234 God’s Believers Should Seek His Present Will
Verse 1
Many believe the true way is
the same as understanding
and interpreting the Bible—
but are things really that simple?
No one knows the Bible’s reality.
It’s nothing but records of history,
a testament to God’s previous work,
so you can’t know the aims of God’s work.
Chorus
Since you believe and pursue life,
since you pursue the knowledge of God,
not chasing doctrines or dead letters
or knowledge of history,
you must seek God’s will of today
and look for the direction of the Holy Spirit’s work.
Verse 2
All who’s read the Bible
knows it documents two stages
of God’s work during the Age of Law
and the Age of Grace.
The Old Testament has the history
of Israel and Jehovah’s work
from creation till the end of
the Age of Law.
Pre-chorus 1
The New Testament records
the work Jesus did on earth,
as well as the work of Paul.
Aren’t these historical records?
Chorus
Since you believe and pursue life,
since you pursue the knowledge of God,
not chasing doctrines or dead letters
or knowledge of history,
you must seek God’s will of today
and look for the direction of the Holy Spirit’s work.
Verse 3
If you just understand the Bible,
but know nothing of God’s work today,
if you don’t seek the Spirit’s work,
then you don’t understand seeking God.
If you read the Bible to study
the history of Israel,
to research God’s creation of heaven and earth,
then you are no believer.
Pre-chorus 2
If you studied ancient cultures,
you could read the Bible,
but you’re one who believes in God,
and you should seek His will today.
Chorus
Since you believe and pursue life,
since you pursue the knowledge of God,
not chasing doctrines or dead letters
or knowledge of history,
you must seek God’s will of today
and look for the direction of the Holy Spirit’s work.
