321 How Could God Forgive Those Who Forsake His Words?

Verse 1

When God stretched out the heavens

and created all things,

He did not allow creatures

to partake as they pleased,

or disrupt His management

however they wished.

Tolerating no one, how could God

spare those cruel to Him?

Chorus

How could He forgive

those who forsake His words?

How could He spare those who disobey Him?

Verse 2

If you were loyal to Jehovah,

would you take God’s sacrifices?

Or use your poison tongue

to blaspheme God’s name?

Could you rebel against His words

or treat His glory and name

as a tool to serve Satan, the evil one?

Verse 3

God’s life is for

the enjoyment of the holy ones.

How could He let you play with

His life as you wish?

Or use it as a tool for your conflicts?

How could you be so heartless,

lacking in the way of the good?

Chorus

How could He forgive

those who forsake His words?

How could He spare those who disobey Him?

Verse 4

Hasn’t God written your evils

in these words of life?

How could you escape wrath

when He chastises Egypt?

How could He let you oppose

and defy Him again and again?

God endures in your evildoings

and will chastise you on that day.

Pre-chorus

Won’t you suffer wrathful judgment

when God’s endurance ends?

Chorus

How could He forgive

those who forsake His words?

How could He spare those who disobey Him?

Verse 5

Aren’t all things in the hands

of the Almighty?

How could He let you disobey

Him beneath the heavens?

Your lives will be hard

because you’ve met the Messiah

whose coming was foretold

but yet had never been fulfilled.

Bridge

Jesus has befriended you,

yet you’re enemies of the Messiah.

Don’t you see your evil’s filled

the vessels of the detestable?

Though you’re close to Jehovah,

He’s heard your evil words.

They’ve provoked His wrath.

So how could He be close to you?

How couldn’t He burn your evil vessels

and be your enemy?

Chorus

How could He forgive

those who forsake His words?

How could He spare those who disobey Him?
