After the main character's parents divorced when she was young, she and her mother were inseparable. Yet, when she was 15, her mother was forced to flee from home when the CCP tried to pursue and arrest her for believing in God. From that point on, she and her mother were forced apart. In the following 11 years, her mother was arrested 3 times and subjected to torture and reeducation through labor. She was brutalized and tormented. Each time the main character heard about her mother being arrested, she went through a lot of agony and suffering. What kind of experiences did she have during this time?
