He was doing the duty of a leader. When he saw issues with the work that his co-workers were responsible for and that these things needed to be discussed, though he clearly had viewpoints and suggestions, he was afraid that these discussions would increase his workload and thought that he wouldn't get credit for it even if he helped do the work well. So, he ignored the situation. When one of his co-workers exposed his selfishness, he felt that they did not understand him, and he began to wallow in a state of pain and repression. By eating and drinking God's words, he finally realized that as a leader, only focusing on his own tasks without considering the overall church work was irresponsible, and it revealed his selfish corrupt disposition. In the end, he was able to let go of his own interests and cooperated harmoniously with his co-workers to do his duty.
