982 The Consequences of Man’s Transgressions
Verse 1
The more transgressions you commit,
the less chance you’ll have for a good destination.
The fewer your transgressions,
the better your chances of being praised by God.
If your transgressions increase beyond forgiveness,
you’ll have wasted all your chances.
Your destination will not be above, but below.
Do wrong boldly and see, if you doubt this.
Chorus
Don’t just focus on your destination
while missing your hidden transgressions.
Take them seriously; don’t overlook them,
focusing on your destination.
Verse 2
If you are an earnest person
who puts the truth into practice,
you’ll have a chance to be forgiven,
you’ll disobey less and less.
If you’re a rebellious person
who’s unwilling to practice truth,
your transgressions will multiply,
you’ll disobey more and more.
Pre-chorus
One day when you reach the limit,
that will bring you destruction.
Your pleasant dreams of blessings will be ruined.
Chorus
Don’t just focus on your destination
while missing your hidden transgressions.
Take them seriously; don’t overlook them,
focusing on your destination.
Bridge
Don’t excuse transgressions as foolish mistakes,
or that you could not practice truth
because you’re of poor caliber.
Don’t say you have transgressed
because you didn’t know better.
If you strive to forgive yourself,
you’re a coward who won’t gain truth.
Your transgressions will haunt you,
keep you short of truth’s demands,
causing you to forever remain
Satan’s loyal companion.
Chorus
Don’t just focus on your destination
while missing your hidden transgressions.
Take them seriously; don’t overlook them,
focusing on your destination.
