294 God’s Mercy Has Allowed Man to Survive Until Today
Verse 1
Humans have never seen a single one of God’s acts,
nor heard a single one of God’s utterances.
Even if they had seen, what would they have discovered?
Even if they had heard, what would they have understood?
Pre-chorus 1
Everyone exists throughout the world
within God’s mercy and lovingkindness.
Humanity lies under His judgment,
and likewise, is subject to His trials.
Chorus
There are no human beings
who have stood fast in trial,
genuinely submitting when being tried.
If God’s face were not covered
that He might not look at this world,
the whole human race would fall,
His gaze would so burn.
God asks naught of humanity,
and so they have survived,
they have survived before Him until today.
Verse 2
God has been merciful and loving to people,
though all had been corrupted to a certain degree.
And He has meted out chastisement to them,
even when all had submitted before His throne.
Pre-chorus 2
Is there any human being
who is not in the midst of the suffering,
and not in the midst of refinement
that God has seen fit to dispatch?
Chorus
There are no human beings
who have stood fast in trial,
genuinely submitting when being tried.
If God’s face were not covered
that He might not look at this world,
the whole human race would fall,
His gaze would so burn.
God asks naught of humanity,
and so they have survived,
they have survived before Him until today.
Verse 3
So many are groping through the darkness for the light.
So many are struggling bitterly through their trials.
While it is true that Job had faith, it is true that
he was also seeking a way out for himself.
Bridge
Although God’s people
can stand firm in the face of trials,
is there anyone who, without saying it aloud,
also has faith deep down?
Is it not rather that people voice their beliefs
while they’re still harboring
some doubts in their hearts,
some doubts in their hearts?
Chorus
There are no human beings
who have stood fast in trial,
genuinely submitting when being tried.
If God’s face were not covered
that He might not look at this world,
the whole human race would fall,
His gaze would so burn.
God asks naught of humanity,
and so they have survived,
they have survived before Him until today.
