297 A Lament for a Tragic World

Verse 1

Drifting through time, passing life.

The years turn like a dream.

Rushing around for fame and wealth.

Lives spent for things of flesh.

Nothing has been given to the truth.

The youth has passed away just like this.

Verse 2

No thought of God’s own sufferings

or His great loveliness.

Just idly passing empty days.

Not one day lived for God.

Never cause God’s lips to smile.

Hollow and nothing special.

Pre-chorus 1

Who has understood God’s heart?

Who can share with God life and death?

Who has treasured all His words?

Who has devoted to God their all?

Chorus

When will spring flowers pause their blooming?

True love is here in this world.

Sorrow and joy, ups and downs.

Circle of seasons, going on and on.

God’s been forsaken year after year.

What a tragic world!

Verse 3

Man has his home, a place of ease.

Yet God has no place to rest His head.

How many offer themselves up?

He’s had His fill of the cold,

endured the whole world’s suffering.

Yet no one has shown their sympathy.

Verse 4

Anxious for man, God bustles among them

and works on, tirelessly.

Though seasons come and go,

He gives all for humanity,

who spares a thought for God?

Who’s ever asked after His comfort?

Pre-chorus 2

How man demands from God!

Never give thoughts to His will.

Enjoy happy family life,

but why do they make Him weep?

Chorus

When will spring flowers pause their blooming?

True love is here in this world.

Sorrow and joy, ups and downs.

Circle of seasons, going on and on.

God’s been forsaken year after year.

What a tragic world!
