151 The Work of the Flesh and the Spirit Is of the Same Essence
Verse 1
Christ is the One who’s the incarnate God.
He’s the flesh that is donned by God’s Spirit.
This flesh is not like man of flesh,
He’s not of flesh and blood, He’s Spirit incarnate.
He is both human and completely divine.
His normal humanity sustains His human life;
His divinity carries out God’s own work.
Verse 2
They both submit to the will of the Father.
Christ is divine, and His essence is the Spirit.
So His essence is that of God Himself;
this essence will not interrupt His own work.
Nothing He does could ever destroy it,
and He wouldn’t say anything against His own will.
This is what every man must understand.
Chorus
Be it the Spirit or the flesh,
it’s one will both work to fulfill,
it’s one work that both do.
Although the Spirit and the flesh
may have two different qualities,
Their essence is the same:
the essence of God Himself.
Both of Them have the identity of God.
Verse 3
The Holy Spirit’s work is saving man,
it’s for the sake of God’s own management.
The work of Christ is to save man as well,
and it is for the sake of God’s own will.
Since God becomes flesh, His essence is within it,
so His flesh is sufficient to undertake His work,
to take on for Him the work He wants to do.
Verse 4
That’s why the work of God’s Spirit is replaced
by the work of Christ during incarnation.
The core work during incarnation is Christ’s work.
It cannot be mixed with work from other ages.
God’s Spirit can do the work of salvation;
when God becomes man, He can still do such work.
No matter what, God always does His own work.
Chorus
Be it the Spirit or the flesh,
it’s one will both work to fulfill,
it’s one work that both do.
Although the Spirit and the flesh
may have two different qualities,
Their essence is the same:
the essence of God Himself.
Both of Them have the identity of God.
Bridge
God neither interrupts nor interferes.
In His work there’s no conflict, for they are alike:
the essence of the work done by the Spirit
and the essence of the work done by the flesh.
Chorus
Be it the Spirit or the flesh,
it’s one will both work to fulfill,
it’s one work that both do.
Although the Spirit and the flesh
may have two different qualities,
Their essence is the same:
the essence of God Himself.
Both of Them have the identity of God.
