952 Man’s Rebellion Arouses the Wrath of God
Verse 1
When His wrathful anger shakes the mountains and rivers,
God will no longer assist cowardly man.
In fury He’ll refuse them a chance to repent,
give up His hope in them, punish them as they deserve.
Then thunder will roar, like waves raging in anger,
like ten thousand mountains crashing down.
For his rebellion, mankind is struck down and killed.
All creatures, wiped out by thunder and lightning.
Chorus
All of humanity goes far away from God because of His wrath.
For man has offended against the essence of His Spirit,
man’s rebellion has displeased God.
Verse 2
The universe descends abruptly into chaos,
creation can’t recover the primal breath of life.
Man cannot escape from the thunder’s roar;
in the midst of lightning, the hordes of humans
topple into streams, swept away by torrents,
cascading down from the mountains.
And all at once, in mankind’s “destination”
there’s a world of “men,” corpses drifting on the sea.
Chorus
All of humanity goes far away from God because of His wrath.
For man has offended against the essence of His Spirit,
man’s rebellion has displeased God.
All of humanity goes far away from God because of His wrath.
For man has offended against the essence of His Spirit,
man’s rebellion has displeased God.
Outro
But safely on land, other men are singing
amid laughter and song,
enjoying the promises God has kept,
that God has kept just for them.
