747 How Come Job Could Revere God?

Verse 1

Job had never seen God or heard Him utter any teaching,

but to God his heart and he himself were more precious

than those people who were only able to boast,

speak of offering sacrifices and talk profound theory;

they never had a true knowledge of God,

they never had a true fear of God.

Chorus

How come Job could revere God?

Job’s heart was pure and not hidden from God.

His humanity was honest and kindhearted.

Job loved justice and that which was positive.

Only such a man could follow God’s way,

fearing God and shunning evil.

Verse 2

Such a man could see God’s sovereignty;

he could see His authority and power.

He was able to achieve obedience

to God’s sovereignty and arrangements.

Only such a man could truly praise God’s name.

For he never looked if God would bless him,

he never looked if God would bring disaster upon him.

Verse 3

Job knew that everything is controlled by the hand of God,

and for man to worry is a sign of foolishness,

for man to worry is a sign of ignorance,

irrationality, of doubt toward God’s sovereignty.

It is a sign of not revering God.

This knowledge of Job was precisely what God wanted.

Chorus

How come Job could revere God?

Job’s heart was pure and not hidden from God.

His humanity was honest and kindhearted.

Job loved justice and that which was positive.

Only such a man could follow God’s way,

fearing God and shunning evil.

Bridge

Job hadn’t experienced God’s work,

seen His face or heard His word.

His attitude toward God was the result of his humanity

and his pursuit that are not possessed by people of today.

Thus, God said “There’s none like him on earth,

a perfect and an upright man.”

Chorus

How come Job could revere God?

Job’s heart was pure and not hidden from God.

His humanity was honest and kindhearted.

Job loved justice and that which was positive.

Only such a man could follow God’s way,

fearing God and shunning evil.
