1029 A River of Water of Life

Verse 1

Clear as crystal, a river of water of life

flows out of the throne of God and the Lamb.

On each side of the river is a tree of life.

This tree of life bears twelve manner of fruits

and each and every month it yields its fruit.

The leaves of the tree are to heal the nations.

There shall be no more curse from now on.

Verse 2

God’s throne and the Lamb’s shall be in the city.

His servants shall serve Him and see His face,

and His name shall be always on their foreheads.

There shall be no night, they need no candle,

neither shall they have need of the sunlight,

for the Lord God Almighty gives them light.

They shall reign forever and ever.

Verse 3

God brings a new Jerusalem out of heaven.

His tabernacle is with men, He’ll live with them.

They will be His people, He shall be their God.

He will wipe away the tears from their eyes;

there shall be no more death, crying, sorrow, pain.

God will give the thirsty water of life freely.

Those who overcome shall inherit all.

Bridge

God and the Lamb are the temple of the city.

The city needs no sun, needs no moon to shine.

God’s glory gives light, as does the Lamb,

and the nations shall walk in the city’s light.

The kings of the earth bring their glory into it.

The city’s gates shall not be shut by day at all,

for there shall be no more night in the city.

All shall bring into it the nations’ glory.

Nothing shall enter in which defiles or lies,

nothing may come in which works abomination,

only they who are found in the Lamb’s book of life.

Verse 4

Lightning shines from the East to light up the West.

Almighty God, the last Christ, has come among man.

He speaks the truth; the Word appears in the flesh.

All peoples have returned before God’s throne

to be trained and perfected for the kingdom.

Christ has brought eternal life, God’s people face Him,

enjoying the unmatched sweetness of His words.

Verse 5

Like a sharp, double-edged sword, the words of judgment

cleanse and bring salvation to humanity.

Judgment began in God’s house; the curtain’s raised

upon the judgment of the final days.

God’s people laud Almighty God’s name as holy.

He has gained the kingdom and come down to earth.

God’s great work’s complete, He’s fully gained glory.
