323 People Don’t Treat God as God

Verse 1

Everyone measures everything within their own hearts,

making demands of God which suit their personal aims,

their ambitions, trying to make deals with God.

In his heart, man is always testing God,

calculating what he’ll get from God,

fighting the case for his own outcome,

trying to extract a statement from God

to see if God can give him what he wants.

Chorus

At the same time as pursuing God,

man does not treat God as God.

He has always tried to make deals with God,

making endless demands,

and even pressing Him at every step,

trying to take a mile for every inch given.

Verse 2

At the same time as trying to make deals with God,

man also argues with Him, and even further,

there are those who become weak, passive and slack

in certain situations, or when trials befall them.

They’re then filled with complaints about God.

Since man first began believing in God,

he’s considered Him a cornucopia,

as full of help, as a Swiss Army Knife.

Pre-chorus 1

And man thinks himself to be God’s greatest creditor,

as if trying to get God’s blessings and promises

were his inherent right and also his obligation,

while God’s duty were to protect, provide and care for him.

Such are the basics of “belief in God”

of all those who believe in God.

And such is their deepest understanding

of the idea of having faith.

Chorus

At the same time as pursuing God,

man does not treat God as God.

He has always tried to make deals with God,

making endless demands,

and even pressing Him at every step,

trying to take a mile for every inch given.

Verse 3

From the essence of man’s nature to his personal pursuits,

there is nothing that relates to the fear of God.

And so what is the aim of man’s believing in God?

It has nothing to do with the worship of God,

that’s to say, man has never considered,

and man has never truly understood

the things that belief in God truly requires.

It requires fearing and worshiping God.

Pre-chorus 2

Man’s heart is malicious, harbors treachery and deceit,

does not love fairness and righteousness and positive things.

Further still, man’s heart’s contemptible, so very greedy.

It is hard to see how it could be more closed to God.

Man has not given his heart to God at all.

God has never seen man’s true heart,

nor has He ever been worshiped by man.

He’s never been worshiped by man.

Chorus

At the same time as pursuing God,

man does not treat God as God.

He has always tried to make deals with God,

making endless demands,

and even pressing Him at every step,

trying to take a mile for every inch given.
