Because she grew up in poverty and faced discrimination, she hoped to change her fate through education. But she suffered setbacks—she failed her college entrance exams, experienced a career setback, and even developed sensorineural hearing loss. After gaining faith, she expended herself with great enthusiasm and was successively promoted to do important duties. But when her hearing worsened, she could no longer do important duties. Disheartened, she believed she was doomed to a bitter fate and fell into despondency, unable to pick herself up. Later, through the enlightenment and guidance of God's words, she came to understand the root of her despondency and stopped complaining about her bad fate.
