174 Follow God Closely
1 The night is deep and still; outside, dogs bark and sirens wail. In my heart is fear; I could be arrested and imprisoned at any time. I flee my home, not knowing where I can find shelter. Devoid of human rights, I suffer from great persecution and adversity. In this fortress of demons, Satan wields power; it is so dark. The light and the truth are forbidden among man. The great red dragon hopes vainly to control man forever, stopping people from worshiping the true God and walking the right path. I resent that “freedom of belief” is but a lie. I hope that Christ’s kingdom will come soon.
2 In the dark night, God’s words guide us, step-by-step. Amid the suffering of persecution, our faith is perfected. Amid refinement, our corrupt dispositions are cleansed. Amid great tribulation, a group of overcomers are made. God’s people follow God, knowing what to love and what to hate. Nonbelievers cherish only life and forsake the truth. Timid, they have lost their character and dignity. Those who love God give their lives to gain the truth. The great red dragon is but a serving object of God. Though savage, it shall ultimately be destroyed by God. God’s words are with me amid hardship; thinking of God’s grace, I feel Him even more lovely. Persecuted for righteousness upon the bumpy road, there is sweetness amid bitterness, and I feel glorious. I believe that Christ is the truth, the way, and the life, and pledge my life to be loyal and follow Him closely.
