776 Peter Held to True Faith and Love

Verse 1

Peter would often come to Jesus in prayer,

feeling regret that was beyond compare,

for failing to meet God’s will and reach His standard.

This issue became his greatest burden.

He said, “One day I will give to You

everything I have and am; it’s true.

I will give to You that which is most precious;

I’ll give to You that which is most valuable.”

Refrain

“Oh God, my life and body are worthless!

I have only faith and love for You.

I have faith in You in my mind;

I have love for You in my heart.

Two things alone I have to give to You,

true love and faith in You.”

Verse 2

Encouraged by the words of Jesus,

Peter said while upon the cross,

“God, even if You ask me to die,

I still can’t love You enough.

Wherever You will send my soul,

whether Your promise I’ll behold,

whatever You shall do,

I will love and forever believe in You.”

Refrain

“Oh God, my life and body are worthless!

I have only faith and love for You.

I have faith in You in my mind;

I have love for You in my heart.

Two things alone I have to give to You,

true love and faith in You.”

Outro

What Peter held onto was his faith, his true love.
