163 Why Christ Has Come to Work on Earth
Verse 1
Though Christ works on God’s behalf,
it’s not to show His image in flesh.
He does not come to be seen,
He comes to lead man to the new age.
Verse 2
The function of Christ as flesh
is to do the work of God Himself.
It’s not to enable men
to discern the substance of His flesh.
Pre-chorus
No matter how Christ works,
His deeds are attained in the flesh,
done within the scope of normal humanity.
They’re not supernatural
or inestimable as man thinks.
He does not fully show God’s countenance to man.
Chorus
God becomes flesh to complete work,
not to merely let men see Him.
His work affirms His identity.
What He reveals confirms His substance.
His identity is not seized by His hand,
but determined by His work and substance.
Verse 3
Though Christ acts for God Himself,
He does not deny God in heaven.
He does not proclaim His own deeds.
No, He hides humbly in His own flesh.
Chorus
God becomes flesh to complete work,
not to merely let men see Him.
His work affirms His identity.
What He reveals confirms His substance.
His identity is not seized by His hand,
but determined by His work and substance.
Bridge
Those who falsely claim to be Christ
do not possess His qualities.
When compared with their arrogant, self-praising ways,
one sees more clearly what Christ is really like.
The falser they are the more they flaunt themselves,
and the more they perform signs to mislead mankind.
False Christs have none of God’s qualities,
and Christ is unspoiled by the traits they possess.
Chorus
God becomes flesh to complete work,
not to merely let men see Him.
His work affirms His identity.
What He reveals confirms His substance.
His identity is not seized by His hand,
but determined by His work and substance.
