The Commandments of the New Age

You have been told to equip yourselves with the words of God, that regardless of what is arranged for you, all is orchestrated by God’s own hand, and that there is no need for your earnest prayer or supplication—they are useless. Yet in terms of the present situation, the practical problems facing you are unimaginable to you. If you merely await the arrangements of God, your progress will be too slow, and for those who don’t know how to experience there will be much passivity. Thus, if you are unable to completely see through to these things, then you are muddled and silly in your experiencing. If you have no reality but only words, is this not a sign of erroneousness? Much erroneousness is visible in you, this group. Today, you’re incapable of achieving such trials as “service-doers,” or else are incapable of imagining or achieving other refinement related to the words of God. You must adhere to the many things you are required to put into practice. Which is to say, people must adhere to the many duties that they should perform. This is what people should adhere to, and what they must carry out. Let the Holy Spirit do what must be done by the Holy Spirit; man can play no part in it. Man should adhere to what ought to be done by man, which bears no relation to the Holy Spirit. It is nothing but that which ought to be done by man, and should be adhered to as commandment, just like adherence to the law of the Old Testament. Although now is not the Age of Law, there are still many words of a kind with the Age of Law that should be adhered to, and they are not carried out merely by relying on being touched by the Holy Spirit, but are what should be adhered to by man. For example: You shall not pass judgment on the work of the practical God. You shall not oppose the man who is testified to by God. Before God, you shall keep your place and shall not be dissolute. You should be moderate in speech, and your words and actions must follow the arrangements of the man testified to by God. You should revere the testimony of God. You shall not ignore the work of God and the words from His mouth. You shall not imitate the tone and aims of God’s utterances. Externally, you shall not do anything that manifestly opposes the man who is testified to by God. And so on. These are what each person should adhere to. In each age, God specifies many rules that are akin to the laws and are to be adhered to by man. Through this, He constrains man’s disposition, and detects his sincerity. Take the words “Honor your father and your mother” of the Old Testament age, for example. These words do not apply today; at the time, they merely constrained some of man’s external disposition, they were used to demonstrate the sincerity of man’s belief in God, and were a mark of those who believed in God. Although now is the Age of Kingdom, there are still many rules that man must adhere to. The rules of the past don’t apply; today, there are many, more fitting practices for man to carry out, and which are necessary. They do not involve the work of the Holy Spirit and must be done by man.

In the Age of Grace, many of the practices of the Age of Law were discarded because these laws were not particularly effective for the work at that time. After they were discarded, many practices were set out that were suitable for the age, and which have become the many rules of today. When the God of today came, these rules were dispensed with, and no longer needed to be adhered to, and there were set out many practices suitable for the work of today. Today, these practices are not rules, but in order to achieve an effect; they are suitable for today—and tomorrow, perhaps, they will become rules. In sum, you should adhere to that which is fruitful for the work of today. Pay no heed to tomorrow: What is done today is for the sake of today. Maybe tomorrow there will be better practices which you will be required to carry out—but do not pay too much attention to that, adhere to that which should be adhered to today so as to avoid opposing God. Today, nothing is more crucial for man to adhere to than the following: You must not deceive or conceal anything from the God that stands before your eyes. You shall not utter filthiness or arrogant talk in front of the God before you. You shall not deceive the God before your eyes by good words and fair speeches in order to gain His trust. You shall not act irreverently before God. You shall obey all that is spoken from the mouth of God, and shall not resist, oppose, or dispute His words. You shall not interpret, as you see fit, the words spoken from the mouth of God. You should guard your tongue to avoid it causing you to fall prey to the deceitful schemes of the wicked. You should guard your footsteps to avoid transgressing the boundaries set out for you by God. Doing so will cause you to speak conceited and pompous words from the perspective of God, and thus become loathed by God. You shall not carelessly repeat the words spoken from the mouth of God, lest others mock you and the devils make a fool of you. You shall obey all of the work of the God of today. Even if you do not understand it, you shall not pass judgment on it; all you can do is seek and fellowship. No person shall transgress God’s original place. You can do nothing more than serve the God of today from the position of man. You cannot teach the God of today from the position of man—to do so is misguided. No one may stand in the place of the man testified to by God; in your words, actions, and inmost thoughts, you stand in the position of man. This is to be abided by, it is the responsibility of man, it is alterable by no one, and doing so would violate the administrative decrees. It should be remembered by all.

The long time that God has spent speaking and uttering has caused man to consider reading and memorizing the words of God to be his primary task. No one pays attention to practice, and even that which you ought to abide by you do not, so this has brought many difficulties and problems to your service. If, prior to practicing the words of God, you have not adhered to that which you should adhere to, then you are one of those who are detested and rejected by God. In adhering to these practices, you should be earnest and sincere. You should not treat them like shackles, but adhere to them as commandments. Today, you ought not to concern yourself with what effects are to be achieved; in short, this is how the Holy Spirit works, and whoever commits offense must die. The Holy Spirit is without emotion, and heedless of your present understanding. If you offend Him today, then He will punish you. If you offend Him within the scope of His jurisdiction, then He will not spare you. He does not care how serious you are in your adherence to the words of Jesus. If you violate God’s commandments of today, He will punish you; He will condemn you to death. How could it be acceptable for you to not adhere to them? You must adhere—even if it means suffering a little pain! No matter what religion, sector, nation, or denomination it is, in the future they must all adhere to these practices. None are exempt, and none will be spared! For they are what the Holy Spirit will do today, and they are unoffendable to all. Although they are no great thing, they must be done by every person, and are the commandments set for man by Jesus, who was resurrected and ascended to heaven. Does “The Path … (7)” not say that Jesus’ definition of whether you are righteous or sinful is according to your attitude toward God today? No one must overlook this point. In the Old Testament, generation after generation of the Pharisees believed in God, but with the arrival of the Age of Grace they did not know Jesus, and opposed Him. So it was that all they did came to nothing, and was in vain, and God did not accept it. If you can see through to this, then you will not easily sin. Many people, perhaps, have measured themselves against God. How does it taste to oppose God, is it bitter or sweet? You should understand this—do not pretend that you don’t know. In their hearts, perhaps, some people remain unconvinced. Yet I advise you to try it and see—see what it tastes like. This will prevent many people from always being suspicious about it. Many people read the words of God yet secretly oppose Him in their hearts. After opposing Him like this, do you not feel like a knife has been twisted in your heart? If it is not family disharmony, it is physical discomfort, or the afflictions of sons and daughters. Although your flesh is spared death, the hand of God will never leave you. Do you think it could be that simple? In particular, it is even more necessary for the many who are near to God to focus on this. As time goes on, you will forget it, and, without realizing it, you will be plunged into temptation, you will become heedless of everything, and this will be the start of your sinning. Does this seem trivial to you? If you can do this well, then you have the chance to be made perfect—to receive the guidance from God’s own mouth before God. If you are careless, it will be trouble for you—you will be defiant of God, your words and actions will be dissolute, and sooner or later you will be carried away by great gales and mighty waves. Every one of you should take note of these commandments. If you violate them, the man who is testified to by God may not condemn you, but the Spirit of God is not finished with you, He will not spare you. Do you think you have what it takes to commit offense? Thus, no matter what God says, you must put His words into practice, and must adhere to them by any means you can. This is no simple matter!

God said: “The long time that God has spent speaking and uttering has caused man to consider reading and memorizing the words of God to be his primary task. No one pays attention to practice, and even that which you ought to abide by you do not, so this has brought many difficulties and problems to your service.” What problem does this passage of God’s words speak of? God has now uttered many words and there are many people who pay attention to reading and memorizing God’s words, who prioritize attending meetings and eating and drinking God’s words. This mentality is right. It is completely correct that God’s chosen people should pay attention to eating and drinking God’s words, but what problem exists in them? God said: “No one pays attention to practice, and even that which you ought to abide by you do not.” “No one pays attention to practice.” That is, they all pay attention to reading God’s words and eating and drinking God’s words but they do not pay attention to practicing the words of God. They also do not abide by that which they ought to. Why do people not pay attention to practicing the words of God? There are two main reasons for it. One reason is that people do not understand or know God’s words and do not have ways to practice them. That is why they do not put them into practice. The other reason is that people do not love the words of God. That is why they do not pay attention to practicing them. It is very normal that people who do not love the truth do not practice the words of God. It is also very natural and inevitable. They do not love the truth, so even if you have fellowshiped about it to the point that they understand it, they still do not practice it. Even if you have told them how to practice it, they still do not practice it. When someone who loves the truth really understands God’s words, they will practice it to varying degrees. What does “they will practice it to varying degrees” mean? It means that they will practice however much they understand of it. However much they can practice of it, they will practice that much. What cannot be put into practice is beyond their capability. That is due to their disobedience. It is because they are not able to conquer their flesh and they have been too deeply corrupted. Aren’t these the practical problems? To what degree people can practice the truth depends on people’s stature. I will give you an example. How do people practice being an honest person? Some people practice what is easy to practice, and when they encounter situations in which it is not easy to practice being an honest person, or in which they will suffer humiliation or personal losses if they practice it, they will not put it into practice. The majority of people are constrained by the flesh when they practice the truth. What is this problem? This proves that people are corrupt! People have corrupt dispositions and flesh and place importance on emotions, status, fame, fortune, face and vanity, so when they practice the truth, they are constrained by these things. People will not be able to practice any truths if they do not rebel against the flesh. Which people can rebel against the flesh? Those who love the truth. If one loves the truth, one can rebel against the flesh and be considerate of God’s will. If one loves the truth, one will not fear personal losses. If one loves the truth, one can put satisfying God first and value it above everything else. So only those who love the truth can practice the truth. Is this the case? Some people do not understand this, saying, “I understand the majority of the truths in God’s words, but why have I failed to put them into practice?” Now is this question easy to answer? What is the problem? These people do not love the truth, so they are unable to practice the truth. Is this the root of the problem? Let me give you an example. Some people say: “I want to love God, but why can I not love Him?” What is this problem? What is the root cause? They do not love the truth. God’s essence is the truth, righteousness and holiness. If you do not love the truth, you do not love righteousness and you do not love holiness, you will be unable to love God even if you want to. Let me ask you: Why can you love the things that you like? Why can you love money? Why can you love some people, your wife (husband) and your children? Why do you love fame and status? Because you like these things. So, if one does not love God, it is because they do not like the truth. What kind of person can truly love God? Those who have some knowledge of God, who have seen that God is the truth, that God is righteous, that God’s words are the truth, and that the disposition expressed by God is the truth, is righteous and is holy. Even if this kind of person cannot understand clearly certain things that they encounter, they do not doubt that God is righteous and holy and that everything God does in man comes from love. So when they encounter something that they cannot understand clearly, they can still love and praise God.

How many words of God people can believe to be the truth and how many truths they can accept and practice is related to the results that they can achieve in their belief in God. Have you achieved any results in believing in God? What do these results refer to? They refer to how much you know of God, how many of God’s words you can practice and how many truths you can practice. Based on your performance in these aspects, whether or not your life disposition has changed, whether or not you have gained life and whether or not you have been perfected are determined. If you have faith and can practice some truths, but these truths that you can practice are too few, this cannot prove your disposition has changed, nor can it prove that you have gained the truth. This means you have not been perfected! Maybe you have just been saved. You can be regarded as having been saved, because you have entered into part of the truth. As you have entered into part of the truth, you can be regarded as having been saved, and you can survive, but that does not mean you have been perfected. What kind of people are people who have been perfected? They are ones who live according to God’s words, as they have understood many truths and are able to practice many truths. This means they have been perfected. Once someone has been perfected, they can bear witness to God, communicate the truth, use the truth to resolve problems, resolve people’s real difficulties according to the words of God, and lead people to follow God and to enter into the reality of the truth. These are the results that those who have been perfected can achieve in doing the work. What must people pay attention to in order to be perfected? They must not only read and memorize the words of God but also practice and experience the words of God. Only by practicing and experiencing the words of God can people understand the truth, receive the work of the Holy Spirit, enter into the reality of the truth and be perfected. If people do not pay attention to putting the words of God into practice, then isn’t this their greatest flaw in belief in God? It is their greatest flaw!

We have seen that some people who believe in God can cast aside everything and suffer some hardships, but they speak too many doctrinal words and do not have much reality. What is this problem? They understand a lot of letters and doctrines, are first rate at preaching and engage in high-sounding but meaningless talk, but they do not have the reality of the truth and cannot convey any real experience or understanding of the truth. This is because they have not put the words of God into practice! If they do not practice the words of God, they will never be able to speak about any real experience or real knowledge of the words of God. If they do not practice and experience the words of God, they will never be able to break away from the bondage of letters and doctrines and will never be able to resolve the problem of speaking doctrinal words. Some people say: “I want to speak about some reality of the truth too. I will immediately put the words of God into practice. Can I achieve this result?” Tell me, can they? What should you do if you have nothing to preach in a meeting? Immediately practice and experience God’s words and you will immediately have something to preach. Some of you say: “Is it this quick?” I tell you: “It is. I assure you it is. If you practice immediately, you will immediately have something to preach. I experienced this. Many years ago I encountered this problem. I immediately practiced the words of God and immediately I had something to preach.” Some people say: “Can it be possible that as soon as I practice the words of God, there will immediately be a way and I will know the words of God and immediately understand the truth? According to what you say, isn’t understanding the truth too simple?” I will tell you this: If you truly practice the words of God, then your heart will live in the presence of God. If your heart lives in the presence of God, what does this show? Inside you there is reverence for God! This reverence shows that you are accepting God’s observation, searching for the truth and obeying God. In this way, as your attitude is right, when you experience and practice the words of God, that does not mean you will immediately understand the truth, but that you will receive the enlightenment and illumination of the Holy Spirit. If you repeatedly ponder and try to figure out this enlightenment and illumination of the Holy Spirit in your heart, you will immediately be enlightened and have the way. At this point, will you not have the words to communicate if you fellowship about the truth? As soon as people hear you speak about your knowledge of your experience of God’s words, whether it is perceptual or rational, your feelings, the enlightenment in your heart and the way of practice, they will immediately be enlightened and have a way. Although you haven’t known or fellowshiped about the truth very thoroughly, what you have felt can bring people edification. It is of benefit and enjoyment to people. Isn’t this how it is? So what should you do if you feel, “Oh, I have nothing to preach. I cannot speak doctrinal words anymore”? Is there a way now? Practice and experience the words of God right away. Through supplication to God, your heart will live in the presence of God. Accept God’s observation and keep a God-revering and obedient heart. Once you practice and experience God’s words like this, you will receive the enlightenment and illumination of the Holy Spirit and then you will have light and knowledge and will be able to find the way and your heart will suddenly see the light. Regardless of the depth of your knowledge of the truth, as soon as you speak out about this kind of feeling of yours, it will edify others. Whether it is deep or shallow, it involves your experience and knowledge. I experienced this before. This way that I speak of may not seem to be too well-founded if scrutinized theoretically, but as soon as you practice it, you will find it absolutely well-founded. Do you understand? Do not scrutinize things theoretically. As soon as you scrutinize things theoretically, there will be some troublesome issues. It is best to confirm it through real experience.

Let us read the following words which God said: “No one pays attention to practice, and even that which you ought to abide by you do not.” “Even that which you ought to abide by you do not.” What does this word mean? What is that which people ought to abide by? At the very least, this refers to the commandments. The commandments must be abided by. Besides the commandments, there are also some important bottom lines for believing in God that cannot be crossed. These bottom lines that cannot be crossed must also be abided by. For example, a believer in God must not steal God’s offerings. That is a great taboo and very serious. Because Judah always stole offerings, he was delivered to Satan by the Holy Spirit. Is this what one ought to abide by? There is another bottom line: If caught by the great red dragon, one cannot do as Judah did. One must pray. No one can pass this test without much prayer. Without much prayer, one will immediately become a Judah if he is caught. If you do not abide by what you ought to, isn’t this in itself dangerous? What is the danger? If all that which you ought to abide by you do not, then do you know God’s disposition? If you have not abided by the commandments and if you have not abided by that which you ought to have, do you deserve to be called a man? Can God like you? Which people disgust God? Which people does God eliminate? Does your not abiding by that which you ought to not have anything to do with this? It does. Some people say: “That which I ought to abide by I have not abided by, so I will abide by it from then on!” Do you think saying this sentence is enough? Is it this simple? If you have crossed the bottom line, God will be disgusted with you and will eliminate you and expose you and the Holy Spirit will not work in you. These are the consequences of not abiding by that which you ought to, which you must bear. Is the problem of not abiding by that which one ought to serious? What are the consequences of this serious problem? This person may be eliminated by God and at the very least, will not have the Holy Spirit’s work. Whether or not they can be saved afterward is not known. Why does God’s family expel the wicked and purge non-believers? The Holy Spirit does not work on them and God does not save them. Keeping them in the church will only bring ruin and is of no benefit. It’s a case of bringing many harms and no benefit. So they must be expelled and purged! They cannot even do service, so what is the use of letting them remain? For example, when there is a fly in the house, what is the use of keeping it in the house? What benefit can this fly flying about in the house bring to people? It will bring much harm and no good. You have to get rid of it or destroy it! Isn’t that the case?

【150-B-3】

Some people say: “God promulgated these commandments; can people abide by them by themselves? If people do not have the truth and have not been perfected, who can abide by the commandments? No one can.” Some other people then ask: “Since people cannot abide by them, why did God promulgate them?” Why did God promulgate them? Shouldn’t we ponder this matter? It is significant, so we must ponder it. What can be achieved by abiding by the commandments? In the Age of Law, God promulgated the law. What was this to achieve? After God promulgated the law, the Israelites memorized the law and engraved it in their hearts but in the end, no one could abide by it. When the Age of Grace arrived, the Lord Jesus was crucified for mankind, accomplishing His work of redeeming mankind, so that He fulfilled the law. Since the Lord Jesus was to become the sin offering, why did God promulgate the law in the Old Testament age? Some people say: “Was God’s work not a self-contradiction? Since God knew that the Israelites couldn’t abide by the law, why did He not do redemption work directly? If He had not done the work of the Age of Law at all, would that not have been good enough?” Have you pondered this? What does it mean to know God’s work? It means to know what significance God’s working this way holds and why God works this way. Can you practice the truth if you do not figure out these things? Can you abide by the commandments? You must first seek the truth. What results did the Israelites achieve by abiding by the commandments for thousands of years? The law enabled people to know their sins. This is the simplest thing and is what people could achieve. What else? Could the law enable people to grasp God’s will and understand God’s will? The law enabled people to know what God required of mankind. It enabled people to understand God’s will and to at least understand how they should behave and what they should achieve as human beings. No matter whether or not people could, in reality, do this, at least they came to understand God’s will, what God required of people, what they should do and what they should achieve. Should people not achieve all of these results? What are the other results that God wanted to achieve through promulgating the commandments? If we truly try to abide by the commandments and do our best to do so, even if we fail to abide by some of the commandments, what will be achieved in the end? At least we will know that we are so rebellious and do not revere God; at least we will know how arrogant we are, how rebellious we can be against God, how deeply we have been corrupted, what our attitude is toward the practical God, what corrupt dispositions we possess and that these corrupt dispositions are toxins of Satan; and at least we will know how far we corrupt human beings are from meeting God’s requirements. Isn’t this the case? And most importantly, what will God fulfill in the end through promulgating the commandments? How can one achieve reverence for God? How can one achieve obedience to God? Do God’s requirements not represent God’s disposition? From God’s requirements, we can know God’s disposition, God’s essence, and God’s holiness, righteousness and unoffendableness. Even if we cannot meet God’s requirements, we can come to know God, see through man’s corrupt essence and know that we human beings have been so deeply corrupted that we cannot even abide by that which we at least ought to. In this way, we will know ourselves and what we are. Isn’t this the case? Can the results God wished to achieve be achieved even if people cannot keep the commandments God has promulgated? The results can be achieved by those who are in pursuit of the truth, but cannot be achieved by those who are not in pursuit of the truth. Do you understand? Now measure yourself. Have you achieved these results yourself? After measuring yourself, what problems can you know you have? Have you not been deeply corrupted? Do you not have Satan’s disposition within you? Are you not of Satan? Do you have a God-revering heart? Are you obedient to God? Won’t you understand all of these problems? You will. Isn’t this the significance of God promulgating the commandments? God promulgated the commandments to achieve this result, not to condemn you. Most importantly, God did so in order to perfect you from the positive aspects and enable you to know how deeply you have been corrupted, to know yourself well, to know how much you are controlled by Satan’s disposition and nature and to see your true face and stature. In this way, if you truly know yourself and know what you lack, you will know what you should pursue and pay attention to and how to believe in God—you will have ways and objectives. Is that not right? Those who seek the truth can understand these things clearly. Is that not so?

Haven’t you understood the significance of abiding by the commandments that you ought to abide by? You must make every effort to abide by them. Why must you abide by them? What does one feel in one’s heart when abiding by God’s commandments? One has peace of mind and feels free of anxiety. Furthermore, one feels joy and comfort. Abiding by God’s commandments brings us a kind of confidence: “I am someone who listens to God. I abide by the words of God and God’s requirements. I am someone who lives in the presence of God. I have a normal relationship with God.” This is a sign. What does it indicate? It indicates that in the presence of God we can do things in accordance with the words of God and can meet God’s requirements. Abiding by God’s commandments is our duty and obligation and is what we should do as human beings. It proves that we have some reason and conscience in the presence of God. This is a testimony. If you do not abide by any of God’s requirements or commandments, nor do you pay attention to them, then what kind of person are you? You do not have a place for God in your heart and do not hold God in reverence, and you have not taken God’s words seriously or treated God as God. This is a serious problem. Does this kind of person truly believe in God? Is this kind of person experiencing the work of God? This must all be questioned. Even if others do not call this into question, you yourself will doubt whether or not you are experiencing God’s work.

Let us continue reading the words of God. “And even that which you ought to abide by you do not, so this has brought many difficulties and problems to your service.” “This has brought many difficulties and problems to your service.” This word is directed at leaders and workers, those who have God’s commission. You have not abided by the commandments that you ought to have, so how are you qualified to be a leader or worker? How are you qualified to preach to people? How are you qualified to communicate the truth to people? It makes people question and doubt you. Has this not brought many problems to your service? What is the greatest problem that it has brought to your service and to your performance of your duties? That is, when people question and doubt you, your work will get difficult. No matter what you say, it is no use. People doubt you and do not believe you. They do not even accept your leadership. Yet you still continue. Are you not a little impudent and shameless? When you stand in the room, no one applauds. Everyone looks at you suspiciously. They even have the look of expulsion in their eyes. Tell me, are you still qualified to stand there and speak? You are not qualified. How do you feel inside? Troubled and uneasy. There are some leaders and workers whom God’s chosen people will not accept, no matter what they preach. God’s chosen people can differentiate: “Is what you are preaching not empty words? Is it not doctrines? You can even say such obvious doctrines out loud, so do you have sense?” People are doubtful. If you are a wise person, you will quickly say, “What I just said was all doctrines. I too know that I do not have much reality, but I am trying hard.” God’s chosen people will not let you get away with just these two sentences, saying, “If you are trying hard, why do you still spout doctrines? When you try hard, you should speak some words of reality, some words from the heart. Why is your heart so closed? Why do you not open your heart and tell us something from the heart? Your heart being so closed shows that you are deceitful, pretending and pulling the wool over our eyes. You are a hypocritical Pharisee and are not qualified to communicate the truth to us.” Is this not problematic? The word that God spoke, “This has brought many difficulties and problems to your service” refers to this. When people do not listen to you, you are finished. If you are a wise man, you would hastily write a letter of resignation and say to God’s chosen people: “Now I am not worthy of being a leader (or worker). As soon as I saw your attitude toward me, I was too ashamed to preach. I am not worthy of preaching either. I do not have the reality of the truth and am not worthy of fellowshiping about the words of God. If a hypocritical person like me fellowships about the words of God then that is a manifestation of blaspheming God and is being disrespectful to God.” “This has brought many difficulties and problems.” Is it clear now what difficulties and problems it brings? What should you do if you do not want this to bring problems to your service? Lose no time in abiding by the commandments. By doing so, you can say, “I cannot practice the truth, but at least I am abiding by the commandments. I am abiding by all that God requires me to.” Based on this, God’s chosen people will question what you say much less next time you speak. God’s chosen people will say: “This person is okay and is at least better than us. We have not yet abided by the commandments but this person has. This person is qualified to be a leader or a worker.” Furthermore, what kind of person is someone who abides by the commandments in the eyes of God? They are a person who is in pursuit of the truth and is considerate of God’s will. It shows that they take the words of God seriously and have a place for God in their heart! How about people who do not abide by the commandments? They are definitely not God-fearing people and definitely do not have a place for God in their hearts or treat God as God. The main manifestation of not treating God as God is not taking the words of God as the truth to obey and practice. Do you understand? Only people who abide by the commandments have a place for God in their hearts and treat God as God. Abiding by the commandments proves that they have a God-fearing heart. Whether or not you can abide by God’s commandments really tells something and reveals you.

【150-B-4】

Let us continue to read. God said: “If, prior to practicing the words of God, you have not adhered to that which you should adhere to, then you are one of those who are detested and rejected by God.” These words are serious. From God’s perspective, no matter how you practice the words of God, what is the first thing that God sees? It is whether or not you have abided by the commandments and whether or not you have adhered to that which you ought to. People who have not adhered to that which they ought to are loathed by God. In the past, it was said that to know God’s disposition, we have to know which people God detests and which people He blesses, which people God loves and which people He hates. This is the minimum that we need to know in order to understand God’s disposition. God said, “Then you are one of those who are detested and rejected by God.” Which people are detested and rejected by God? There is at least one type of people who are detested and rejected by God, and they are those who do not adhere to what they ought to. No matter how they practice the truth, as they do not adhere to that which they ought to, they are detested and rejected by God. Some people ask: “Why are they detested and rejected by God for not adhering to that which they ought to?” Unbelievers often say, “What kind of people are we to befriend? People who have the bottom line for being a person. We do not befriend those who do not have the bottom line for being a person. They do not have principles for their conduct and they do anything, so we do not befriend such people.” One often hears some people say, “I have the bottom line for being a person.” Saying they have the bottom line for being a person shows that they have good sense, have principles when befriending people, have the bottom line for their actions, and have principles in what not to do and what they must do. Amongst unbelievers, such people are the better ones. So what kinds of people do not have the bottom line for being a person? Unreasonable people, rogues, wicked people and demons do not have it. Can it be said that all those who do not have the bottom line for being a person are definitely not good people? They are definitely not good people. Are people who do not adhere to anything that they ought to with regard to believing in God good people? They are certainly not good people. Do they have the bottom line for being a person? As they do not have the bottom line for being a person or adhere to that which they ought to, they are finished and unworthy of being called men. Does saying that such people are brutes and hooligans count as cursing them? It does not count as cursing them. The words are not pleasant but they are based on facts. If you do not adhere to that which you ought to, you are detested and rejected by God. What is the consequence of being detested and rejected by God? Being bound to be eliminated! Once people are detested and rejected by God, this proves that they are eliminated. As you see, God will not necessarily detest and reject people who do not adhere to what they ought to and who have committed some transgressions during the period in which they are experiencing God’s work. When God sees such a person, if He says, “He stood up and then fell down, and after he stood up again, he fell down another time, but he is still trying to stand up,” He will still give this person a chance. God does not reach a verdict about him whilst he is trying hard to experience God’s work. As God does not reach a verdict about him, he is not detested and rejected by God. If in the end he gives up and does not adhere to what he ought to, God will give him a deadline, but if he is never awakened, he will be detested and rejected by God. For example, God’s family arranges for a person to do some duty but he does not do it well, so a leader or worker deals with and criticizes him. After being criticized, he does not change and is still slipshod in his work, so they continue to deal with him and warn him, but this is of no use either. At that time, he says the right things, “I am willing to repent and change and will not behave like this again,” but after a period of time, he is back to his old ways and making errors again. Although a person like him will not be expelled, he is not permitted to do his duty anymore. He is not qualified even to do service. Let him believe in God however he wishes to. He is not allowed to do his duty anymore, as he does not adhere to that which he ought to. When God’s family gives someone an assignment, “Go and do this,” if he sees that this activity will dirty his hands and is tiring, and he says, “I do not want to do this, I want to do that,” what kind of person is this? Is he truly obedient? You are not even able to adhere to what you ought to adhere to. Why are you being picky? If everyone can see you have certain strengths and are well-suited to doing something, and so arrange for you to do something, then why are you being picky? If you have a special skill then that is okay. If someone arranges for you to clean the bathroom, you may say: “How have you not realized that I can preach, I can work and I can use the truth to resolve problems?” If they say, “I did not realize. I did not see you use the truth to resolve problems,” you may say, “You did not give me a chance. If you give me a chance, you will see whether or not I can use the truth to resolve problems.” And they will say, “If you really can do so, then I will give you a chance now. You recommend yourself, so tell me, what duty can you do? I will give you a chance.” If given a chance, you do not do well, then you will be detested and rejected by God. Is that not the case?

Now, aren’t all those who do not perform their duties up to standard in danger? They are in danger. What does it show that they do not perform their duties up to standard? It shows that they do not abide by that which they ought to. It mainly shows this. Some do not abide by one commandment and some do not adhere to a principle on an important matter. At the very least you must adhere to whatever duty you ought to do; if you do not do your duty then you do not adhere to anything and are an utter failure! If when you do any of your duties, you do it in a perfunctory manner or you cause disruption or disturbance, can you be said to have not adhered to that which you ought to? That is exactly so. You have not adhered to that which you ought to. If you cannot do whatever you do well and whatever you eat, you are greedy, then you are finished. You are not a human being and are not worthy of being called a human being. You are a beast in human form, a good-for-nothing wretch! You are utterly harmful and useless. Whatever you do, you cannot do it properly and whatever you eat, you are gluttonous and much more so when you eat meat. No gluttonous eater of meat is good. You cannot abide by eating less meat. If asked to do some exercise, you cannot adhere to this. What can you adhere to? Can you abide by the commandments? Can you adhere to your duty? Can you adhere to the principles and the bottom line for being a person? You are deceiving people if you say you can. There are some things that you must understand clearly about the bottom line for being a person. One must adhere to that which one ought to. If you cannot adhere to these things, can you abide by the commandments? Can you abide by the commandments as God’s will? Can you abide by the commandments as the truth and the words of God? If you cannot abide by the bottom line for being a person, what else can you abide by?

Next, God said, “In adhering to these practices, you should be earnest and sincere. You should not treat them like shackles, but adhere to them as commandments.” Treating abiding by the commandments as wearing shackles is not right. So how can one abide by the commandments? One must be earnest and sincere and try to grasp God’s will. In addition, one must know the significance of abiding by the commandments and why one must abide by them. When people abide by the commandments, what are they attempting? They think, “I’ll see whether or not I have the aspirations to abide by the commandments, and whether or not I can listen to the words of God and practice a word of God. I’ll see whether or not I can adhere to that which man ought to, whether or not I can adhere to the bottom line for being a person and whether or not I have this personality and rationality.” This is one way of testing whether or not one has humanity. This is significant. After you have this understanding: “If I cannot even abide by these commandments, then I must be deeply corrupted, I must be showing consideration for the flesh, I must not be accepting the truth and I must not be obedient to God in my heart,” when you try to abide by the commandments again, you will be able to earnestly and sincerely abide by them, make every effort to abide by them, and abide by them truly and wholeheartedly, by relying on God and asking God to observe you, and with a heart obedient to God. In this way, you will be able to abide by them. Supposing you momentarily develop some notions when faced with some issue which you take to heart and thereby misunderstand God and wish to judge and shun God, what should you do? Hasten to come before God in prayer, try to touch God’s will and commune with God. After you pray to God about your real state, you will feel, “Oh, how have I come to understand this after the prayer? How have I become enlightened? Before praying, I was full of doubt and notions. After praying, I have not seen how the Holy Spirit has worked in me, but how have I suddenly attained enlightenment? How have I seen that my state was not right? How have I seen my disobedience? How have I seen that I had no sense? How have I come to know that I did not show consideration for God’s will?” You will gain insight into all of these matters. Why can prayer cause such big changes in you? It is because you can come before God and God will treat you with kindness. God says, “This person really abides by the commandments. You see, when he faces difficulties, he knows to depend on God and to pray to God.” This is God’s will. No matter what difficulties you face, God will treat you kindly and will enlighten and illuminate you to understand. This proves that you are devoutly abiding by the commandments. When you devoutly abide by the commandments, your heart will be touched by the Holy Spirit and you will feel that God is so lovable. “I cannot disobey God. I must respect God and treat Him as God. I am one of corrupt mankind. I am so wretched. O God, please discipline me. I must definitely abide by Your words. If I do not abide by Your words I am not a man and am unworthy of living in Your presence and believing in You.” By making such a prayer you will receive God’s blessing. The commandments are abided by in this way. We cannot abide by them on our own, but can by depending upon God. Is this not the case? Before one encounters any problems, one thinks, “I can abide by the commandments! This is easy. I am someone who is obedient to God. I do not even commit general sins, so I will certainly be able to abide by the commandments!” It is to be feared that you will not easily abide by them when you encounter some problems and have notions. It is to be feared that you, when encountering some problems, will complain about God, as you cannot see through them. There are some matters that have a terrible background and when you encounter them, they will make you have some notions! For example, some people’s family members become ill when they have just started believing in Almighty God, and some encounter a disaster when they have just accepted Almighty God. Will these people not be weak when facing such problems? Will they not develop notions and doubts? It is quite natural that they will. It is the devil that is trying to pull you back through those problems. The devil will not let you go! What this means is that when you want to return to God, the devil tries to create obstacles to pull you back. So you must do battle with Satan, pray to God, and depend upon God. After you have prayed to God, when you can see through those problems in your heart by relying on God, you will be able to stand firm. When you stand firm, everything will immediately be peaceful around you, just as suddenly all was calm when the Lord Jesus rebuked the wind and waves. The perils will be turned into safety! If you do not pray to God, can you abide by the commandments based on your will? You cannot. When can people violate the commandments? Under what circumstances can they break the commandments? You all know this, right? Is it not true that usually when all is well, people do not violate the commandments? Usually when they see the commandments, they say, “These are easy to abide by. They are so plain; are they not easy to abide by? This is a simple matter. It does not cost a cent to practice it, nor does one have to suffer at all to practice it. Anyone can abide by them.” It is to be feared that they, when faced with a problem, will have notions about God, or that Satan will come to tempt them, or that they will be faced with a disaster or trial; if so, they will be finished. They will misunderstand God and complain about God. Suppose you say: “I believe in Almighty God,” and others ask you: “Do you really believe in Him?” If you say, “I really believe in Him!” they will say, “If Satan comes to deceive you, can you reject it?” If you say, “I can! What will it deceive me by?” they may say, “Can you refute the great red dragon when it brainwashes you after seizing you?” Hearing that, you will be dumbfounded, as you cannot refute it, and then you may say, “Then I will not listen!” Even if you do not want to listen, can you block your ears? After you have listened, if you do not wish to make your position known, is it okay? What would you do under such situations as people using electric batons to take care of you and all kinds of apparatus of torture awaiting you? You will have no way when faced with such situations. You say you believe in God. Do you think that you can prove it by merely saying “I believe in God” with your mouth? Many things are needed to demonstrate this. You have to demonstrate this in trials and you must convince the devil Satan of this. Only then can you be said to truly believe in God. Job had revered God and shunned evil for many years, yet Satan was not convinced of that. So, God handed Job over to Satan, allowing it to tempt him while telling it to spare his life. God set a limit for it. Thus, Job faced the trials when he had believed in God for many years. Does it work if people just say that they believe in God? Based on what does God acknowledge you as His believer? Based on your conduct. If there is an accusation from Satan, then God will hand you over to Satan and allow Satan to tempt you, and you will have to bear a testimony. If you cannot humiliate Satan with your testimony, then God will not approve of you. So, with regard to your belief in God, God does not only go by what you say. If you speak elaborately, He will not listen to a word. God wants you to prove it with facts and will only express His approval upon seeing the facts.

Let us continue to read the words of God. God said: “Today, you ought not to concern yourself with what effects are to be achieved; in short, this is how the Holy Spirit works, and whoever commits offense must die.” Do not concern yourself with what effects are to be achieved by acting this way, just bother about abiding by the commandments according to the words of God and praying to God when you encounter problems and that is fine. If you do not do this, you will commit offense and have to die. Some people say: “There are a lot of people who have committed offenses but who have not died. God said that defiance means death, but some people have died and some have not.” Do you dare to say that those people who have not died, who live, have all really not died? Do you mean to say that dying only refers to the death of the flesh here? Some people’s flesh is already sentenced to death, but they have not yet died. What does “Some people’s flesh is already sentenced to death” mean? It means that God has already condemned them. They are dead people. They have not died but they are, in fact, already dead. How do you explain that today everyone in the whole world is breathing, but God says that all these people are dead people? Can you tell God that these people have not died but are still breathing? God would say that they are dead people though breathing. To you, one day is twenty-four hours long. To God, one day is like a thousand years and a thousand years is like one day; this matter has already passed, and these people are all dead people. In the eyes of man, they may die tomorrow, die next year, or die in a few years. In the eyes of God, they died long ago. Is this not the case? So the words of God cannot be explained based solely on people’s notions. I’ll give you an example. There are some people who are too promiscuous and who have been so with tens of people. Tell me, will God save such people? God will not save them. This kind of person has not died; they are still living. Tell me, in God’s eyes, is this kind of person whom God has determined not to save living or dead? In private, some people have committed much evil and done many things opposing God, and they also oppose God in their mind and thoughts. As they do not repent nor amend their ways, God treats them as dead people. No attention is paid to them and they are laid aside. From all appearances, it looks like their flesh is not dead, but their souls have already died. God has determined not to save them. Such people are finished. For example, some people are possessed by evil spirits despite doing their duty. What is going on here? God has determined not to save them and has handed them over to Satan. Despite doing their duty, some people got cancer and died. How could this be? God terminated their flesh. Some people do not have the Holy Spirit’s work, despite doing their duty. No matter how they listen to the sermons, they do not understand the truth. No matter how they pray, they do not have the Holy Spirit’s work, nor do they have God with them. They cannot feel what they felt before. Why is this? God has laid them aside, ignoring them and throwing them to one side, and He will dispose of them when disasters arrive. The Holy Spirit forsakes some people, despite them doing their duty. Why is this? You should understand all of these things. What is the result of being detested and rejected by God? Do not think, “I have no illness and I have not been expelled.” God searches people’s hearts. God’s family not expelling you does not mean that all that you do is after God’s heart. Not having done evil externally does not mean you have not opposed God in your heart. Some people suddenly got ill and died. Before they faced death, they said, “I have opposed God.” They just said that sentence. Before they had the time to say how they had opposed God they died. How could that be? People do not know those things. God searches the minds and hearts. God knows. God said: “The Holy Spirit is without emotion, and heedless of your present understanding. You must adhere—even if it means suffering a little pain!” That’s what this means. Some people are condemned because the Holy Spirit has exposed them for other people to see, and they need to be handled by God’s family, but there are some people who do not appear to have done any great evil from the outside and God’s family cannot handle them according to principles and stipulations. However, they have offended the Holy Spirit, so the Holy Spirit will punish them directly. That is why some people have an accident, despite doing their duty, some people get cancer despite doing their duty and some people die, despite doing their duty. It is needless to say that they have certainly offended God. Other people have not seen it, as they may have appeared very good, and have not done anything obviously evil, but God knows it!

God said: “No matter what religion, sector, nation, or denomination it is, in the future they must all adhere to these practices. None are exempt, and none will be spared!” In the future, no matter what nation, denomination, religion, or sector it is, they must all abide by the commandments of the new age. Why must they abide by them? In the future, the whole of mankind shall be conquered through God’s work and through the disasters. Will the whole of humanity not submit when they encounter the disasters? What reaction will they have? “Oh, there really is a God! Oh, there really is an end of the world! Oh, God is real!” Will they not submit? When they say this, it means they submit. Or some will cry, “God, I did not believe in You before, spare me!” Is this not submission? When mankind sees the disasters, they will cry, weeping and gnashing their teeth. When they see God appear and see that God is Almighty God, people of various religions and denominations and all other people will mourn and will all be well-behaved. At that time, will they not return to God? When the people of all religions and denominations have returned to God, should they not abide by God’s commandments? All people must abide by them. It does not matter when you return to God, you must abide by the commandments. You cannot not abide by them. You must abide by the commandments if you return to God before the disasters; you also must abide by the commandments if you return to God during the disasters; and you must abide by the commandments even more so, if you return to God after the disasters. This is an administrative decree of the kingdom promulgated by God. All of humanity must abide by the commandments of the Age of Kingdom. God said: “None are exempt, and none will be spared!” “None will be spared!” What does this mean? Whoever violates them shall be punished. God is without emotion.

God said: “For they are what the Holy Spirit will do today, and they are unoffendable to all. Although they are no great thing, they must be done by every person, and are the commandments set for man by Jesus, who was resurrected and ascended to heaven.” Isn’t it that you have refused to accept Almighty God? Isn’t it that you believe in Jesus? God said: “They … are the commandments set for man by Jesus, who was resurrected and ascended to heaven.” So do you abide by them or not? Suppose you say, “I did not see. I think they were promulgated by Almighty God.” Okay, one day when the kingdom of heaven has been realized and Almighty God says, “I am Jesus, who was resurrected and ascended to heaven,” then you shall be condemned. God told you that before, but why did you not believe? As you did not believe, you will have to die and will have to be condemned. You will have to die because you did not believe the words of God. People can choose not to believe the words of other people. If you say to the CCP, “I do not believe what you say. What can you do to me? I will not listen to you, the CCP. You are the devil. What can you do to me? I am in God’s hands,” it is fine. The words of God must be treated differently; if God has said something and you do not believe, then you shall take responsibility for the consequences. For example, In the age of Noah, Noah conveyed the words of God and whatever God said to Noah, Noah said to other people. Other people said: “Why should we believe you? You say that God said this, but who saw it? We will not believe unless God personally speaks to us.” Tell me, in that age, were there many people who spoke so? There were certainly many people who spoke so and rebutted what Noah said in this way. Many years later, after Noah finished building the ark, the flood came. Even when the flood came, those people still did not believe what Noah had said. So when did they believe it? Only after the heavy rain had not stopped for many days and all the villages had been flooded did they think of what Noah had said and say, “Oh! I know now those words were true!” When they saw the facts, they thought of the words of God and realized that they were true. Was it not too late? It was already too late. Just as the unbelievers often say that medicine to soothe regret cannot be bought anywhere, so they had to die! God has now spoken these words and whether you believe or not, God’s words are written here and God’s family fellowships about them in this way. If you do not believe, you can wait. If you do not believe then no one can help that. There are many people of the various religions and denominations who say: “We do not accept Almighty God!” Your non-acceptance has nothing to do with me. I shall continuously bear witness to Him. We just care about bearing witness to God, not about whether or not people accept Him. After we have finished bearing witness to God, if you do not accept Him, God will handle you. God will punish you with disasters. Does God fear that mankind may not accept Him? No one can stand in the way of what God wishes to accomplish. Is that not the case? The words of God have been spoken and if you do not listen, you will have to die. It is as simple as that. Most importantly, these words are very crucial: “They … are the commandments set for man by Jesus, who was resurrected and ascended to heaven.” Here God added a sentence especially. This is God’s mercy. Knowing that you might not believe the words of Almighty God, God added the words: “They … are the commandments set for man by Jesus, who was resurrected and ascended to heaven.” This sentence tells people that the commandments were set by the Lord Jesus, so will you not abide by them? If you say, “I did not see that it was the Lord Jesus who set them, so I will not abide by them,” then the Holy Spirit will say no more, and He will not say, “If you do not abide by them, you will be handled one day and you will have to die.” He just said, “They … are the commandments set for man by Jesus, who was resurrected and ascended to heaven,” and that’s it. God did not say a word more to you. It is your choice to listen or not. If you do not listen then you will die. So when God says something, it is done, which cannot be changed by anyone. No matter whether He says a few or many words, if you do not listen then you are done for. If you commit an offense then you will die. Do you understand?

【150-B-6】

God said: “Does ‘The Path … (7)’ not say that Jesus’ definition of whether you are righteous or sinful is according to your attitude toward God today? No one must overlook this point.” According to what is the Lord Jesus’ definition of whether you are righteous or sinful? According to your attitude toward God today. Your attitude toward God today is so important that it is related to your outcome! If you do not listen to nor treat the words God has spoken today as the words of God then your outcome will be one of death. That is how it is. Today many people from the various religions and denominations cannot recognize God’s voice. They listen to negative propaganda and check for it online. They listen to the slander of the great red dragon, the devil, and check Wikipedia. What truth is on Wikipedia? Those are the opinions of unbelievers. The Holy Spirit’s work is not there. The man whom God uses does not advocate what is on there. That is a place for unbelievers to speak. What is the use of investigating on there? If you want to investigate the work of God then read God’s words. Whether or not you accept the words of God reveals your attitude toward God. This is what God observes. The words of God are all on the internet. The words of God are on God’s family’s website. After you have read them, if you do not accept them, God will condemn you, whether you base this on Wikipedia or what the great red dragon says. God acts on the basis of the attitude that you have after having read the words of God. If you do not believe you will die. If you accept God’s words, saying, “This is the voice of God. I will obey God’s work and accept God’s judgment and chastisement,” then God will be gracious to you. That’s how it is. It is that simple. Some people say: “Why does God’s family not contact somebody and have the negative propaganda moved from Wikipedia? Why does God’s family not make contact with and appeal to the judges of the world and take the great red dragon to court? Why does God’s family not do this?” Does it make sense to do so? What did God do in Noah’s time? He asked Noah to convey His words. He left the choice whether to believe with other people; if they did not believe, they would die. God would not appear to them, nor would He speak to them. He just asked Noah to convey the message. This was determined by God. What God determined came true. Can you overturn it? Are you greater than God? Some people say: “Why does God’s family not take them to court?” What do I think? God did not give me that authority, nor did He instruct me to do so. Like Noah, I will bear witness to God and that is all. That is my duty. When I have finished bearing witness to God, I will have done my duty, I will have done everything necessary, and I will have said all that I should. If you do not listen, then who will be to blame? What can I do? It is nothing to do with me, as I have done my duty. Isn’t this the case? So whether you believe or not—your attitude toward God today—is your own business and nothing to do with anyone else. Even if the whole world does not believe, what of it? What does it have to do with us if they are disobedient and willing to die and choose death? If we do our duty with love then that is it, is it not? You can see that today as we make movies and websites and continuously bear witness to God, there really are some people who seek, and once they see this, they say these words: “Great, this is the truth, it is right!” And they just say, “That’s right. Okay, there is the truth here,” but they do not accept it. So they will still die. As they do not accept the truth, they say those words in vain. Is that not the case?

Let us continue with our fellowship about God’s words. “Does ‘The Path … (7)’ not say that Jesus’ definition of whether you are righteous or sinful is according to your attitude toward God today? No one must overlook this point.” See this clearly and do not overlook it. If your attitude toward God today is not correct and you oppose and condemn Him then you will face certain death. If your attitude toward God yesterday and the day before was pretty good and if it is only not good toward God today then you will face certain death. The God of yesterday and the day before will not save you. Do you know why the God of yesterday and the day before will not save you? The God of yesterday and the day before is today’s God. If you listened to the words of yesterday and the day before’s God but do not listen to the words of today’s God, then you will still be condemned. Do you understand? God said: “In the Old Testament, generation after generation of the Pharisees believed in God, but with the arrival of the Age of Grace they did not know Jesus, and opposed Him. So it was that all they did came to nothing, and was in vain, and God did not accept it.” “All they did came to nothing, and was in vain.” This is a severe word! No matter how many years or for how many generations they had believed in Jehovah, if they did not accept the Lord Jesus, then all that they had done before would come to nothing and be in vain, and God would not accept it. So after the Israelites crucified the Lord Jesus, they were subjected to the destruction of their nation, and those Jewish leaders were also reduced to slaves in other nations, working for them like beasts of burden. Haven’t God’s attitude and words been confirmed? The word “It was that all they did came to nothing, and was in vain” has been confirmed. These words of God can be verified by what He has done. God said, “If you can see through to this, then you will not easily sin.” Once you see through to this, you will take everything that today’s God has said seriously and will be able to abide by the commandments. You will say, “I must not offend God’s disposition.” You will have the will to abide by them and will feel that you must abide by them, that you have to abide by them and if you do not, you will die. In this way, you will not easily sin. Is that not right?

Continuing on, God then said: “Many people, perhaps, have measured themselves against God. How does it taste to oppose God, is it bitter or sweet?” Is it not the case that everyone is clear about it in their heart? Before, I did not know God and also measured myself against God. I know what I finally suffered. When God began to reveal Himself and work, I was a leader and I treated God as an ordinary person. I thought that this person had received the Holy Spirit’s enlightenment and that I must entrust this person with an important position. I spoke of the words God uttered as the utterances of the Holy Spirit, the utterances of the seven Spirits, and I had them printed as books. I treated God like this at that time. I was blind and did not recognize God. After God had fellowshiped the truth concerning God become flesh, I was stunned. What did I think then? “So I am finished. Why did I offend God? Now I am finished.” That was what I thought. But God has mercy on those who accept Him. I confessed my sins and repented before God and God listened to my prayer. Afterward, the Holy Spirit still worked in me and led me as before. That was how I experienced it. God said: “How does it taste to oppose God, is it bitter or sweet? You should understand this—do not pretend that you don’t know.” Could it be said that all those who have believed in God for many years have somewhat experienced it? My experience of it is quite deep. Do you have experienced it too? Everyone has experienced it, so let’s say it no more.

Let us continue to read the words of God: “In their hearts, perhaps, some people remain unconvinced. Yet I advise you to try it and see—see what it tastes like.” Do you see how God advised people? God said that if you are not convinced, try it and see. God did not say, “You have to submit. It will not do for you not to submit. You have to be well-behaved. A wise man knows when to retreat.” God did not advise people like this. God said to give it a try if you remain unconvinced. Do you know why God said such words? God attends to reality in what He says. He asks you to experience it. This is more powerful than empty advice. If you do not experience it, you will not be convinced by anything. When you have experienced it, you will understand. It is like some people disagreeing when advised not to touch the red-hot iron that will burn them. They say, “I am not afraid of burning! I am the iron man. It will burn you but not me!” How do you try to persuade such people? You may say, “Then I advise you to touch it and see how it really is. Do not say you are the iron man. It is no use to boast. You will know if you touch it.” How is this way of advising people? This way of advising people is extremely practical. Go and try it and then you will know.

God said, “This will prevent many people from always being suspicious about it.” What does “always being suspicious about it” mean? It means always having doubt in their heart. “Is He really God?” Whatever you say they will have doubts, so there is only one way to dispel their doubts and that is to ask them to try it and see. After trying, when they have experienced some punishment and suffering, they will no longer have doubts. Even if you let them doubt, they would not doubt again. Let me give an example. After the Lord Jesus had resurrected from the dead and appeared to many of His disciples, they testified, “The Lord has resurrected from the dead and appeared to us!” Some people believed, saying, “These people are honest people and what they said is guaranteed to be true. Judging from their demeanor and expression, they look like they have just seen the Lord.” They were convinced. “Oh, can the Lord let us see Him too?” Every one of them had this mentality. Only Thomas said: “It cannot be!” As soon as he opened his mouth, he said, “It cannot be!” How did he stress the word “cannot”? “It cannot be! It cannot be!” Wasn’t he excessively self-confident? “It cannot be! I have to see Him, and I have to put my finger into the mark of the nails and thrust my hand into His side before I can believe. Jesus was crucified. Could He resurrect?” Thomas doubted. What did the Lord Jesus say? “And reach here your hand, and thrust it into My side” (Jhn 20:27). “Reach here your hand! You will know as soon as you touch My side!” These words are very to the point. That is how God speaks. What do you see from God’s words? What is the difference between what God says and what people say? People always indulge in blind exhortation, but God does not speak those useless words. Is that not so? It is useless to exhort some people. Without seeing the facts, they are unwilling to accept what God said. They are very strong-willed. God has to let them reach out their hand and then they will be submissive. “This will prevent many people from always being suspicious about it.” God lets you experience suffering and then you will know it. He lets you experience the seriousness of this and you will then know it. God does things in such a practical way. God does not tell you empty words to advise you. He lets you experience suffering. God speaks using the facts. God acts in such a practical way. Wait until you encounter God’s punishment; you will need no one to advise you then and you will be more sincerely convinced than anyone. Is this not the case? So everyone is clearer about what kind of attitude he has toward today’s God than others, and without needing others to tell him, everyone knows what disciplines he has received. Once people have experienced these things, will they still have doubts about God? They will no longer have doubts. They will be absolutely certain that God is real. But sometimes it is unavoidable that they will have notions about God. One’s having notions about God does not mean he doubts God. But serious notions and big misunderstandings create doubt. This is also true.

Let us continue to read God’s words: “Many people read the words of God yet secretly oppose Him in their hearts. After opposing Him like this, do you not feel like a knife has been twisted in your heart? If it is not family disharmony, it is physical discomfort, or the afflictions of sons and daughters. Although your flesh is spared death, the hand of God will never leave you. Do you think it could be that simple?” This is not a simple matter. It is related to one’s attitude toward God today and is a big matter! God observes your attitude toward God, God’s words and God’s work. After observing it, if there are any problems, He will not spare you. What kind of people does God not spare? God does not spare those whom He has predestined and chosen. If you are not one of those whom God has predestined and chosen, He will not pay attention to you. Will God eliminate those whom God has predestined and chosen if they persistently oppose Him? God does not force people, so they will be eliminated all the same. So some of those whom God has predestined and chosen can still be eliminated. You must remember this. It is true. Some people say: “I have believed in the Lord for many years. I love the Lord most fervently. Surely I could not be eliminated when Almighty God has come?” Aren’t people who say these words in danger? The nature of these words is serious! Doesn’t saying such words imply they have notions about God? Aren’t they disobedient to God? Aren’t they resting on their laurels and priding themselves on being veterans? Are they not expressing their satanic disposition? Aren’t they opposing God based on their satanic disposition? These words are very problematic. It is a serious problem. Can God spare you? What can you do if God is to eliminate you? Can you deny that Almighty God is the true God? You cannot deny this. It is undeniable. God is still God. Some people say: “Could God still be God if the people He has created all died?” Couldn’t He still be God? Why would God still be God? God could recreate mankind. If God destroyed this mankind, He could create another. If another mankind also became too deeply corrupted, God could destroy it and create still another mankind. This mankind is already the third or fourth mankind God has created. Mankind has already been destroyed several times before. Has God not done this several times before? Observe history and you will know that hundreds of thousands of years ago, there was a human civilization which was destroyed. This happened not just once but several times; it may have been at least three times. Today God has already saved a group of people from among this mankind, so God does not hesitate to destroy the rest, however many they may be. Why is this? God can bless the mankind that remains with one word. After decades or hundreds of years, will mankind not have multiplied again? If God lets mankind multiply, then mankind will multiply. Is that not right? When God blesses mankind, after decades or hundreds of years, mankind will have been fruitful and multiplied. That is how it is. So it is of no use for the religious community and unbelievers to refuse to accept God and always challenge God.

God continued: “In particular, it is even more necessary for the many who are near to God to focus on this.” “The many who are near to God” are people who have contact with God incarnate. That is to say, those around Him must focus on this. “As time goes on, you will forget it, and, without realizing it, you will be plunged into temptation, you will become heedless of everything, and this will be the start of your sinning. Does this seem trivial to you?” “Does this seem trivial to you?” Can those who are usually by God’s side but not in pursuit of the truth stand firm? They cannot stand firm. If you are not by God’s side, you cannot stand firm if you are not in pursuit of the truth. If you are by God’s side but not in pursuit of the truth you will be exposed more quickly. Within a few years, God will loathe you: “This person does not pursue the truth at all and does not eat or drink the words of God at all as a believer in God. They have not made any progress and have never practiced the truth.” God sees this more clearly, as you are by His side. Isn’t it the case that those who do not love the truth will be exposed and eliminated more quickly if they are by God’s side? I can figure out those people whom I am more in contact with. I say: “Some of these people are not in pursuit of the truth, and they are not okay; some people are not of a good caliber and cannot understand the truth.” After coming into contact with them a few times, I can figure them out. God can see people more accurately, as He searches people’s hearts and minds. Some people I can only see through after several years. God does not need several years. He can see through them after meeting them several times. However, those by God’s side who are in pursuit of the truth are more and more certain about God. Why can those people who are by God’s side become more and more obedient and reverential toward God? Do you know why? Isn’t it the case that they can experience more dealing, pruning and punishment and thus their life can grow faster? Being by God’s side, people can be perfected quicker and can also be exposed and eliminated quicker. If they pursue the truth, their progress is quicker and if they do not pursue the truth, their elimination will also be quicker.

God said, “If you can do this well, then you have the chance to be made perfect—to receive the guidance from God’s own mouth before God.” That is to say, if those who pursue the truth can do this well, then they have an opportunity to be perfected—to receive the guidance from God’s own mouth in the presence of God. The average person cannot receive the guidance from God’s own mouth. Only those who come into contact with God and the man used by God can receive it. “If you are careless, it will be trouble for you—you will be defiant of God, your words and actions will be dissolute, and sooner or later you will be carried away by great gales and mighty waves.” “Be carried away by great gales and mighty waves.” Some people ask, “Does the ‘great gales and mighty waves’ mean typhoons and storms?” This is not what it means. “Be carried away by great gales and mighty waves” means to be exposed or eliminated through whatever temptations you may face. Do you understand? “Every one of you should take note of these commandments.” That is, everyone is asked to pay attention to and to know the seriousness of this matter. We must pay attention to that which is related to our outcome and take it seriously.

God said, “The man who is testified to by God may not condemn you.” Why does this word mention the man who is testified to by God? Because in doing your duty in the church, you do not come into contact with God, and at best, you may come into contact with the man who is testified to by God. As you see, leaders and workers at all levels of God’s family can come into contact with the man who is testified to by God. No matter whether or not they can see him, he has to communicate with them often and find out the situations often, to let them report to him on their work, give an account of their work. So, when you cannot see God nor come into contact with God, you can come into contact with the man who is testified to by God. What does “The man who is testified to by God may not condemn you” mean? It means that when you have not obviously done a lot of evil things, nor aroused public anger, nor been reported by anyone, he does not condemn you. Because the man used by the Holy Spirit is a man, who cannot search people’s hearts and minds, and he does not understand you, he does not condemn you. If you have done a lot of evil things and are reported by people then he will condemn you. That is what that means. “But the Spirit of God is not finished with you, He will not spare you.” What does “the Spirit of God” refer to? It refers to the Holy Spirit. “The man who is testified to by God may not condemn you, but the Spirit of God is not finished with you, He will not spare you. Do you think you have what it takes to commit offense?” What does this mean? Sometimes the man who is testified to by God can handle some matters and some people but more often it is the Holy Spirit who does so. It is the Holy Spirit who directly exposes and eliminates some people. Perhaps the Holy Spirit does something directly to punish someone. This is invisible to all. It is something done in secret. Do you understand? In my fellowship, I have just said that some people become ill and die despite doing their duty and some people get cancer or suffer disasters despite doing their duty. Why is that? That means “but the Spirit of God is not finished with you, He will not spare you.” Do you understand? The man used by God is not God, and he cannot search people’s hearts and minds. Some things you do not do in an obvious manner, but keep them hidden in your heart, doing them secretly behind others’ backs, so that this man does not see. But do not forget that God not only uses the man to do His work, but the Holy Spirit also does it. The Holy Spirit is doing the many things the man cannot do. The Holy Spirit does not spare you. So God said, “Do you think you have what it takes to commit offense?” What does this word mean? If you do something that offends God, you will find yourself in serious trouble and the Holy Spirit will punish you directly! The consequence of resisting God is death! You cannot afford to offend Him. Someone who believed in the Lord in religious circles said something that was against God and was punished as a result. This person said: “It is a bad thing. This is not a case of offending ordinary people, but offending God, the supreme One.” Being cursed by God means inevitable death! They got an illness and saw many doctors but were not healed and were told they had no illness, yet they still died in the end. This means they were punished for offending the supreme One. So this is what “Do you think you have what it takes to commit offense?” means.

God said, “Thus, no matter what God says, you must put His words into practice, and must adhere to them by any means you can. This is no simple matter!” This is not a simple matter, so do not view this too simply. “Oh, these are all trivial matters which can be abided by or not. If we do our best to abide by them then we may be able to abide by them; if we cannot abide by them then there is nothing we can do. God has mercy upon people.” Is this idea tenable? It is untenable and those who think this are fooling themselves. Your attitude toward God is a big deal. It determines your prospects and fate and your outcome and destination. Your final outcome and destination depends upon your attitude toward God today. Some people say: “I will argue. I will have notions if what God does does not conform to people’s notions. I will believe whatever the devil Satan says!” You believe then. This is your choice. What is the result of you not believing the words of God and that God is the truth and instead believing the devil Satan’s words, your imagination and your judgment? Wait for the Holy Spirit to handle you. The result is that the Holy Spirit is not finished with you and He will not spare you. Can you afford to offend Him? What does “Do you think you have what it takes to commit offense?” mean? You will have notions, and God will say: “I will make you die! Do you still have notions? I will send you to hell! Do you still have notions? I will throw you into the lake of fire and brimstone! Do you still have notions?” You refuse to repent until failing completely! Can you escape the hand of God? You even say you will have notions; can you afford to offend God? Look at those people who have become presidents. If they do not worship and obey God, anything can happen. One thing is enough for them to bear and is enough to torment them for days. Do you think a president has great power? They are no exception, no matter how great the power they have! If you have offended God, God will orchestrate an environment for you to make you face something which you cannot escape. Who can escape the hand of God? You can afford to offend some people, but you shall not offend God. People only cannot afford to offend God. If one offends God, one must die; God has the right to one’s life however and whenever He decides, to the exact minute and second. One cannot afford to offend God! There are people who still argue hard: “I will have notions!” You will have notions. If you insist on them, you will have to die. It is as simple as that. Is that not the case? Let us talk about a simplest matter. For example, when God uses the man used by the Holy Spirit to guide God’s chosen people to experience God’s words, do their duty and bear witness to God, the man used by the Holy Spirit has the final say over all administrative affairs. Some people say: “I will not submit! I only obey God, and I will not obey the man used by the Holy Spirit!” We will not say whether or not the man used by the Holy Spirit will handle them, but supposing the man used by the Holy Spirit does not handle them, then what would their outcome be? Who do they oppose? They oppose God. If you are not satisfied with God’s arrangements and do not obey God’s arrangements and predestination, then the Holy Spirit will not spare you and you will be finished! Is that not the case?

Why must God’s commandments be abided by? By abiding by God’s commandments, you can gain and understand a lot! You can see a lot of facts and not only can you know your own corruption and how deep your corruption goes, but you can also know that which is lacking within you, whether or not you are obedient and reverential toward God and whether or not you treat the words of God as the words of God and God as God. This can all be revealed and you can see them clearly. Moreover, if people comply with God’s commandments, this means that they are obeying God, listening to, practicing and experiencing God’s words, and believing in God and taking the path of believing in God according to God’s requirements and will. This is a testimony, an indispensable testimony. When people practice this, their hearts are at peace and full of joy and their attitude toward God is correct, dignified and after God’s heart. And what if people do not abide by God’s commandments? Firstly, they cannot understand many things clearly, such as to what extent they have been corrupted and disobedient to God so that they cannot even abide by God’s words and are even capable of offending God’s disposition. They cannot see these issues clearly. Moreover, if they do not abide by the commandments of God, they will not understand why God promulgated the commandments and what God’s intentions are. They will think that God asks people to abide by this and that and in the end He will condemn people when they cannot abide them. You see, they will misunderstand God. So what is most revealed by whether or not people abide by the commandments of God? That is people’s attitude toward God today. If you abide by the commandments of God, your attitude toward God is correct, dignified and decent and after God’s heart. If you do not abide by the commandments of God, your attitude toward God today is disrespectful; it is one of shunning, ignoring, and neglecting Him; and you do not take God’s words seriously and even less so God, nor do you treat God as God. Is that not the case? Can people who do not abide by God’s commandments be people who truly obey God? Are they people who treat God as God? Are they people who revere God? Do they have a place for God in their hearts? Do they revere God in their hearts? If they do not abide by the commandments of God, then these problems are obvious. If they do not abide by God’s commandments then, precisely speaking, what is their attitude toward God in their hearts? They do not treat God as God, but as an ordinary person, so that is why they treat Him like this. What is the most rudimentary manifestation of people treating God incarnate as an ordinary person? It is not abiding by the commandments of God and not taking them seriously. So when they see God, it seems that they see a person, and in their hearts they say: “Ah, You are God incarnate. I think You are just a person, so when You speak, to me it can go in one ear and out the other. I can just go through the motions, just assume presentable looks, package myself, make a pretense and flatter You and that is it. And I’ll have done everything.” Afterward there is no reproach in their heart at all. When you ask, “Do you have a God-fearing heart? Are you obedient to God? Do you have notions about God?” they have no reaction. Why is this? They have behaved as such because they have treated God as a man and not God. Is that not the case? Those who do not abide by the commandments can be said to have not treated God as God, but as an ordinary man instead and thus they do not abide by the commandments. This is completely in accordance with the facts and is not an exaggeration.

Abiding by the commandments is man’s duty. Those who do not have a heart that fears and obeys God cannot abide by them, nor are they willing to. So it is best to read the commandments carefully over and over and remember them. It is even better if they can be memorized. After memorizing them and a period of experience, if you can abide by some commandments, this means you have made some progress. After another period of experience, if you seem to be able to abide by some commandments which you failed to abide by before, is this not the outcome of understanding some truths? Once you understand some truths and have a little reverence and obedience for God then you will be able to abide by some commandments. After another period of time, once you understand some more truths and in your heart you have gained a little more reverence for God and grown and made further progress in your obedience for God, you will be able to abide by more commandments. Unwittingly, after several years of experience, you will be able to abide by the majority of the commandments. So what kind of people cannot abide by God’s commandments? Firstly, those who do not pursue the truth and secondly, those whose corrupt disposition has not been changed at all, who are still natural devils, Satans. Their satanic disposition has not been changed at all, and they are still arrogant, conceited and self-righteous. In front of people, they are unbridled and unrestricted and obey no one. In the presence of God they want to control and restrict themselves, but it is too late and they cannot keep within bounds, and begin to be unbridled. If you can restrain yourself in front of others, then in the presence of God you will certainly be able to. Whatever one is before people, one will certainly be before God. If you are arrogant and conceited in the presence of people, then will you not be arrogant and conceited before God? Can you restrain yourself a little? So can the kind of people who obey no one, have no self-restraint and have no bottom line for being a person in front of people abide by God’s commandments? They cannot abide by them. It is very difficult for them to do so! You must be someone who is in pursuit of the truth. The more you pursue the truth and understand the truth, the more knowledge of God you will attain. What is the truth? It is what God has and is. When you have understood the truth and gained the truth, you will have knowledge of God. What is the outcome of having knowledge of God? You will increase and grow in the fear of God, obedience to God, reliance on God, and love for God in your heart. Once you have growth in these aspects in your heart, the commandments shall be easy to abide by. Once you have these things in your life, it is easy to abide by the commandments. If you do not have these things in your life, then you will not be able to abide by any of the commandments. It is no use depending on your will to show temporary restraint; you cannot restrain yourself and even if you can restrain yourself today, you shall not be able to do so tomorrow. Is this not the case? Some people say: “So how can it be proved that I am someone who is in pursuit of the truth?” After you have pursued the truth for a period of time, see whether or not the fear of God in your heart has grown and increased and whether the obedience to God in your heart, your loyalty toward God, your love for God and your reliance on God have grown or not. If you see they all have grown a little—10 percent, 20 percent, then will you not have made some progress in life? You will have made some progress in life. What is this statement based on? It is based on your growth in these things in your heart—the fear of God, the obedience to God, the reliance on God and the love for God in your heart. Once these things in your heart grow a little, you will also grow a little in life. If these things in your heart do not grow then you will have no growth in life. If these things are completely absent in your heart, then you have no life. If you have no spiritual life, and only have the life of the flesh, the life of the flesh will be over after several decades. If you do not have a spiritual life, then you will not have a place in God’s kingdom. If you have a spiritual life, then even if the life of your flesh dies, it doesn’t matter, and you will still exist in the future, for you are just sleeping. If one has no spiritual life, one is finished and like a beast, once dead that is the end. Is that not the case?

Questions & Answers

Question 1: God said: “People who genuinely believe in God always have Him in their hearts, and they always carry within them a God-revering heart, a God-loving heart. Those who believe in God should do things cautiously and prudently, and all that they do should be in accordance with God’s requirements and be able to satisfy His heart. They should not be headstrong, doing whatever they please; that does not befit saintly propriety. People cannot run amok waving the flag of God all over the place while swaggering and swindling everywhere; this is the most rebellious sort of conduct.” We are not clear about the specific manifestations of this conduct spoken of in this passage of the words of God: “run amok waving the flag of God all over the place while swaggering and swindling everywhere.” Brother, please fellowship about this.

Answer: What are the manifestations of “waving the flag of God”? I will fellowship about this briefly. It is a fact that some people swagger and swindle. What do they say? They say, “I know God, I received God previously. I previously did my duty by God’s side and was in contact with God for a certain period of time.” What is their purpose in saying these words? It is to make you look up to them and worship them. Is this not the meaning of waving the flag of God? This is one manifestation of that. There is another manifestation: “God told me to act in this way. It was stated in the words of God. This is what I am telling you, and the meaning is God’s meaning, so you should listen!” Is this not waving the flag of God? This is also a manifestation of such. There is still another manifestation: “This is what the words of God say, so what I say is equivalent to the words of God and it represents God, and you should listen to and obey it!” Is this not waving the flag of God? There are also some people who wave the flag of the man used by the Holy Spirit: “I told our brother and he told me to do such so you have to listen. I am passing on the words of our brother.” As soon as everyone hears this, they say, “This is serious! Quickly listen.” What is this practice? If you want to fellowship about the truth but you are afraid that people will not listen, there is no need to use this method. You do not need to add anything to what you say. You shall just say, “The words that I fellowship are not necessarily correct, but they are my understanding. If you do not want to listen to or accept it, then that is your choice. I have no right to intervene.” Do not adopt any means to force others to listen to you. “If I want them to listen to me, I have to say it in this way. I have to say it in this way for them to listen.” Do not do this. No matter how you speak, you are just conveying the words of God and you are just fellowshiping about the truth—you cannot represent God. Is that not the case? Do you think God forces people when He speaks? When God speaks, it is just those words, not superfluous, responsibility fulfilled and that is it. At the most, He will add: Be cautious, guard your tongue, and don’t do anything that offends God. That’s all. Even God does not speak a lot, and He leaves us with the choice as to whether to listen or not. Why should we human beings force people to listen to us? Why must we speak in somebody’s name, waving the flag of somebody? This intention is not right. This is being arrogant and conceited. This is not doing one’s duty! This is showing oneself off to make others look up to them. This is forcing people to obey. Is this a good disposition to have? No. Look at Noah. Noah told people God wanted to destroy the world by flood. Many people must have said to Noah, “You say that God told you, but who can confirm that? Unless God speaks to us, we will not listen to you!” When Noah heard this, he said, “If this is what you say, then there is nothing I can do. It’s up to you whether you listen or not” and that was it. Noah did not say anything else. Noah had a God-fearing heart. He did not say, “I represent God. God sent me.” Noah did not say that. To say such words offends God. This is a person with a God-fearing heart. When speaking to others, do not try to achieve a certain outcome or use certain methods, know when to stop, do your duty, say what you should say, do not stand in the wrong position and do not offend God’s disposition. That is enough. The antichrist is guilty of this mistake. Is that not so? Arrogant people are also prone to make this kind of mistake. So, you have to be careful. Never make this kind of mistake. Do not wave any flags when doing things. Just say, “If you do not listen then let’s leave it at that. Anyhow I have done my duty.” That is fine. Why speak waving a flag? Have I waved the flag of God when speaking? Have I said that I represent God? I do not say these words. If I said such words, I would offend God’s disposition.
