01God’s new name in the last days—Almighty God

God’s name in the Age of Law was Jehovah and it was Lord Jesus in the Age of Grace. It was prophesied in Revelation: “Him that overcomes will I make a pillar in the temple of My God, and he shall go no more out: and I will write on him the name of My God, and the name of the city of My God, which is new Jerusalem, which comes down out of heaven from My God: and I will write on him My new name” (Revelation 3:12). This shows us that God comes in the last days with a new name. This is puzzling for a lot of people: Why would God’s name change? What is God’s new name in the last days?

“I am Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and the Ending, said the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty” (Revelation 1:8).

“And I heard as it were the voice of a great multitude, and as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of mighty thunder, saying, Alleluia: for the Lord God Almighty reigns” (Revelation 19:6).

02What is the relationship between God’s name and God’s work? What is the significance of the names God takes in each age?

Originally, God had no name. He began taking on different names in different ages only for the sake of His work to save mankind. God’s name changes as His work shifts. God does not cling to the old—when His work changes, His name changes along with it. Each one of His names represents an age, and they also represent His work and the disposition He expresses in that particular age. Each name also has its own significance. So what is the significance behind each name that God uses for each age?

“And God said moreover to Moses, Thus shall you say to the children of Israel, Jehovah, the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has sent me to you: this is My name for ever, and this is My memorial to all generations” (Exodus 3:15).

“I, even I, am Jehovah; and beside Me there is no savior” (Isaiah 43:11).

“The angel of the LORD appeared to him in a dream, saying, Joseph, you son of David, fear not to take to you Mary your wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit. And she shall bring forth a son, and you shall call His name JESUS: for He shall save His people from their sins” (Matthew 1:20–21).

“Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved” (Acts 4:12).

“I am Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and the Ending, said the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty” (Revelation 1:8).

03What is the nature of not accepting the name of Almighty God? What will the consequences be?

When the Lord Jesus came to do the work of redemption in the Age of Grace, the Pharisees clung to the name of Jehovah, refusing to accept the name of the Lord Jesus, and resisting and condemning Him. Ultimately, they colluded with the Roman government to have the Lord Jesus nailed to the cross, thereby committing a heinous crime and suffering God’s punishment and damnation. Now in the last days, Almighty God is expressing truths on the foundation of the Lord Jesus’ work of redemption, doing the stage of judgment work to cleanse and save mankind once and for all. Those who recognize that the words expressed by Almighty God are the truth, that they are the voice of God, and who accept God’s new name and keep up with God’s new work, will be cleansed and perfected by God. Those who just cling to the Lord Jesus’ name, however, who refuse to accept Almighty God’s name and who resist and condemn Almighty God, will surely fall into darkness amid much weeping and gnashing of teeth.
