807 You Should Emulate Peter
Verse 1
People always have good things to say about Peter.
He was gifted and smart and loved by his parents.
Yet as an adult, he became their enemy
because he kept seeking the knowledge of God,
and so he turned his back on them.
Verse 2
Peter believed earth and heaven are in God’s hands,
and that all positive comes from directly Him
and is not processed or corrupted by Satan.
His parents’ opposition gave him more knowledge
of God’s kindness and mercy.
Pre-chorus
Thus his longing to seek God grew and grew.
Chorus
Because Peter was loyal to God,
and because God gave him His blessing,
he’s been an example and model
to mankind for thousands of years.
Shouldn’t you emulate this?
Verse 3
He worked on more than just drinking God’s words in,
but on grasping God’s will and keeping vigilant.
His spirit was keen, all he did followed God’s will.
He watched people’s failures to spur himself on,
afraid of failing himself.
Verse 4
He also kept working hard to absorb
the faith and love of all who’d ever loved God.
Thus in both negative and positive aspects,
his growth quickened until his knowledge was the greatest
among all in God’s presence.
Chorus
Because Peter was loyal to God,
and because God gave him His blessing,
he’s been an example and model
to mankind for thousands of years.
Shouldn’t you emulate this?
Bridge
Peter put everything in God’s hands,
even such choices as clothing and food.
He enjoyed God’s riches based on pleasing God.
Verse 5
God subjected Peter to hundreds of trials,
that left him half-dead, but he never lost faith.
Even when God said He’d forsaken Peter,
he never gave up, but kept on loving God
by following past principles.
Chorus
Because Peter was loyal to God,
and because God gave him His blessing,
he’s been an example and model
to mankind for thousands of years.
Shouldn’t you emulate this?
