189 The Significance of the Incarnation

1

Incarnation means God’s Spirit becomes flesh.

This means that God Himself becomes flesh.

His work in the flesh is the Spirit’s work

which is realized in and expressed by the flesh.

None except the flesh of God can fulfill

the ministry of the incarnate God.

Only God’s incarnate flesh, this normal humanity,

can express the divine work.

The significance of God’s incarnation

is that an ordinary, normal man does God’s work,

that God does His divine work in humanity

and vanquishes Satan.

2

By coming into the flesh to do work,

He shows Satan that God is now flesh.

God’s now a normal, ordinary person,

yet He can reign triumphant over the world.

He shows Satan that God is now flesh,

yet He is able to vanquish Satan,

He is able to redeem mankind,

He is able to conquer mankind.

The significance of God’s incarnation

is that an ordinary, normal man does God’s work,

that God does His divine work in humanity

and vanquishes Satan.

3

Satan’s work goal is to corrupt mankind,

while the goal of God is to save mankind.

Satan traps man in a bottomless abyss,

while God rescues him from this abyss.

Satan makes all men come and worship it,

while God makes them subject to His dominion.

For He is the Lord of all creation.

Yes, He is the Lord of all creation.

The significance of God’s incarnation

is that an ordinary, normal man does God’s work,

that God does His divine work in humanity

and vanquishes Satan.

4

All this work’s done through God’s two incarnations.

His flesh is in essence the union of humanity and divinity,

and possesses normal humanity.

The significance of God’s incarnation

is that an ordinary, normal man does God’s work,

that God does His divine work in humanity

and vanquishes Satan.
