736 Only by Fearing God Can Evil Be Shunned
Chorus
God’s not a sheep to be slaughtered;
His disposition is majesty, wrath.
He’s not a puppet to be controlled
by humans however they want.
If you truly believe God exists,
then a God-fearing heart you should have.
You need to know that God’s essence
is one never to be angered.
Verse 1
This anger may be caused by a word,
it may be caused by a thought,
or by behavior that’s vile,
or even behavior that’s mild—
behavior allowed by human eyes and ethics;
or it could be provoked by a theory or doctrine.
Pre-chorus 1
Once you have angered God, your end days will begin,
opportunity is lost: this is a terrible thing.
Chorus
God’s not a sheep to be slaughtered;
His disposition is majesty, wrath.
He’s not a puppet to be controlled
by humans however they want.
If you truly believe God exists,
then a God-fearing heart you should have.
You need to know that God’s essence
is one never to be angered.
Verse 2
If you don’t know God allows no offense,
if you don’t know how to fear God,
then you are unable to fear Him,
perhaps you are often offending Him.
You won’t know how to enter, follow God’s way:
one of fearing God, pushing evil away.
Pre-chorus 2
Once you become aware that you must not offend God,
then you’ll know what it is to shun evil and to fear God.
Chorus
God’s not a sheep to be slaughtered;
His disposition is majesty, wrath.
He’s not a puppet to be controlled
by humans however they want.
If you truly believe God exists,
then a God-fearing heart you should have.
You need to know that God’s essence
is one never to be angered.
