751 Job Spent His Whole Life Seeking to Know God
Verse 1
Job had never seen God nor heard Him speak,
but he’d truly come to know the means
by which God rules over everything.
He understood His wisdom.
Though he’d never heard God’s spoken word,
he knew that God gives and takes away.
Pre-chorus 1
Though the years of his life
were the same as any others’,
he did not allow his commonplace life
to affect his knowledge of
God’s sovereignty over all things,
or his fearing God and shunning evil.
Chorus
Job’s life was the realization
of God’s rule and arrangements,
who is hidden in all things.
He was attentive to God’s word
and the voice of His heart,
who is silent in all things
but expresses the voice of His heart
by ruling the laws of all things.
Verse 2
Job saw the laws of all are God’s deeds,
God’s sovereignty is seen in man’s life.
He had not seen God, but realized
God’s deeds are everywhere.
During Job’s unremarkable life,
he saw God’s wondrous deeds and arrangements.
Pre-chorus 2
God was hidden and silent,
but it didn’t hinder Job’s
realization of God’s deeds
and his knowledge of
God’s sovereignty over all things,
nor his fearing God and shunning evil.
Chorus
Job’s life was the realization
of God’s rule and arrangements,
who is hidden in all things.
He was attentive to God’s word
and the voice of His heart,
who is silent in all things
but expresses the voice of His heart
by ruling the laws of all things.
Bridge
If people are like Job
in pursuit and humanity,
then they can come to know
the same things known by Job,
and can acquire the same understanding
and knowledge of God’s sovereignty.
Chorus
Job’s life was the realization
of God’s rule and arrangements,
who is hidden in all things.
He was attentive to God’s word
and the voice of His heart,
who is silent in all things
but expresses the voice of His heart
by ruling the laws of all things.
