able to stand the testimony. Every time people practice the truth, every time they are refined, every time they are tried, or every time God’s work comes to them, they have to undergo great sufferings. All these are tests for them. So there are wars within everyone. This is paying a price practically. Things like reading God’s word more and running around more are also some price. These are what man should do, are man’s duty, and are the responsibility man should fulfill. But what man is required to drop within, you must drop. If you cannot drop it, no matter how great the sufferings you undergo outwardly and how much you run around, they are in vain! That is to say, only your inward transformation can determine whether the sufferings you undergo outwardly are of value. If your inward disposition is transformed and you can practice the truth, then the sufferings you undergo outwardly will be approved by God. If your inward disposition is not transformed, then no matter how great the sufferings you undergo outwardly and how much you run around, God will not approve. The sufferings one undergoes, if not confirmed by God, are all in vain. So whether your price counts is determined by whether you gain transformation and determined by whether you practice the truth, forsaking your intents and your notions, and thus reach the point where you satisfy God’s heart’s desire, have knowledge of God, and are faithful to God. No matter how much you run around, if you never know to forsake your intents but just pursue to do things outwardly and be zealous outwardly and never pay attention to life, then all your sufferings are in vain. If in an environment you want to say something, but inwardly you feel you cannot, for saying it will not benefit the brothers and sisters but will hurt them, then you should not say it and should rather suffer within, because it cannot satisfy God’s heart’s desire. At this time, there is a war within you, but you are willing to endure the pain to give up what you favor and willing to undergo this suffering to satisfy God; although you are suffering within, you show no care for the flesh and God’s heart is satisfied, and so you are comforted within. This is truly paying a price. What God wants is this price. If you practice this way, God will surely bless you. If you cannot do so, then no matter how much you understand or how well you can speak, it is in vain! On the way of loving God, when satan is warring against God, if you can stand on God’s side and do not turn to satan, this means that you have attained to loving God, and thus you have stood the testimony.
With every step of work God does on people, outwardly it seems to be that people are contacting each other and seems to be of man’s arrangement or of man’s disturbance. But behind every step of work or every thing, satan is making a wager before God, and people are required to stand the testimony for him. For example, when Job was tried, behind it satan was making a wager with God, but what came upon Job were man’s doings and man’s disturbances. With every step of work God does on you, behind it satan is making a wager with God, and behind it there is a war. For example, you have a prejudice against a brother or sister, and you want to say something, but you feel that God is not pleased with it and yet you feel disturbed within. At this time, a war starts within you: To say or not to say? This is a war. So with every thing there is a war. When there is a war within you, through your cooperating practically and undergoing sufferings practically, God will work on you. In the end, you will be able to drop this thing within, and naturally your anger will disappear. This is the result of your cooperating with God. In doing everything, you need to expend some painstaking effort and price. Without undergoing sufferings practically, you cannot satisfy God, you can in no way satisfy God, and you are only shouting empty slogans! Could these empty slogans satisfy God? When satan is warring against God in the spiritual realm, how should you satisfy God? How should you stand the testimony for God? You should know that every time a thing comes, it is a great trial to you, and it is the time God needs you to bear a testimony. Outwardly, it seems to you that they are not big things, but when they come, you will be revealed as to whether you love God. If you love God, you can stand the testimony for God. If you do not practice loving God, it shows that you are not a person who practices the truth and you do not have the truth nor have any life and you are chaff! Every time a person encounters a thing, it is the time God needs him to stand the testimony for him. Although now you have not encountered any big thing and do not have to bear any great testimony, all the details of your daily life have to do with God’s testimony. If you can be admired by the brothers and sisters, admired by your family, and admired by all people around you, and one day when the unbelievers come in, if they admire all your actions and behavior and see that what God has done is really good, this will be a testimony in you. Although you have little insight and are poor in qualities, through God’s perfecting, you can satisfy God and can care for God’s will, and others can see that God has done such a great work on the people who are the poorest in qualities, and that they have known God, have all become overcomers before satan, and are faithful to God to a degree. Then this group of people will be the most backboned men. This will be the greatest testimony. Although you cannot do the great work, you can satisfy God. Others cannot drop notions, but you can. Others cannot testify for God in their practical experience, but you can repay God’s love by your real stature and actual actions, bearing a resounding testimony for God. This is loving God practically. If you cannot achieve this, then you will have no testimony among your family, among the brothers and sisters, or before the world. If you cannot bear testimony before satan, satan will laugh at you, take you as its playgame and its plaything, and often play tricks on you, causing you to lose your mind. Maybe in the future there will be some great trials to come, but if now you can love God with a true heart, then no matter how great the future trials will be and what things will come, you will be able to stand the testimony and satisfy God. Then your heart will be comforted, and you will not be afraid no matter what great trials you will encounter later. The future things you cannot see clearly; all you can do is to satisfy God in the present situation. And you cannot do any great work; you should pay attention to experiencing God’s word in your practical life to satisfy God and bear a strong and resounding testimony, putting satan to shame. Although your flesh is not satisfied and undergoes suffering, you have satisfied God and put satan to shame. If you always practice this way, God will make a way out for you ahead. One day when great trials come, even if others all fall, you will still be able to stand; because of your price, God will keep you standing, not falling. If at ordinary times you can practice the truth and satisfy God with a heart of truly loving God, God will surely keep you in the future trials. Although you are ignorant, small in stature, and poor in qualities, God will not treat you unfairly. This depends on whether your intent is right. If now you can satisfy God, not letting go even in small things but satisfying God in everything, have a heart of truly loving God, and offer up your true heart to God, and though unable to see through some things, you come before God to right your intent and seek God’s will and do everything for the sake of satisfying God, and maybe the brothers and sisters reject you, but your heart is satisfying God and not hankering after fleshly enjoyment, if you always practice like this, you will be kept when great trials come.
What states within people are trials directed at? They are directed at people’s inward disobedient disposition that cannot satisfy God. People have many impurities and many hypocritical elements within. So God has to try them, to purify them by trials. But if now you can satisfy him, the future trials will be a perfection to you. If now you cannot satisfy him, the future trials will be a temptation to you, and you will fall without knowing it. At that time, you will not be able to take control of yourself, because you cannot keep up with God’s work and have no real stature. So, if you want to be able to stand, better satisfy God, and follow God to the end in the future, you must lay a good foundation now, practicing the truth in everything to satisfy God and care for God’s will. If you always practice this way, you will have a foundation within, and God will stir up your love for him and give you faith. One day when trials truly come, you may undergo some sufferings, be sorrowful to a degree, and experience extreme grief, as if you were dead, but your love for God will not change and will even deepen. That will be God’s blessing. If now you can accept all that God says and does with an obedient heart, God will surely bless you. Then you will be one who inherits God’s blessings and promises. But if now you do not practice like this, one day when trials come, your love will be gone, and your faith will be gone. At that time, the trials will become temptations, and you will fall into satan’s temptations and will not be able to break free from them. Now when you encounter small trials, you may still be able to stand. One day when great trials come, you may not be able to stand. Some people are pleased with themselves, thinking that they are almost there. At this point, if you do not go deeper and are even self-satisfied, then you are in danger. Now God does not do the work of greater trials, and you seem to be fine in everything. When God tries you, you will know that you lack too much, because you are too small in stature to withstand any great trial. If now you do not make progress but still stay where you are, you will fall when a strong wind comes. You should always be aware that your stature is small. Only thus can you have growth. If only in trials you see that you are too small in stature, too weak in will, and have too few real things, falling short of God’s will, if you only realize these at that time, it will be too late.
If you do not know God’s disposition, you will surely fall in trials, because you do not know how God perfects man and by what means God perfects man. When God’s trials come to you, which are discordant with your notions, you will not be able to stand. God’s true love is all God’s disposition. When all God’s disposition is revealed to you, what will it bring to your flesh? When God’s righteous disposition is revealed to you, your flesh will surely undergo many sufferings. Without undergoing these sufferings, you cannot be perfected by God, nor can you offer up your true love to God. For God to perfect you, he has to reveal all his disposition to you. From the creation of the world until now, all God’s disposition has never been revealed to man. In the end time, God reveals all his disposition to this group of people predestined and chosen by him, and he reveals his disposition at the time he perfects people, thereby making a group of people complete. This is God’s true love for man. To experience God’s true love for man, one needs to experience extremely great sufferings and pays a high price. Only thus can he eventually be gained by God and finally return his true love to God and can God’s heart be satisfied. If you want to be perfected by God, want to carry out God’s will, and want to offer up your true love to God completely, you have to experience many sufferings and environmental tortures, even to the point of being tormented half dead, so that in the end you will return your true heart to God under compulsion. Whether a person has a true love for God or not is revealed in the refining of sufferings, and God purifies a person’s love also through the refining of sufferings.
